Memories don’t die with a shout
They die with soft whispers and giggles
Like the near-silence under the parachute
In the field of your elementary school
And the blue sky that is there one second
and covered by the multicolored fabric the next
For the last time, families of chronically ill people, IT IS NOT ABOUT YOU. IT NEVER HAS BEEN. SHUT UP.
I wish I could write good poetry and write my own songs. I feel like Cassandra of Troy, having so much to say but no one will ever hear it and I will never sing my own songs for an audience because the words catch in my throat and my hands falter before they write or type a even a single word much less a song.

Guys I just read a spiderman fic that uncovered trauma about living in an age of school shootings that I didn’t know I had
It’s so weird to be growing up as a diaspora kid from a colonized country because I see the preservation of my culture as linked to my religion as so important but at the same time, recognizing I don’t believe in it anymore.
Photos
It’s in a TikTok slideshow
Where you ask me to give one up
A) your unrelenting hate of your body
B) the things that remain between you and the house that raised you
C) the realization that you just do not belong
You ask me to give one up
You ask me to give one up like the pain doesn’t define me
You ask me to give one up like I didn’t shed my skin and change in ways I cannot take back
The day I realized that my parents may offer unconditional love
But not unconditional safety
You ask me to give one up like I could
Like they haven’t dirtied me
Like they haven’t smeared mud on my skin and baked it in
Changing my soft, kind sensitive self
Into terracotta
No less fragile, just less gentle these days
You ask as if you do not ask more than I can give
You ask too much
You overstep
Or maybe you overestimate
Me, just me as I stand here
No different than what you see, what you expected
I don’t expect to impress you, just to be
As I am, as it all made me
You ask more than you see
Having an older brother is so weird because this man flaunts four and a half years like a lifetime recipe for superiority over me, and a weapon to hit me over the head with. And at the same time four and a half years are a shield that he uses to protect me. Four and a half years but he’d take any hardship the world gives him to protect me from it.

Why is western society so afraid of dirt? Like never garden without gloves, don’t let the kids play in the dirt, no this not that all in an effort to avoid dirt. So odd
Some days I feel like the world has gotten unbearably small. Everything to be known has been known by many before. Until something reminds me and it feels like the entire world unfolds under my feet and I’m reminded that I’m 18 and about to start college and about to change and grow and I’m going to be utterly unrecognizable in a year or two and if that’s sad it’s just as exciting and if what I’ve known brought me this far well it’s time to be and learn something new. I’ve had a lot of trouble thinking about leaving my childhood behind, but I think I’m ready. I’m ready to really live.
THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN WE’RE AT WAR???
As someone who would rather cut off my own limb than talk on the phone, I do not say this lightly. Now is the time to conquer our phone anxieties!
Amongst huge cuts to social programs that benefit millions of Americans, like medicaid and SNAP, the Big Beautiful Bill also includes provisions that will cut billions to student aid, cuts to the Federal Employee Retirement System, cut funding for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and ban states from regulating AI for the next decade.
This will add trillions of dollars to the debt, and all to pay for tax cuts that benefit the wealthiest in our country.
Please. We do want healthcare.
I’ve been thinking, and I think this is the result
Love like it will last forever
Live like this is all there is

I wonder if there’s a word for the feeling after a really good day when the next day you’re not sad, or disappointed, but just relaxed but at the same time… empty?
I’m a high school senior, and in 19 days I will be done with my time in the k12 school system. I will go to college, in a smaller town 2 and half hours south of here, and I’ll probably only ever talk to 5-8 people from here ever again. My room will become my childhood room, and I will never be able to go back to those days when I was little, running up the hill to my best friend’s house to climb her tree and hang out. I’ve had good times here, I’ve had bad times here. I’ve walked up to the local ice cream spot on a hot summer day more times than I can count, and I’ve biked up and down the streets many more times than that. I have a ranked list of the best restaurants to take visiting family and friends around here, and similar list of my favorite hikes. I know every district in this town, what it looks like and I do have favorites. I can drive most places on memory alone, and I love driving with my friends, humming along to my music in the car.
In 19 days I won’t be here or with these people anymore.
And yet these places and people are baked into my skin by the blaring summer sun. Photos, videos, messages all prove that it happened, even if I forget. Those times will exist in my memory, and their memory, and the ground on which our flipflops slapped as we ran in flat footed sprints back when we were always in a hurry. I’m in no hurry to leave now. This place, these people, those times will always be in my bones.
Most things change, some things don’t. The past won’t. It’ll always be right here.
