currently obsessed with re9 leon
i feel like this is going to be so controversial and so many ppl will not like this but honestly im so fed up with the "leon got married" idea
the way i feel like leon just getting married would cheapen his character so much, yes traumatised people deserve a happy ending too but here is the thing - leon is fictional, fiction sometimes exaggerates things for an effect
he struggles so much with ptsd, survivor's guilt, trauma and his (past) addiction, and is most likely suicidal/doesn't care if he dies or not
this is not a healthy man ready to just marry whoever possible! ppl be saying it would be so cute if he married some random girl (also why is it only women that ppl are suggesting he married??) which feels like such a horrible idea because a relationship with someone who doesn't understand leon's struggles and his line of work would lead to soooo many arguments, problems and miscommunication between them because the other person would NOT understand leon in a way that he needs
ppl are suggesting he married sherry which feels like they do not understand leon's character at all?? that man literally acts like an older brother figure to any younger girl he meets, whether it's sherry or ashley or grace, that man wants to make sure they are OKAY and he would not just marry a girl he knew since she was a child and he was in his 20s
with ada i can only see them getting some kind of promise rings? not married, definitely didn't have a wedding, but instead exchanged rings to remember one another no matter where they are. but then again, does even leon know ada? or does he know what she wants him to know? very weird dynamics, i much more prefer seeing them as platonic soulmates, people who will find each other no matter what
a lot of people are mentioning claire too as the one and only, while i think their relationship in re2 is cute and u see them bond very quickly, even sherry is kinda shipping them, i see it more like a quick fling IF ANYTHING but even then, they met when they were like what? in their 20s? as actual grown ass adults it doesnt seem like a relationship they would get into, imo also including chris in all of that bc i kinda feel like claire being his sister would make things a little bit uncomfy to leon? at least that's how i see it really. also they are both deeply affected by what happened in raccoon city, i fear that they would kinda make each other's trauma responses worse than help each other thru the worst of it
and dont get me started on how people react when someone, even jokingly, suggests chris as leon's spouse HOLY SHIT people go nuts, they literally throw slurs at people for even suggesting that like wtf
anyways, my idea is that the ring is just a memento after raccoon city, hence why sherry also has one. it's just their way of sticking together after being the only ones surviving that hell, a reminder of what happened and to always have it close, it's an important chapter in their lives that changed everything for them after all. reason why leon touched the ring? imo just a way of closing that chapter, a ring reminding him of the night that changed him as a man after he visited raccoon city 28 years later to lay the ghost to rest, to be at peace with everything, to face that city (or what's left of it) and process the pain it caused.
it's so weird to me that capcom just didn't give a straight answer and i also don't like this idea that leon can only get older if he gets married? idk, he doesn't seem the type to marry just let him find happiness and peace in himself, without the need for a relationship but i feel like i'm one of the very few who just don't see him in a relationship, even more marriage
and before someone tries to come in and tell me "just let people enjoy things" i'm not telling you what to do, i'm not telling anyone not to imagine who he married or have fun with ur ships, but the existence of your reality doesn't negate the fact that i can view the situation completely differently and have my own feelings about it :3
