Best Part of Life: Smiling

My friend at the age of 87 years old died yesterday. Despite our age gap, we were kindred spirits in a lot of ways. He and I would sit for hours on end discussing so many different topics ranging from business to romance. I’m going to miss it tremendously: his years of experience meshed well with my desire to absorb wisdom; our keen sense of business coincided to brainstorm and bounce ideas back and forth; my love for japanese culture was one he had just as much passion for; our taste in music and trading of composers/musicians the other should listen to; the distinct favoring to cabernet and thought-provoking books that he purchased as unsolicited gifts.

I so desperately wanted to see you one last time before you left. Why was I the last person you called the night before your heart gave out? 

You were such a gift and much more family to me than some acquaintance.
