so my friend asked me for some fic recs, so i figured i’d put together a “starter pack” of recommendations… (most) of these fics are under 50k words, and give a good range of (my favorite) kind of universes.

all these fics are also finished and aren’t really super heavy emotionally. there’s plenty of other fics that hit this criteria, but i’ll try to keep the feels train a little bit on course with these recs.

canonverse

laws of survival (120k) by pasiphile this is the longest one on the list but i think it’s THE staple for post-acwr -> present canon eruri. it’s perfection.

black dog (45k) by stereobone post acwr eruri and how their relationship grows from strictly professional to not so much. beautiful.

home is wherever i’m with you (8.5k) by stereobone erwin invites levi to live with him instead of staying on base. it moves so quietly, and i love it so much. domestic eruris kill me.

aus

i wish the sea would wash you away (then bring you back to me) (15k) by kusuriuri modern au; retired dancer levi and author erwin. old married husbands that have lost the spark, get it rekindled when the young honeymooning couple next to their hotel room reminds them what it’s like to be young and in love.

the sin-eater (42k) by @valisi-clark​ original au; as usual, a beautifully written piece set in a completely original (but similar) universe. the story building is amazing, and the emotions are so raw and real.

salt (30k) by rivai-lution modern (monster) au; funny story about this… i put off reading this for so long because i’m not into monster fics, and now it’s probably in my top five favorite eruri fics ever. merman levi and post-war erwin living on an island having to deal with their trauma.

cardamom (43k) by @lostcauses-noregrets​ modern au; the eruris are archeologists that meet once, fall in love, and then have a long distance relationship. i feel like that’s a shitty description, but it’s such a lovely read.

First of all it needs to be acknowledged that 70% of the fanfiction I’ve read characterises everyone better than this book (one man’s opinion, don’t shoot).

Now that that’s out of the way, I’ve also read fanfiction that was less gay than this book. Not overtly of course, but Jesus. There’s a lot for a person like me to twist to fit their own agenda y’know?

Now, I’m a little lost as to whether Ice is the ‘cool, tall drink of water’ or the ‘too-handsome, yellow-haired smoothie’ but I’m inclined to think it’s both and the author got confused (wouldn’t be surprised, this book is not a labour of love). Unless of course Mav thinks Slider is ‘a super specimen of tall, blond muscle’. You know, the very much not blond guy?
