A Wild Ten Appears

Pre-ramble: I first played the original Doom on my partner's PC. I didn't particularly like it, but you gotta experience the classics, yaknow, and it certainly stuck with me as such. I played 2 and 3 as well, but found both mostly forgettable. Mostly I have never cared for grizzled marine man protagonists doing manly military manthings.

Doom 2016 was a completely different thing. It came at a time when I was starved for what I guess the children call "Boomer Shooters", and it had a lot of things I really liked... fast but steady movement, bassy sound design, physics that emphasise heft and weight, esoteric but straightforward lore... and Doomguy was actually fun to inhabit. I already loved how he moved in his suit, but then he saved Vega and I was sold on this one grizzly manly marine man.

And all of these things that sold me on new Doom, they kept doing as the series continued. (Except the Mick Gordon thing which I am always and forever angry over, but to my knowledge that is on Badthesda \*hairball noises*.)

If Revelation truly is the final entry in this series, and I expect it to be, it is its crowning glory to me.

the Slayer has never been hotter than in Revelations

my favourite of all the weapons and tools is to this day the meathook. The chainspear was an acceptable replacement but a bit too overloaded with functionality

i really enjoy the shield and miss it whenever I replay 2016 or Eternal

people who whine about characters and story having been added are embarrassing

Eternal is my least favourite to play because of its obsession with platforming. But it did give me the meathook so it may live.

"The Slayer" is approximately 5000% cooler than "Doomguy"

loved the women that were there, would have liked to see at least one more (Marok or Valen could have worked as women, Hayden would have been very cool as a woman even especially if Samur was still male-coded), would have liked to see at least one woman allowed to be as big and buff as the men

Tethered Slayer made me Feel Things and I mean that in the horniest way
