Best Iranian Series
Best Iranian Series Since 2009
Since 2009, when the first video on demand (VOD) series was made and released in Iran, this new means of broadcasting movies and series has had several highs and lows all the way up to the present day. However, the introduction of online VOD streaming services is seen as a watershed moment for this sector of the entertainment business. Because of this, we have compiled a list of the best Iranian series here.
In the beginning, nobody took this newly developing market very seriously at all. However, after some time, it became abundantly clear that it is a very difficult competitor for television in light of the fact that it does not have the conventional audits and regulations of content that are present in television, nor does it have its monopoly in the field of production. The most prominent figures in Iranian cinema have made their way into the video on demand industry in recent years.
1- Yaghi Series
The Outlaw Series (Yaghi) is, without exaggeration, one of the best Iranian series up to this point. The meticulous and star-studded series that holds the audience’s attention throughout each episode and makes them eager to see the next episode. Yaghi series has become the stage to see the presence of stars such as Parsa Pirouzfar and Tanaz Tabatabai together, the forceful and distinct presence of Niki Karimi and Farhad Aslani, and the gorgeous appearance of Ali Shadman along with Amir Jafari. The book Salto, which was written by Mehdi Afroozmanesh, served as inspiration for the creation of this series.
The story of Yaghi series focuses on a young man called Javid who, despite facing opposition from his family, friends, and a culture that encourages him to go in the other direction, is determined to make a path for himself and ultimately achieves his goal. According to the official description, the series Yaghi narrates a story about a hero’s journey that is full of highs and lows and has a cast of individuals from a variety of socioeconomic strata who either help him along the way or get in his way. In order to succeed, Yaghi himself often has to push through excruciating pain and exhaustion.

This series has a unique narrative in comparison to the director’s subsequent works.
The following is a synopsis of the events that took place in Mortal Wound: An emergency arises in the Rizabadi family, and as a result, everyone is eager to get a portion of this huge business. It is seen as a positive step forward for Houman Seyyedi’s career, despite the fact that it does not have a satisfying conclusion.
The following is a synopsis of the story: The Frog series tells the tale of an ordinary and almost unlucky person who rises from obscurity to become wealthy; the challenges that are placed in the path of this character from the story and also how he faces each problem complete the story line of this masterpiece. 4- Jeyran Series
The Jeyran series tells the narrative of a romance of sorts and a game of power that takes place in an Iranian court. A tale that, despite the fact that it is set in the past and relates the story of what happened there, is not a historical series. It is a fast-paced series that makes an attempt to depict love in a fresh light. The extraordinary nature of this series may be attributed, in large part, to the participation of well-known actors like Bahram Radan and Parinaz Izdiyar, as well as to the outstanding work of Merila Zarei and Amir Jafari.
Be sure to pay close attention to the clothing design of the Jeyran series while you are watching it since this is one of the ways in which it excels above other instances of its kind. The following is a plot summary of the story: the series focuses on the life of Jeyran, who was Naser al-Din Shah’s favorite mistress and his first. The majority of the performers in Raz-e Bagha had already collaborated with AghaKhani on the television series “Noon KHeh,” making this the least risky aspect of the production.

Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh movie review Life without will
Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh movie review |Life without will
Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh movie review
Houman Seyyedi is one of the young directors of Iranian cinema. He has become a prominent director with his high-quality films in recent years. Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh can be considered the peak of Houman Seyyedi's film career. This film achieved very good sales in Iranian cinemas; on the other hand, critics also gave very good marks to this film. Many critics believe that Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh is the best and most coherent film of Houman Seyyedi. According to all the essential parameters in cinema, from the script and direction to the selection and performance of actors, photography, music, etc., this movie has a remarkable quality. We are with you in this article with Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh movie review.
Houman Seyyedi; A director who knows his job
If you are a movie lover, you must know that there is a great director behind every excellent and high-quality movie. No good film can be made without a professional and skilled crew. Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh is no exception. From the first minutes of this movie, you realize that you are watching a different film. A movie that is supposed to entertain you and make you think. Maghzhaye koochak-e zangzadeh's film has several layers and appropriate complexity, unique visual expression, and excellent technical aspects. It has become one of the most popular and best-selling works of Iranian cinema.
Houman Seyyedi, the director of this film, has been able to convey the concept he had in his mind to the audience with a good narration. The peak of Houman Seyyedi's art is where the film's concept is presented to the audience from the beginning.
In the scene where Shahin (played by Navid Mohammadzadeh) says: "They say that if there is no shepherd, the sheep will perish. Either they will get lost, or wolves will attack them, or they will die of hunger because they have no brains. Anyone who does not have a brain needs a shepherd. A compassionate shepherd." The shepherd has the authority of the father of the sheep. A person is nothing without a father... He tells us when, where, and what to do. When to sit, when to sow, when to die."
The story of Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh
One of the important parameters in Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh movie review is the story of this movie. In fact, a movie without a good story is just a collection of images that are put together. At first glance, the film's story is straightforward and routine. But as we go further, the deeper layers of the story are revealed to the audience.
In general, Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh is about the leader of a criminal group named Shakur (played by Farhad Aslani). He leads a group of criminals on the city's outskirts, and Shahin and Amir are among his closest soldiers. Soldiers who were once orphaned or badly cared for children have now become brainless criminals. Criminals who only need the shepherd to order them to do it.
The story is straightforward at first glance, but deep human concepts are revealed over time in the film's story. Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh movie review is not possible without considering this aspect of the movie. Houman Seyyedi has tried his best to make a fun film and teach people about freedom because some think they must have a leader or shepherd.
But do humans have the same life as sheep? Can they finally be freed from their shackles? Why are some people afraid of being without a shepherd? Are they afraid of death or hunger? Houman Seyyedi has tried to answer all these questions in Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh. However, the conclusion in this film is entirely up to the audience, and the director has implemented his idea in Maghzhaye koochak-e zangzadeh with the least disclosure and only with good subtlety.
Why Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh is a great movie?
All the praises of the movie Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh make the question arise for the audience, are we on the side of a great film? The answer to this question is positive. Despite some flaws in conveying the concept, this movie is one of the best movies of recent years in Iranian cinema. A film that was able to receive very prestigious awards in many international festivals. Navid Mohammadzadeh's wonderful acting, along with Farhad Aslani, is another parameter that makes Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh a great movie. To prove this claim in Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh movie review, we go to some of a movie's most important quality parameters.
The wonderful performance of Navid Mohammadzadeh and Farhad Aslani
The unique performance of the actors can make a movie last. Al Pacino's performance in The Godfather and Anthony Hopkins's in The Silence of the Lambs are examples of this claim. For this reason, in Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh movie review, it can be said that one of the reasons for the greatness of this movie is the wonderful acting of the two main actors of the movie, Navid Mohammadzadeh and Farhad Aslani.
However, the characterization of the characters of Shakur and Shahin is well done, and they can be believable for the audience. Shakur and Shahin are well portrayed as father and son or shepherd and sheep, and Navid Mohammadzadeh and Farhad Aslani have managed to handle this twisted relationship well.
Unique story telling
Many movies have a good story, acting team, and good cinematography. But in the end, they cannot attract the audience. One of the main reasons for this problem is the lack of a catchy, exciting, and appropriate narrative. A good director and screenwriter should be able to tell the story of his film in such a way that the audience is waiting for the following film sequence.
Of course, in some slow-narrative cinematographic works, the story itself is considered an advantage or characteristic. But in action-packed drama films, the fast pace of narration is significant. In Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh movie review, we must mention that the narration of this movie is wonderful. In fact, from the opening sequence, the audience is well attracted to the film, and this fascinating narrative continues until the film's end.
Deep concepts of human life
As mentioned, Houman Seyyedi has tried his best to portray concepts such as free will, free life and thoughtless disobedience in Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh. For this reason, it can be said that the movie got a good score in terms of concept and purpose.
Everything is not money!
Shakur, one of the biggest and strongest criminals in his city, has a lot of wealth. On the other hand, Shahin struggles with the history of poverty and wants to have a lot of wealth. But Houman Seyyedi has proven the claim that Everything is not money! Because at the movie's end, Shahin faces a situation where he has his dream, but nothing is worth the past for him. In his film, Seyyedi does not say Everything is not money!, but portrays it.
The twist of Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh story
One of the points that should be paid special attention to in Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh movie review is the deep layers of the story of this movie. We are not in favor of a one-line story. Instead, we are going to watch several layers of different characters. That's why the plot twist of Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh has made it a great movie. However, this plot twist is not narrated well in the final sequences, and the general audience may be unable to connect with it. However, in Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh, we are on the side of one of the best story twists in Iranian cinema.
Excellent cinematography, music and technique
Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh also has a lot to say regarding parameters like music, cinematography, and technique. The tense music of the film can convey the feeling of stress to the audience. This is much more evident in the emotional sequences of the film. The cinematography of Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh is also unique and can surprise you. For example, in the movie's opening sequence, slow motion is well used so that you can get to know the movie's characters with all the details.
Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh; A film that makes you think
Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh movie review was a challenging task. Because all the parameters of this movie were at an excellent level, it was difficult to fault it. However, in this article, we examined this film work of Houman Seyyedi from different aspects of cinema. A film that teaches us to live freely and shows us that awareness can destroy all the shackles of human life under the cruel yoke.

As you can see, the story of the series relies a lot on old secrets between different people in the series. Unknown, the revelation of each of these can be very satisfactory to the audience. To answer this question, one should first check the various parameters of this series, such as the quality of the script, the music, and the quality of the actors' performances.
The parameters that each one of them can turn an ordinary series into a great series or a crap series. Therefore, to check the quality of the Bigonah series, we must check these parameters first.
In general, it should be said that Mustafa Kiaei is one of the best directors in Iran. His previous works could attract the audience's attention and become the most popular works in Iranian cinema. Therefore, you can trust Mustafa Kiaei and his team of experienced writers again. Also, the strong presence of Mohsen Kiaei in Bigonah series should not be underestimated. A strong group of actors is another parameter that can contribute to the success and quality of this series. In the following, we will learn about the most important quality parameters of the Bigonah series.
How is the performance of the actors in Bigonah series?
One of the most important quality parameters of a series is the quality of its actors. From the point of view of the acting team, the Bigonah series leaves no room for words. But when it comes to the quality of the acting performance, the Bigonah series can be closely examined. The acting of the main actors, such as Mohsin Kiaei, Masoud Raagan, Vishka Asayesh, Mahor Alvand and Shabnam Moghadami, is very high. By presenting a unique performance, these actors were able to turn the Bigonah series into a wonderful stage for themselves. The actors have been able to cope with the mysterious characterization of their characters and show the emotions of the characters well.
The performance quality of the secondary actors is not less than that of the main actors. Although the stage of the Bigonah series belongs to the main actors, the secondary actors are only supposed to help better characterize the characters of the series. So, consider the quality of the actors' performance is essential to you. In that case, we must say that Bigonah series will not disappoint you.
Unique music by Alireza Ghorbani
A movie without music will not have a high artistic value and definitely cannot attract the audience well. That's why the producers of Bigonah series have tried their best to make the music of the series amazing in every way. Alireza Ghorbani, one of the best singers of traditional music in Iran, is the main singer of Bigonah series. So, if your ears are used to listening to high-quality music, we must say that you will enjoy listening to Bigonah series.
The soundtrack of Bigonah is also at a high level in terms of quality, and it is wonderful for a drama series. The producers of the series have used this type of music well in the episodes that require sad or romantic soundtracks. Finally, it can be said that the theme of Bigonah series receives a passing grade in every aspect.
The quality and catchiness of the script
The script is the most essential quality parameter of a drama series. Crime, action, or romantic series may have a good rhythm with the use of music or exciting scenes and can attract the audience, but a drama series must have a strong script so that the audience is eager to see each episode. It will be challenging to follow a series that cannot engage the audience well.
Bigonah series has also received a passing score in terms of the script. Because all the details in the story, characterization and narration of the story have been well observed. Of course, many episodes of this series have not been published, and it is impossible to judge the script of Bigonah series fully, but in these first episodes, we are on the side of a powerful script. For example, as you can see in the synopsis of Bigonah, the story has a perfect twist, and we are not just dealing with a simple story.
This can be seen in the characterization of all the characters in the series. For example, there are no purely positive or negative characters in the series, and we are supposed to see characters that are real. However, the production group of the series could have given more depth to some secondary characters so that the audience would be interested in them as well. However, the characterization of the main characters is well done, and we are not left with any flaws.
The quality of directing and writing
As mentioned, the visions of the story of Bigonah are very appropriate, and these appropriate visions are directly related to the direction of Benazir Mustafa Kiaei and Mehran Ahmadi. These two famous directors have been able to have a perfect narrative in Bigonah. On the other hand, the cuts and arrangement of the sequences have also been made professionally. In fact, after the end of each episode, you will impatiently wait for the following Sunday to watch this fantastic series again.
Bigonah; A must-see series
When it comes to drama series, many people think that we will end up with a series without plot twists and a straightforward story. But it must be said that Iranian drama series has made significant progress in recent years. Of course, the influence of professional and creative directors like Mustafa Kiai in this field should not be ignored. Bigonah is one of the most well-made drama series recently released on Patelform Filimo, and it will surprise the audience with its story twists every Sunday. A series that you must see and enjoy, from the professional acting team to the twisty script.
Ablagh Movie | A Detailed Review of The Movie Directed by Narges Abyar
Ablagh Movie | A Detailed Review of The Movie Directed by Narges Abyar
About The Ablagh; A Film Directed By Narges Abyar
Abiyar's "Ablagh movie" is a seemingly powerful film that both wants to talk big and is different from Narges Abiyar's other previous works in terms of direction. In the movie Ablaq, apart from Bahram Radan's weak acting, there are several impressive sequences. The most important thing is the two encounters between "Jalal" (Radan) and "Rahleh" (Elnaz Shakerdoost), whose narrative suspense is both breathtaking and nail-biting. Elnaz Shakerdoost's performance in the film is also remarkable: her most crucial performance after "Suffocation," which, because this time her role was opposite to Fereydoun Jirani's film with dialogue, may indicate a turning point in her career.
But if we take into account these few little details, we can see that the Ablagh movie does not live up to any of those promises. The film does not deliver its speech in a manner that is memorable and impactful, and the visual concepts it employs while shooting does not bear any fruit other than to irritate the audience. Ablagh is, without a doubt, the least impressive of the four movies that Abyar has directed (Since "Shiyar 143" in 2014). The movie covers the narrative of a lady who lives on the outskirts of the city with her husband and kid. But the film also shows how the story of their life evolves during the course of the movie.
Ablagh Movie
In the first hour of the movie, the audience is presented with an important question: what will become of Jalal and Raheleh? In addition to this many enigma, there are one or two more minor issues, the solutions to which will be discussed in the remaining time of the Ablagh movie. However, the cumulative effect of these riddles and the manner in which one pays attention to the nuances of the film are not sufficient to alleviate the dullness that characterizes the first hour of the film.
The screenwriter has likely spent several sequences and even sections defining the characters in the Ablagh movie and establishing the atmosphere, possibly with the hope that the audience will acquire a deeper understanding of the factors that led to the development of such criminal behavior in that setting. We might highlight the scene of Ali's escape (played by Hootan Shakiba) from the hands of creditors, the set of a family celebration, pigeon keeping sequence, and the delight of the townsfolk when Jalal and Shahla (played by Gelareh Abbasi) got a boy as some of the intriguing parts of the film.
The sequence of the municipal officers going to the place to follow up on the situation of the rats and that sequence of fighting with its old symbolism, which must have wanted to make a metaphor of glory and honor, are going to be amazed the audience. A girl who is unable to speak and gain her rights in this harsh and terrifying atmosphere, or a young guy who is silent after seeing all of the wrongs that Jalal has done, are just two examples of the many symbols that can be found in this movie.
Why We Call Ablagh Movie A Boredom
In reality, the film doesn't reveal its story for an hour. And during this time, the script for Ablagh movie was unable to properly connect the deep movement of the narrative to properly create the atmosphere of the neighborhood and the people who lived there with the main story that was being told in the movie. Because of this, the Ablagh movie of Narges Abyar appears to go at a sluggish and monotonous pace.
It is fascinating to consider the plot of this picture in light of "About Eli," which was directed by Asghar Farhadi. In "About Eli," the most important event takes place sometime around the 60th minute (that is, in the middle). Up until that point, everything runs smoothly, and there is little suspense, allowing the audience to acquire a better feel for the characters and a better understanding of the issue. However, it begins with a little cliffhanger, which is "the direction that Eli and Ahmed's relationship will take." However, this warm, welcoming, and friendly environment, via the use of a soft dissolve, gradually crosses a bridge and enters the anxious second half of the film.
The picture itself does not split into two sections at this point. Remember the pantomime sequence in the middle of the movie and how it creates a feeling of nervousness and anticipation for a significant event by using a simple game between friends that has no apparent link to the screenplay.
Narges Abyar and The Way She Directed Ablagh
The Ablagh movie does not have consistent cohesion in terms of casting and direction. The camera on the quivering hands with unusual whipping pans in the packed mezzanines alongside the various discussions of the characters has merely become a cause of difficulty for the spectator as opposed to boosting the tension and psychological stress of the scenario. The long and emotional (and possibly satirical) slow motions of the local party scene (for example, the moment of blowing bubbles) or the peculiar and pointless camera movement in the scene where Jalal and Shahla watch Raheleh on the roof as if each of them were from a different movie with their own distinct visual identity. They have arrived on their own accord.
These pictures seem to have been sewn together for no apparent purpose and defy logic in the same way that a forty-piece quilt does. The Ablagh movie demonstrates that even with a skilled professional cinematographer like Saman Lotfian - whose body of work includes critically acclaimed films such as "The Last Snow" - the weight of the director's will and guidance in the final output of the camera is so daring and significant that it cannot be overstated. It does not matter how beautiful each plan is as long as the pictures do not come together to make a single texture that can be easily identified.
The cast of Ablagh Movie
The film is also affected by the composition of its actors. Bahram Radan, in the role of Jalal - a different character in his collection of works - has nothing more to offer than his other roles in these years, except for his flawless makeup. It is strange that an actor, after two decades of playing various roles, still has such problems. He still sticks his words together while speaking; It's as if you hear them halfway.
Shadi Karamroudi's role as a girl from the lower city - with her own brags and fears - is unbelievable. And Hootan Shakiba has clearly worked hard to bring this character to life. Although his efforts in the two-person solitudes with Raheleh are memorable, he has not succeeded in making Ali's complex character real. Ali is a mischievous and ignorant young man who seems to have no sense and cannot handle life, but at the crucial moment of the story, he stands by his wife with courage and honor.
After the assault sequence, the film finally comes to life. But unlike the uneventful first half, everything moves at lightning speed to reach the final conclusion. First. At the same time, we have all seen Rahele's innocence; in a sequence copied from the movie about Eli, the cards are stacked against her, and even her close friend leaves her alone in this sensitive moment.
Rahim, Jalal, and Finally Raheleh
Then, the neighborhood's women are violent, making a demon out of Jalal, as if he rapes all the women in the community. In the following, Rahim, with a passionate speech, makes the ambiguous and intertwined dimensions of the issue complete for Raheleh and leaves the final decision to herself. And now she is the one who has to decide the end of this story. In a melodious mise-en-scène, she passes through the fire, and although she seems to burn, she actually comes out of this predicament pure and reasonable because the door and the wall testify to her purity and innocence.
Verdict On Ablagh Movie
In the Ablagh movie, which she directed two years ago, Narges Abyar has gone for an inflammatory and up-to-date theme; "Me Too." She reveals what the process of sexual harassment of women is and how, when everyone knows that the male abuser is guilty, they expect patience and silence from the abused woman. In the end, the film's hero is redeemed due to the understanding, courage, and trust of her dim-witted, reckless and troublesome husband, and she leaves the neighborhood with pride.
While the infected, cruel, and uncontrollable rats of the neighbor are still hanging on each other and looking for an opportunity to bring down the oppressed character. For a director who, at least in "Nafas," made a commendable attempt to delve into the complex layers of Iranian family life half a century ago, such a look and treatment seems strangely trivial, simplistic, and even backward.

Iranian Cult Movies | The Most Important Films That Make Iranian Cinema Shine
What Is A Cult Movie (Film)
A movie that has a dedicated fanbase is known as a "cult film," "cult movie," or "cult classic." Cult movies are distinguished by their devoted and enthusiastic fandom, which coalesces into an intricate subculture. Members of this subculture see the movies several times, quote the dialogue, and actively participate in screenings. Definitions that are inclusive provide room for large studio productions, even those that tank at the box office, and explanations that are exclusive put more of an emphasis on lesser-known, subversive movies that are avoided by the mainstream. Each nation has its own cult movies. In this post, we want to talk about the best Iranian cult movies that change the path of Iranian cinema.
The difficulty in defining the word "cult cinema" and the subjectivity of determining whether films meet the criteria for that designation are similar to debates that arise when attempting to categorize works of art. The cult was a phrase that was often used in cinema analysis for decades previous to the 1970s when the term "cult film" was first used to describe the culture that surrounds underground films and midnight screenings. However, the word "cult" had been in use for decades before that.
+6 Best Iranian Cult Movies
If you have been of movie fan, you must have come across the word "cult movie" in the media and press. In cinema studies, films are usually explored in 3 fields of filmmaking (producers), audiences, and their social, cultural, and political implications, and in cult films, the second factor becomes critical. We have reviewed and introduced the essential Iranian cult movies here. A cult film is a piece of art outside the rules of the genre that attracts many fans from different strata of society as spectators and creates a social response. Let's review some Iranian cult movies and emphasize that this list will be updated with the passage of time.
Ganj-e Qarun by Siamak Yasemi
Mohammad Ali Fardin, Forouzan, and Taqi Zohuri feature in Siamak Yasemi's 1965 Iranian film Ganj-e Qarun. Ganj-e Qarun, also known as Qarun's Treasure, is a significant emblem of prosperity in Persian mythology. The biblical character Korah, who lived at the same time as Moses, is referred to as Qarun in Persian. A happy-go-lucky young guy called Ali Bigham unexpectedly saves the life of a wealthy elderly man named Qarun, who is trying suicide. Despite his great fortune, Qarun feels depressed and alone.
He has no one to live with him and is unwell. When Ali brings Qarun home, he discovers that the man there is really his own father, who long ago abandoned him and his mother. Ali initially ignores his father, but Qarun eventually captures his interest. Hasan acts as a comic to accompany Ali throughout the movie.
According to history, the film Ganj-e Qarun is the first film in Iranian cinema that has achieved millions of sales. This famous production by Siamak Yasmei created such a commotion during its cinema screening that it forced about 800,000 people - from the one million population of Tehran - to buy cinema tickets to watch the story. Ganj-e Qarun, considered one of the Iranian cult movies, shows that the poor and inferior class of society can be happier than the wealthy class.
Qeysar by Masoud Kimiai
Masoud Kimiai, an Iranian director, released Qeysar in 1969, which later is considered one of the Iranian cult movies. The movie, which was hailed as a "landmark in Iranian cinema," sparked a renewed interest in dark noir plays about offending family honor. As the titular hero Qeysar, Behrooz Vossoughi rose to fame in Iranian cinema.
In a hospital, Fati, a young lady, passes away. When her family learns she killed herself, they are distraught. In a note she leaves behind, she explains that she committed herself as a consequence of being raped by Mansour Ab-Mangol. Farman, the elder brother of Fati and a former street thug now operating a butcher shop, makes the decision to face Mansour. Farman fights with his rage and finally chooses to put down his knife before meeting Mansour after his uncle persuades him not to pursue retribution.
The bitter and tragic ending of Qeysar, compared to the happy ending of Farsi films in the late 60s, created a turning point in Iranian cinema, which for the first time introduced the words "hero" and "anti-hero" among Iranian cinema enthusiasts. The film gained such popularity among critics and the general public that it turned the movement of "Caesarism" (Qeysar Way) with its protestant elements (which preferred the administration of justice based on personal rules to adherence to current laws) into a hot debate in society.
Kandoo (Beehive) by Fereydun Gole
Behrouz Vossoughi, Davoud Rashidi, Jalal Pishvaeian, and Reza Karam Rezaei starred in the 1975 Iranian film The Beehive, which was a drama in the Persian genre and was given the title Kandoo in its original language. The film was directed by Fereydun Gole.
Inspired by ancient Iranian mystical traditions such as Attar's Seven Valleys of Love, the movie Kandoo shows a story in which Agha Hosseini (Davoud Rashidi), after winning the game "Torna," force Ebi go to cafes from Lalezar Street to Tajrish Bridge without money and visit restaurants and eat free food and drinks. Agha Mustafa (Jalal Pishvaeian) believes that Ebi will not be able to handle this task and makes a bet with Agha Hosseini on this matter.
The image of Behrouz Voshoughi at the end of the film Kandoo with that bloody and beaten face in the northernmost part of Tehran, after passing seven cafes, is one of the most memorable images recorded in the history of Iranian cult movies. An image that many fans and cinephiles of today remind each other of repeatedly.
The Tenants (Ejareh-Nesheenha) by Dariush Mehrjoei
The Tenants, also known as Ejareh-Neshinha, is a comedy film that was released in Iran in 1987 and directed by Dariush Mehrjui. It is generally agreed upon that it is the most outstanding Iranian comedy picture to have been released during the 1980s. The story revolves around a single flat in Tehran and the numerous people that call it home.
By making the movie Tenants, Dariush Mehrjoei went to a social subject whose conflicts and problems continue to this day; The culture of apartment living - which, as a sign of modernity, has replaced the big old houses with courtyards - and the formation of the housing crisis in a metropolis like Tehran, was an essential point that Mehrjoei refers to the crisis conditions of those days with humor. Playing one of his most memorable roles in the character of Abbas Agha, Ezzatullah Entezami speaks one of the most frequent monologues of the film with his sharp Tehrani tone. Critics did not notice this film in its time, but it became one of the Iranian cult movies over time.
Hamoun by Dariush Mehrjoei
The most prominent work of Dariush Mehrjoei, from its first screening at the Fajr Film Festival, made such an impression on critics and serious moviegoers and found such fans that many Iranian cinephiles watch this film again and again. "Hamoun," with its complex and self-contained narrative, which was very similar to the confusions and surprises of its main character, is one of the few wholly philosophical and mystical films shown in post-revolutionary cinema. Hamoun caused a lot of commotion in society and the press in the late 70s and created a strange dichotomy that the confrontation of its supporters and opponents continues to this day. Hamoun, without a doubt, is one of the best Iranian cult movies ever.
The Glass Agency (Ajans-e Shishei) by Ebrahim Hatamikia
The Glass Agency, an Iranian drama film from 1998 that Ebrahim Hatamikia wrote and directed, is one of his best pieces as well as one of the most well-liked and contentious movies from post-revolutionary Iranian cinema. The Glass Agency takes place at a travel agency where a veteran with a gun holds hostages after failing to earn enough cash to send his wounded buddy overseas for medical care. Some of the main rifts in contemporary Iranian society are openly exposed in the movie. Both conservatives and reformists have praised the film for its subtle message of empathy for veterans and condemnation of those who take advantage of their position for political gain.
Many critics considered "The Glass Agency" to be a copy of Sidney Lumet's famous "Dog Day Afternoon." But Ebrahim Hatamikia, with his skillful understanding and recognition of the atmosphere and conditions of his society, has achieved such an Iranianized version of the idea of hostage-taking that the value and impact of his film for us are many times greater than its American counterpart. For this matter, the film is considered one of the best Iranian cult movies.
Iranian Cult Movies Are Not Limited to These Titles
It is evident that studying "Iranian cult movies" in this country's cinema requires more detailed research than a short article, which, above all, can introduce us to a kind of sociology that includes the understanding of the behavior and interests of cinema audiences. For more titles that can be considered Iranian cult movies, we recommend you watch the movies listed below:

28th Episode of the Jeyran Series
28th Episode of the Jeyran Series
On Friday, October 5, the 28th episode of the Jeyran series, which was directed by Hassan Fathi and directed by Hassan Fathi, was shown on Filimo. In this episode, the audience observed a variety of incidents. We are going to go through the key takeaways from the 28th episode of the Jeyran series together. Golin Banoo, the first wife of Shah Qajar, visited Jeyran in the 28th episode of the Jeyran series after observing that Jeyran was grieving the death of her son.
While Golin Banoo was there, she tried to soothe Jeyran by discussing a similar suffering that they both had. The discovery of intrigues that led to the death of Shah Qajar's baby boys in order to prevent reaching the crown prince is a source of discomfort that seems to be a forerunner to a significant source of uncertainty. Jeyran was already grieving the death of her son when she heard Golin's comments, but in addition to that, she felt rage and resentment since she had just recently discovered that her son had been murdered and not passed away from a fever.
Jeyran's conflict with Taj al-Dawlah in the 28th episode of the Jeyran series
Jeyran went to Taj ol-Dowleh as a result of being prompted to do so by Golin's conversation with Nane Ashob. After hearing the news that his son would become crown prince, Taj ol-Dowleh was overjoyed and in a good mood. However, she was taken aback when she saw Jeyran seem furious and with a red face. It wasn't until then that Jeyran understood that in addition to his own kid and Golin's, the small son of Setareh, the little wife of the Shah, had also passed away when he was a youngster.
Jeyran's child and Golin's child were the only ones who died before reaching adulthood. As a result of the event, Jeyran has come to the conclusion that Taj ol-Dowleh is responsible for the deaths of the Shah's boys and has pointed the finger of blame in her direction. Even though the incident took a different turn after the arrival of Nane Ashob and the lack of evidence suggesting that Taj ol-Dowleh was a murderer, it still caused the Shah's wives to open a new border of hypocrisy and animosity toward each other, which was a precursor to the subsequent riots and violence that occurred.
The Good Fortune of the Shokouh al-Saltaneh
Nane Ashob had a different perspective on Shokouh al-Saltaneh than the other wives and concubines of the monarch, who were engaged in constant battle with one another. Despite the fact that Nane Ashob was unable to identify Mohammad Mirza's killer, Shokouh al-Saltaneh, who is pregnant and is considered to be one of the most important women in the court, would most likely be elevated to the position of Mozaffar ad-Din Shah's mother in the near future.
The crowning of Moin Al-Dawlah in the 28th episode of the Jeyran series
In the end, Naser al-Din Shah was forced to appoint Moin al-Dawlah as his crown prince and successor, despite all of the pain and suffering he went through due to the death of Mohammad Mirza. This was done in order to protect himself from any potential harm that could be caused by his half-brother Abbas Mirza. Shah Qajar was more determined than ever before to secure the continued existence of the Qajar monarchy, despite the fact that it seemed that the rest of the ladies and the adversaries of the court would have a difficult time accepting this tragedy.
The Role of Nane Ashob in the Qajar Dynasty
Nane Ashob is a witch who makes a brief appearance in the first episode of the Jeyran series. Despite her brief appearance, she has a significant impact on the story. A witch who first appeared in the narrative in the nightmare that Khadija Tajrishi, who subsequently married Naser al-Din Shah, experienced. Khadija Tajrishi eventually became the wife of Naser al-Din Shah. Later, she revealed the mystery behind the charm to Jeyran, and in recent episodes, she accompanied Naser al-Din Shah's wives, Jeyran and Golin, who are mourning for their sons, to expose the secret behind their son's death. Jeyran and Golin were joined by Naser al-Din Shah.
In the 28th episode of the Jeyran series, Nane Ashob went to the Taj Al-Sultanah chamber with Jeyran and the other wives of the king to search for signs of her involvement in the murder of Jeyran's kid. Naturally, while everything was going on, she also brought up the fortunate upbringing of the son of Shokouh al-Saltaneh, who was another wife of Naser al-Din Shah. The youngster whose name was stated by Shokouh al-Saltaneh in the preceding episodes: either Muzaffar al-Din Mirza or Mozaffar ad-Din Shah Qajar.
Behnaz Nazi As Nane Ashob
These days, a lot of people are interested in seeing the true face of the actress that plays Nane Ashob, the villainous witch from the Jeyran series. This actress has garnered a lot of attention for her role as Nane Ashob. The version of Nane Ashob that is portrayed here by Behnaz Nazi, who wears a lot of makeup for the role, has never before been documented in history.
However, a significant number of historians have shown that magic was practiced throughout the Qajar dynasty, particularly in the Sultan's harem. By the way, in one of the historical texts authored by Dr. Toluzan, it is indicated that there was a relationship between magicians and one of Naser al-Din Shah's favorite princes.
Golin Khatun, The First Wife of Naser al-Din Shah
Golin Khatun, also known as Khanum, was the first lady that Naser al-Din Shah ever married. Golin Khanum, the 19th son of Fath Ali Shah, was born to Ahmad Ali Mirza as the daughter of Golin Khanum. Golin Khanum tied the knot with Naser al-Din Shah when she was just eleven years old. She gave birth to four children: Fakhr al-Moluk, Sultan Mahmud Mirza, Afsar al-Dawlah, and Muhammad Mirza, who died at the age of nine months. Fakhr al-Moluk and Sultan Mahmud Mirza both passed away when they were eleven months old.
It has been said that this young lady's name is Umm Salma, although she is also known by the name Golin Khatun. She is the grandson of Fath Ali Shah Qajar, who married Naser al-Din Shah, who is the grandson of his cousin. This makes her the granddaughter of Fath Ali Shah Qajar. It is said that she was calligraphing during the Qajar dynasty and that she participated in creative endeavors during the 13th century. This information comes from reports. Her schooling in calligraphy included instruction from Zeyn al-Abedin Esfahani, who was one of her tutors.
She was exceptionally talented in the art of calligraphy, and she left behind a number of pieces of her work. She is an expert in poetry, in addition to calligraphy, which is one of her specialties. She was born in Georgia to a woman whose name was Zibachehereh Khanum. Her mother was Georgian. Ismat Qajar is her pen name when she writes poems.
Samira Hasanpour As Golin Khatun
We are able to cite Ali Agha, the son of Mohammad Ali Khan Nazm al-Dawlah, as one of her other masters in the art of calligraphy. She is skilled in the arts of calligraphy and poetry, as well as the art of ornamentation, which she has mastered. Because of her extensive expertise in a variety of subjects, the inquiries the princes of the court had to be directed toward her as their source of reference.
Samira Hasanpour was born on December 6, 1994, in Tehran. She is a drama graduate from Surah University and started her artistic career in 2005 at the Theater in the name of Naveed Makan and his wife, Engineer Rakhshid Farzin Bahram Bayzaei. She has appeared in the series Chardiwari and the Paytakht of Sirous Moghadam, as well as the series "Maybe It Will Happen To You" and the telefilms Ava and Mardan Namaki. Her first movie Tameshk's Saman Salor (2012), was nominated for Simorgh Crystal Award for Best Actress at the 32nd Fajr Film Festival. She married Saman Salor in 2016.
In 2019, she was nominated for the Crystal Simorgh Award for Best Supporting Actress at the Fajr Film Festival for her role in the movie "Sekam Habs."
Now It's Time for Siavash Zand
The lone living member of the Zandiye Dynasty, Siavash Zand, had a secret that was not revealed until the 28th episode of the Jeyran series. Siavash is now responsible for a greater burden. Before he became the head of an opposition movement against the central government with the assistance of Kefayat Khatun, he was a lover who had lost his way and failed in his romantic endeavors.
Now, he is enjoying a new phase in his life as the leader of the movement. An era in which, of course, Nane Ashob saw its promise of it in an atmosphere of uncertainty; however, today, it became clear that Siavash has more to offer to history, and according to Nane Ashob, nothing is a condition for nothing.
A Separation | Another Glance at the Film Nader and Simin, A Separation
Nader and Simin, A Separation

A Separation; A Movie More Than A Film
Even though it has been more than a decade since the premiere of Asghar Farhadi's most significant picture, A Separation, viewers interested in the film might find something new and appeal in viewing the film once more in the present day. When seeing the movie for a second time, one of the essential things to look out for is the discovery of minute and specific details. These details demonstrate the director's talent for turning a mundane occurrence into a dramatic situation that is both captivating and terrifying.
The success of Asghar Farhadi's fifth feature film has elevated him to such a high position that the script may easily serve as a learning unit in colleges throughout the world that teaches screenwriting and directing. In addition to having a remarkable effect on society, the picture's phenomenal success at international film festivals, for which it was nominated for the first Academy Award in the history of Iran's cinema, inspired a large number of other filmmakers to follow in his footsteps.
Because of the success of the movie "A Separation," filmmakers in Iran were inspired to produce films that could never provide the same level of creativity and effect that the story of A Separation had in the cultural and social spheres, but which nonetheless earned them recognition. It would seem that the key to Farhadi's success is a point that is both straightforward and challenging at the same time. This point is what sets him apart from all of his contemporaries and other directors. This uncomplicated argument is nothing more than an accent on the specifics.
Minute Details In “A Separation”
It is here that simple details such as taking the girl to school, leaving garbage at the door (which becomes a significant issue in court when the garbage bag is torn and the entrance stairs of the apartment are dirty), taking the change from the station attendant (which, along with the sequence of Nader's presence at Razie's house and writing a payment check in their name and recalling Nader's usual monologue about not giving money by force to anyone, shows a real manifestation of the contradictions of human behavior in different situations).
All the details above show us that we have seen a movie with an accurate and skilled filmmaker behind it that has a dramatic logic for all the moments of the story he is telling. Unlike directors who design and execute many scenes and dialogues of secondary characters just to increase the time of the film and reach the 90-minute limit of screening in cinemas; Surprisingly, Asghar Farhadi has not included any dialogue or action outside the structure of the drama or help characterization in the story.
Perhaps a look at the impact of secondary characters such as the neighbors and the teacher who tries the primary concern of the girl (Termeh, played by Sarina Farhadi), which is learning, let us know more about Asghar Farhadi's skill in complicating a simple situation through attention and focus on details.
Two Key Sequences in A Separation
Perhaps, Asghar Farhadi's intelligence can be seen in two sequences; 1) in The opening sequence - where the reason for the separation is migration to a country that offers a brighter future for them - 2) In the second scene of the film, Simin (played by Leila Hatami) amidst the clutter her house and passing through the workers who are busy carrying her piano, she went to different corners of her house to collect her belongings. This is the trembling camera on Farhadi, which, with its dynamic mise-en-scène, fuels the chaos in the atmosphere of the couple.
It takes about 7 minutes from the moment Simin enters the house to the moment she leaves, taking the nurse with her. During these 7 minutes, Asghar Farhadi quickly introduces us to the atmosphere of the house, the relationships between the main characters in his story, the grandfather who has Alzheimer's, and the nurse who agrees to work in their house to help the Simin family, making an acquaintance and spends the next few minutes of the film on the strength of the foundations of the drama, which all come to fruition in the second half with Razie's (played by Sareh Bayat) complaint against Nader.
A Separation Is NOT A Classic Drama
The exciting thing is that Farhadi, unlike the everyday classic dramas, which starts with a crisis in the relationship between the couple, and by involving them in a story, in the end, the story brings them to peace; The crisis of the couple in A Separation has continued endlessly, and even after solving their problem with Razieh's family (and despite the closeness of the husband and wife to each other, which leads to Simin's paternal house document being at their disposal), they are still aware of the divorce issue. It is deadlocked and makes the initial crisis of the film seem like an eternal inevitability.
The bitterness of the story takes on wider dimensions when we remember the girl who has always made her parents and those around her idol (We see the girl regularly studying and practicing the right behavior), and occasionally they teach her honesty and abstinence. She invites self-interested behavior by observing the mistakes and lies of his parents during the crisis, and she reaches strange conclusions from the complications of life, which even forces her to lie when faced with the judge's question; where she falsely says when facing the judge's question that she was the one who told her father about the exchange of phone numbers between the teacher and the nurse.
Maybe now, and in the face of the endless crisis that has gripped Nader and Simin's family, we can better understand the endgame that Asghar Farhadi has planned for the final chapter of his film. The end of the game comes from the heart of the drama itself and becomes an undeniable necessity.
All Things Turn Against Razieh
Both gender and social class are important considerations. In one of the scenes, a group of individuals can be seen lounging about the apartment and having a good time while playing table football. Family and friends are welcome to take part in the activity. But not Razieh. She is seen doing something quite pathetic in the kitchen where she is said to be working.
When Termeh's instructor Miss Ghahraii (Played by Merila Zare'i), stops over, she is shown respect due to a highly esteemed visitor. After all, she is instructing their daughter in the subject. However, what about Razieh? In addition, she is an essential family member since she is responsible for the care of Nader's father. On the other hand, nobody respects her. In addition to this, she is additionally constrained by the convictions of her own religious tradition.
The scenario, as shown by Farhadi, is like a pool of gasoline into which any occurrence falls like a lit match. Everyone is aware of their rights and how outraged they are when injustices or slights are committed, and the women bitterly realize that they must simultaneously discover a workable solution and persuade their male counterparts to accept it. However, the children are one item that cannot be negotiable.
Termeh takes the stage toward the conclusion. She observes everything, coerces her father into making a crucial admission, and is then painfully made to act in his place. Her suffering and rage are well concealed. But she is the one who will bear a dreadful, indescribable load—a moral and juridical burden. This is a pernicious kind of maltreatment that has been imposed upon her by the adults' conceit and greed. Farhadi skillfully and subtly turns this unpleasant argument into a modern tragedy.
A Separation Is Worth Watching Again and Again
In spite of Nader's careful care for his father, we still have a tendency to conceive of him as an authoritative patriarch along the lines of the character that Alfred Molina portrayed in the film Not Without My Daughter. However, after the opening scene, which is a magnificent single shot of the pair speaking to a judge who we only hear, Simin vanishes for a period of time.
When we were left alone with Nader, we quickly began to see how wrong our rapid judgment of his character had been. As we see him try to be a parent and provider for his daughter while also tending to the needs of his aging father, we start to empathize with him and may even find ourselves rooting for him. The remainder of the movie is spent with Farhadi using a maddening succession of mishaps to pull both of them closer to the core of the story. At long last, we recognize them for what they are: humans. They are not perfect, but there is hope for them still. Simply said, they have human characteristics.

Second Episode Of Bi Gonah Series
Unrequited love
A mind-boggling question
Manoocher’s untimely death has devastated Forough, his wife and Janan, his daughter, but it has also raised many questions like what Manoochehr wanted to tell the whole family the night of his mother-in-law’s birthday. Was he going to uncover a secret? What was the story behind the text messages on Manoochehr’s phone? Why had Manoochehr lost faith in Forough and her love for him? Both Forough and her only child are confused and cannot make head or tails of the recent happenings. There are many missing pieces to their puzzles. Why had Manoochehr rented an apartment of his own? We hope to find the answers in the following episodes.
INNOCENT BIGONAH
The best section of the second episode
Sina, the oldest child in Ata’s family, is crazy about rap music. He is a member of a rap group in which there’s a girl who has been harassed by a man. He shows a lot of chutzpah by going to the man’s clothing store and fobbing himself off as a customer. When the opportunity presents itself, Sina is quick-enough to take the man’s laptop and run away. Later as he is being followed by several people including the police, he throws the laptop, which apparently had some indecent photos of the girl, on the street and it smashes into tiny pieces! (It was absolutely brave of him, kudos to Sina) This part was, hands down, the most intriguing part of this episode.
Love and futility
The relationship between Forough and Bahman had reached a cul-de-sac thanks to Rashid Farshbaf, Forough’s dad. Though we still don’t have a clue as to why Rashid sent his potential son-in-law overseas, suffice to say he made his daughter live with a man she had no feelings for! In her novels, Forough has written about her failure in love and you can feel how desparately in love she had been with the man she had never forgotten all these years.
Me too movement
The youngest daughter of Rashid Farshbaf, Yalda, who is an executive editor of a cultural magazine had intended to interview with a renowned artist who happens to be acquainted with her father. To this end, she invited him to the magazine’s office, where Yalda claimed they served the best coffee! Farhang Kesrati, the host and the interviewee, however, cancelled the meeting on short notice and suggested that Yalda pay him a visit at his apartment instead. Reluctant and disgusted, she refused the invite, but she blew a gasket when she learnt this is a very common practice for Kesrati and he has lured several other women into going to his place and has sexually harassed them. Me too movement has recently gained popularity in Iran and has provided women with the opportunity to publicize their experiences of sexual abuse in an attempt to stop cruelty against women. This plot can thicken in the following episodes.
Bahman’s lucky charm
Mustering up enough courage, Bahman visited the house previously owned by Farshbafs and now inhabited by Mahtab, Bahman’s ex-wife and her mother ( Roya Teymoorian) in Monirieh neighbourhood where he met Mahtab’s indignant mother. She explicitly asked Bahman not to get in touch with Mahtab as it would devastate her. Bahman later went to the old house’s basement and was able to find the very coin he had hidden there decades ago, his brother’s memento.
Taking the youth into account
Ata (Mehran Ahmadi) is a considerate and caring father who has his daughter’s back, but tries to be next to her, not in front of her. He knows Sarina is keen on photography and uses it as a means to encourage her to be productive and to keep her away from the evil of the society. His wife is an overprotective mum though and her being strict has driven a wedge between Sarina and her.
The world of cryptocurrencies
Janan, Sohrab’s niece, is in a relationship with Vahid, an intimate friend of Sohrab’s. In the first episode, I hope you remember, we saw Vahid was abducted by some men and was later thrown into a giant street dustbin! In this episode, we figured out that Sohrab and his buddy are involved in Bitcoin mining business and the thieves have stolen their codes.

Shades Of Gray In The World Of Yaghi’s Characters
In the 11th episode of Yaghi, Javid finally managed to draw a line between emotions and logic by not letting his feelings take the better of him. He can’t be distracted or driven away from his objectives, nor risk his relative success in the realm of wrestling. He has made a vow to himself not to go astray from his goals no matter what ebbs and flows life has in store for him and is resolute-enough to be a man of his word. Wrestling can shine light on the otherwise dismal life of Javid, hence he has made up his mind to continue wrestling and stand by his goal which is hopefully going to take him to fortune and prosperity.

Shadravan Movie Review
Shadravan is the second movie directed by Hosein Namazi first presented in the 40th fajr festival and now available on Televika. Shot in the suburban parts of Tehran, Shadravan is about a slum-dwelling family. Living hand to mouth by merely selling herbs, Nader, the oldest child of the family, has to pay all the expenses of his now deceased father’s hospital treatment and burial. This comedy mainly centers on this family’s effort to pay the bills for their father’s funeral. Shadravan is written and directed by Hosein Namazi and produced by Abas Naderan.
The cast:
Reza Rooygari, Bahram Ebrahimi, Roya Teymoorian,Iman Baratpoor, Sina Mehrad, Gelare Abasi, Nazanin Bayati, Behrang Alavi, Hafez Nabizadeh, Behnaz Naderi, Azam Kaboodian, Farnaz Salehtash, Elahe Afshari,Mohsen Mehri, Sajad Rezaei, Babak Jafarie, Maryam Afshar and Mohamad Moosa Akbari
What movie critics said
Reza Daemi
A poor and irresponsible dad is much of a trouble even once dead. Meanwhile, all the people related to the dead man, one way or another, try to help the family organize a reputable memorial service which most probably reminds us of Mehmane maman in which neighbours and relatives united to throw a party. Shadravan is a black comedy illustrating how Orwellian life is for poverty-stricken people.
The movie is appealing and has potentials. It stands away from misplaced levity and fecklessness. It’s a good example of observational comedy. There is a curious paradox between the bitter events of the story and a twinge of comedy in them.
Three features of Shadravan
Success in making a minimalist comedy
Extraordinary acting especially by Sina Mehrad and Nazanin Bayati
Low comedy avoidance
Seyed Arya Ghoreyshi
Appealing and involving, Shadravan has high potentials. The acting and the paradox between tone and content is exciting and unpredictable. Some of the actors, namely Behrang Alavi play quite professionally. Having said that, the film doesn’t have much to offer past the first 20 minutes or so and this shortcoming has its roots in the script’s lack of clarity and direction. The story seems stranded which is so common in Iranian movies. What is Shadravan really all about? A man’s metamorphosis from a selfish person to a devoted one? The importance of helping someone up? or an effort to release a corpse from the hospital?!
Apparently, it is about all the above-mentioned, but in practice the director hasn’t been able to link these ideas well togetherEach section of the movie deals with one aspect and all you see is incompatibility.
Three features of Shadravan
Behrang Alavi’s performance which is unlike his other roles in other films
Professional make-up
Scanty humor and fragmentary account of the story
Ali Naeimi
Shadravan is an observational movie by Hosein Namazi, a paradoxical encounter of comedy and tragedy. It’s a genre we have already seen in other directors’ films such as Reza Kahani.
Three features of Shadravan
Skillful act especially by Behrang Alavi and Sina Mehrad
The sequence in a registry for receiving an ID card
Creating comic moments
Kamal Poor Kaveh
Just like many other films produced in the contemporary cinema of Iran, Shadravan takes its audience as naïve, undemanding and uncritical! It reminds us of the soap operas of 70s in Iran like Zire Asemane Shahr with one notable difference and that is cheap and vulgar humour. Actors like Gelare Abasi and Nazanin Bayati who had only begun to make a name for themselves, ruined their reputation by appearing in this movie.
Three features of Shadravan
The devastating ending
Behrang Alavi’s different acting
The romantic relationship between the actors Gelare Abasi and Sina Mehrad which is hilarious
What the cast and crew said
Hosein Namazi
I had written an account of this story in a newspaper and decided to make a movie out of it using my own interpretation. If I feel like I have what it takes to make a film, I’ll definitely go for it. The ending of Shadravan is by no means comic, but rather melodramatic and a sweet one indeed!
Sina Mehrad
When I was offered a role in Shadravan, I admired Hosein Namazi and Abas Naderan for having taken this risk. I went through the script and weren’t concerned about my different though not challenging role.
Roya Teymoorian
Hosein Namazi and I had already worked with each other. I already knew he embarks on a new movie production after listening to many ideas and suggestions. Hence, I didn’t hesitate to play the role of Nazi. I would call it a transparent refreshing movie.

Exactly the opposite of chess, some games start only after checkmate!
The broadcast of the Iranian mini-series "Darmangar" (The Therapist) has started on Televika. This series has a mysterious theme, which makes it one of the most different TV series.
During the last few years, famous platforms like Netflix and HBO have released episodes of some series all at once. Televika is the first VOD platform that legally releases this unique dark-themed mini-series "Darmangar".
The story of the "Darmangar":
"Baran" has been secretly visiting a therapist "Atabak Masoudi" for some time due to depression, without her husband's knowledge, but something strange happens, and she asks her therapist to come to her home to help.
About the series:
Today, the world's major VOD platforms have started to innovate and have produced many series that are very different from what we used to watch on TV. This difference is not only in the episode releasing method but also in the episode's duration. The Emmy-winning mini-series Love Death + Robots by Tim Miller and David Fincher is one of those series with short episodes. The success of this mini-series encouraged Netflix to produce "Man vs. Bee" with nine short episodes.
Televika has released all five episodes of "Darmangar" mini-series together with a duration fewer than 10 minutes for each episode. The mystery genre and the fact that this content is a mini-series and its short duration episodes are something that we rarely see in Iranian cinema and series, and these features make "Darmangar" unique.
In praise of the opening sequence of the mini-series Darmangar:
The opening credits of "Darmangar" is very calculated, and the interesting thing is that the opening credits of each episode give you more information. Unlike boring routine opening sequences, you can enjoy watching Darmangar's intro, and the credits itself is mysterious and suspicious.
The atmosphere of the series is very close to the Film Noir style. The noir style has always had an ambiguous and enigmatic quality. This style, dark atmosphere, night, rain, cold and soulless characters, the makeup, the colorless clothes, and the little lighting helped this mini-series to increase its charm and impact. The main feature of this mini-series is this uniformity in the service of mystery. The number of shots is not many, and each shot conveys important information to the viewer. The music in this series is very efficient, effective and serves the purpose of the series.
Despite the few characters presented in "Darmangar", the screenplay manages to create a clever story. Every dialogue or event has a reason and ultimately surprises the audience. This mini-series proves well that it values the audiences.
If you are interested in the mystery genre, you should Darmangar. Watching this series on Televika will be a different enjoyable experience.
