Thinking Over Easy

I made a new blog a few day ago. This one is a lot more personal, and I want to start using it as a journal of sorts to organize my thoughts, track my goals, and have a timeline of my imperfect perspective. It will definitely be continuing from now, through the stressful day before graduation, and an amazing summer leading up to the extreme life change of going to college in chicago. 

So, for the past year I've thought that if I were to ever get a tattoo, I I could never get just one. I would be covered from just below my belt to my colar bones, a few on one side of my neck, and my arms covered all the way to my wrist. Now a lot of people have told me I dress quite well, that I stay "classy" and have style, but if I could live twice I would be more inked then a gel pen. Now I've always thought that I would be covered, but I never thought of what I would get. I mean there is a lot of space on my body. What would I put on there?

- The center of my chest would be a DSLR camera, cheesy, I know. I'm a photographer and everything so it's a little cliche, but it tells a lot about me. Around it would be pointed rays in a circular patter, making the camera look like the sun. 

(The camera would be aimed straight ahead because one of my favorite angles is the "straight on" angle)

-  On my lower spine I would put an outlet, yeah that's right an electrical outlet. It doesn't symbolize anything, I just thought it would look cool.

- On my right peck just below the colar bone, but closer to my shoulder, I would put a simple black box. But it would have an LED display showing this 00:00. It symbolizes the amount of time I have left in life, which is something I don't know, hence the 0's. The black box would have three wires branching from it all symbolizing my love for technology, the first would be the adapter used to charge iPhones, the second would be a USB, the third would be an Mp3 cable. These three cables would run the length of my arm and twist around it all the way to the inside of my wrist where they would tangle and knot just below my palm, fraying in three directions like a hand of fanned playing cards.

- Symmetrical to the black box, on my left peck I would have a wheel of colors (this being the only colored ink on my body) it would be a standard color wheel, but there would be double ended arrows pointing out the complementary colors, (WHICH I HAVE AN ODD OBSESSION FOR) The colors would be simple circular swatches.

-Now tattoos that fill up empty space can be hard to choose, but if there is anything that fills the space between my thoughts, it's Slug's lyrics. Now I'm not saying I would put simple quotes on my body, but I would put the lyrics to full length songs by my favorite band on my body. On my right arm and only my right arm I would have cursive styled lyrics traveling in between the twisting cords. The lyrics would cover my entire arm and would fade when they got close to the cords as if the cords are the top layer. There would be only one song from each of his albums and they would be my favorite on that album. The angle of the writing would not be parallel with my arm or perpendicular but angled so that both I and anyone looking at my arm could read them. The reason for having the writing on my right arm is because it is my dominant arm and I can write with it. Also because I relate my decision making with it as I use it to shake hands, point things out, and wave goodbye to people with. 

- Wrapping around the front and back of my body would be a blueprint of a city, one that I would design on my own and for specific reasons, this would take a lot of deeper thought and I would probably spend a good month to just plan it out and redraw it until it was perfect. The city would be birds eye view and it would include the graphing lines from blueprint paper.

- On my left arm would be something I would love to see on my body. Being a very visual person, it bothers me when I don't look at something and see its full composition so to have something on my arm is difficult because I cant see all the way around it, so to put one of my favorite paintings on it would also be difficult. So I decided that it would be a roll of stamps. The base of the roll holding more of the painting would be 2D and a side view bordering the color wheel on my peck. It would un roll and become more wavy like a flag as it runs down my arm. And every other stamp would be an inverse of the painting, although white and black are not colors, they are still complementary and the fact that the inverse shades run along a spool that is bordering a color wheel of complementary colors, it is quite fitting. The strip of stamps would morph into a roll of film and continue down the length of my arm (keep in mind that the strip is just like the cords and make a coil effect) and goes all the way to the inside of my wrist. The end of the reel is burned to represent that the reel does not end, it is simply stopped. The film represents my love for movies as well as photography. And the reason it doesn't end it just stops is due to the fact that I will not live forever my love and creativity will simply stop. 

- To fill the space between the film/stamp strip, I would have a map of the world to represent my love for traveling.

- My final and probably my favorite idea for a tattoo would be a fake watch at the end of my left wrist. It would have everything a normal watch would have, except hands. I love the idea of a life without time. This tattoo would represent so many things for me.
