hi anon. you're right, I am aware that Call of Duty is very obviously military propaganda. It's sort of the reason why I still don't know anything about the actual game of Modern Warfare 2, and essentially use it as an overly narrative-driven porn backdrop. I completely understand you're coming from a sincerely concerned place, but I also don't completely agree with the stance that people who create fan-content that is clearly irreverent of the overly-masculine power fantasy that Call of Duty sells should be held responsible for adding disclaimers about the military industrial complex.

It's why all the content I've drawn for my comics is largely self contained and in the only 'mission' that I've included in the story, enemies are faceless, masked drones. which you might say may contribute to the military perspective that it's us against them, but I've seen how these war games demonise middle eastern people into cliche enemies and I thought putting them all in masks and making them out to basically be Enemy A, B and C would be a better option. Personally, I've genuinely tried my best to not romanticise the 'military' part of these characters at all. The stuff I make with them is purposefully engineered to focus on the personalities and inter-personal dynamics of these characters - their jobs are basically party city costumes I put them in.

I really really hope this doesn't come off as defensive. God knows the last thing I'd ever want to do is make you feel bad about bringing this up because it's a good thing to be concerned about. But I earnestly believe this fandom space is a far far cry from reality. I...sort of see it like the mafia trope in fandom space. The mafia still exist! It's present in communities in really negative ways. But the way that people in fandom use it as a trope is comedically detached from reality. It's tropey, it's a fanfiction setting, it's an excuse for found family dynamics and putting people in suits. And I don't really think that mafia aus are causing people to chomp at the bit to join their nearest suit-wearing crime syndicate?

It doesn’t matter if you’re into Call of Duty, this is important.

We all know König’s voice actor, Jim Boeven is not a great person. He has shown himself to be homophobic, transphobic, misogynistic, etc.

Just last night, a 16 year old girl messaged me about a year ago (meaning she was 15 at the time) who will be remained anonymous for very good reasons, saying how awful he was in dms.

This is her exposing him for being sexist. She said that she was explaining what sigma meant and how sexist it is. This was his response.

And though I do not have many screenshots, a friend of this person has them, but is scared to come out about this, there are screenshots of him inappropriately talking to this 15 year old girl. I will show you all what I have and I’ll be trying to get more.

I understand that the other screenshot is not good evidence and it could be easily fake (not saying this girl is lying) but I’m putting this out there for any minors or anyone who had talked to Jim Boeven and it took an inappropriate turn. You are not alone.

If you would like to stand up and you have evidence, I am here for you. I can be your voice like how I am for these girls.

No matter how much you like/adore certain celebrity, they aren’t all as nice as they seem they are. Despite me not being part of the CoD fandom, I did like the König character and i’m disappointed to read this coming from his voice actor.
