“RUSSIAN DOLL”

I wanted “Russian Doll” to feel almost like an outro but to also just try to get as many bars out as possible. I feel like we achieved this through less of a percussive presence on the beat.

Tryna find a favourite bar in here is hard so here’s my top three from this tune.

1) “Masks on my heart now that shits gone cold, I’ve got versions of myself inside like I’m a Russian doll” 2) “Need ‘self care’ can’t work when the macs dead, Recording my thoughts is the only time I talk’ (Mac Miller reference, if you caught that one you’re a legend) 3) “notes into notes when I’m hot right?, But to get the cream I need to be off white”

“NEXT UP ” Took a bit of a different approach to this one. Still tryna be clever with lyrics but much more focused on the rhyme patterns and schemes I could come up with here.

Favourite lyric here is “You ain’t levelling anything man I’m bringing the fire, I need money when I kill it, murder for hire”

Just for fun! Had a lot of fun writing this, not taking anything seriously with the process this time around.

Favourite lyric is probably the opening bar to be honest “Stepping to my family you’ll get laid out, After catching more punches than a rap song breakdown”

Track 4 : “Head Home”

Away With Words EP Breakdown . . Mogal explains the concept behind the track: “HEAD HOME ” Hard to really explain this one but I guess it’s just me coming to the conclusion I need to stop going out partying so much. I’ll let the lyrics speak for themselves past that.

Favourite lyric on this one “Selfish helpless ain’t learning a lesson, Take take take like a studio session”

Track 3: Man-Made Mountains

Away With Words EP breakdown . . Mogal explains the concept behind the track: This one is a little deeper. Still sticking with the wordplay theme that courses through this project but on this song on more of an emotional level.

My favourite lyric from this tune is “Man made mounts imma reach peaks first, They say that our actions speak louder than words, but I was in a dark place so they were all I heard, but now I’ve seen the light so please do your worst”

From the Away With Words EP . . Mogal explains the concept behind the track: This track to me is just setting the tone. Linking together some rhyme schemes with wordplay and carrying the message I’m here for the long run.
