The Dutch airline KLM announced Monday that it would team up with the Delft University of Technology to develop the lightweight, fuel-efficient “Flying-V” aircraft. The Flying-V, as its name suggests, is shaped like that letter of the alphabet V with no central fuselage. The passenger cabins, cargo hold, and fuel tanks will live in both of the Flying-V’s wings. Massachusetts startup Alaka’i unveiled a model of full-fledged flying vehicle to be powered by hydrogen fuel cells. The new flying vehicle is called Skai and developed with the help of BMW. The Skai is about the size of a minivan, five-seat SUV with landing skids and an array of six horizontal rotors attached at the end of arms protruding from the roof of the craft.
