Gaza is still bleeding !!!!

People keep saying there’s a ceasefire but every single day we wake up to another explosion, another family destroyed, another name added to the list of martyrs. I’m writing this because the world thinks Gaza is “calm” now.

It’s not. The bombs didn’t stop. The drones didn’t stop. The funerals didn’t stop.

During this so-called ceasefire, dozens of people were killed. Homes were burned. Children were pulled from under the rubble. You’ll see the photos I’m adding below - all taken during the “pause”. This is what our reality looks like.

My own family is suffering too. We lost relatives. We lost our home.

312 Palestinians have been killed, entire families wiped out during a time that was supposed to bring safety.!

Being disabled means someone is unable to do something that someone without disability can do just fine (or with some degree of effort). There is varying degrees of this. When a disabled person says 'I can't do this', it could mean any of the following:

I am physically and mentally capable of doing this but for some other third reason I am not able to do this right now.

I am physically capable of doing this but something is mentally (or neurologically) stopping me from doing it.

I am physically and/or mentally capable of doing this at the expense of being in pain/fatigue/dizzy/something else later as a result so I will not do it.

I am physically and/or mentally capable of doing this but I will feel in pain/fatigued/dizzy/something else while I am actively doing it so I will not do it.

I am not physically and/or mentally capable of doing this under any circumstances. (even if my life depended on it)

A disabled person may experience varying degrees of these for different abilities. They might also change during the year/month/week/day/hour. They are not set in stone (although number 5 will often be something permanent, but it doesn't have to be!).

When someone tells you they are unable to do something, it is not your job to question them on which of these is the reason they can't do something. You just have to take it at face value. The only time asking about this could be important is in settings where there is certain safety procedures, such as having to know if a disabled person would be able to walk a couple steps in case of a fire or if they would need other transportation out of the building.
