Demand Change: Erase Wrongful Arrest Records
On August 22, 2014, Charles Belk was wrongfully arrested and held by the Beverly Hills Police. In the days and weeks that followed, he learned that despite apologies and admissions of wrong-doing on the police’s part, his arrest record still existed. The police called what happened to him a detention, not an arrest; yet an arrest record existed. The fact is, for countless Americans who are wrongfully arrested, their arrest records persist and it takes time, money, and tireless fighting to have those records expunged, sealed, or erased. This is wrong. We want to change that. Charles has started a fight that we want to see through until the end. Please help us to stop further injustices from being carried out by a system that ignores its own deficiencies at the expense of innocent people.
