SHE KNOWS HIM //  she knows him better than she knows anyone. she knows that he probably hasn’t moved from her side since then ( however long ago that was ) & she knows that he’s protecting her from the gruesome details of whatever happened to her. in a way, she’s thankful for it. the last thing she wants to think about is how she almost died – even if it’s evident to her every time she tries to breathe. she feels like there’s a weight on her chest, but at least she’s breathing. butterflies settle in her stomach at the feeling of his thumb against her skin, a warm smile spreading on her lips. as usual, he manages to make a horrible situation better.  she winces when she tries to move & she hopes that he doesn’t notice it. ❛ – no, no. âťś  she starts, not wanting him to leave. her grip on his hand tightens some & she feels like they’re dating again. ( she knows that’s problematic, but she almost died. she deserves this. )  ❛  i just –  ❜ there’s a pause & she takes a breath, âť› can you just stay? please?  ❜ Â
OF COURSE HE NOTICES  //  blame his superhuman senses ,  or his intuition  --  he knows its perfectly normal for her to be in PAIN  &  perfectly normal for her to ASK for something to take her pain away ,  but its allison ,  allison who swallows her pain to help the ones she loves .  he nods immediately at her petition  (  he would give her anything she wanted ,  the moon ,  the stars ,  the galaxies ;  he’d swallow the sun if it meant carrying it around to keep her warm  ) .  “  YEAH, yeah of course... ”  how easy it was for him to fall back into old habits when allison was involved .  his hand drifts from her’s ,  up her arm at a steady pace as he gains leverage to lean over the bed to press a firm kiss to her forehead .  he’s so careful ,  almost as if she’s glass  &  she’ll shatter under his touch ,  but he uses the momentary distraction to take her pain ,  to  let her breathe .  he feels it in his fingertips ,  in his veins -- “ do you want anything ?  i don’t think you can drink water yet but i can ask the nurse... ”
