Because I think people forget that Shane and Ilya were in a secret committed relationship for three years.

I just saw a post that started with criticizing Ilya for inviting Troy and Harris to the cottage “without asking Shane”, saying it was crossing a boundary (I blocked the account, because we can do that! We can just block accounts we don’t agree with!) and I wonder if the poster just…doesn’t understand that Ilya and Shane had been dating for three years.

That’s not just Shane’s cottage by that point. It is also Ilya’s cottage. It had become THEIR cottage.

This is also why I think people really struggle with how Ilya and Shane act in TLG. Because those readers are not thinking about their “favorite” characters being in a secret relationship for three years.

“She used to laugh a lot.”

Naim says this after his little story about his mom equating the bells of an ice cream truck to God’s presence.

And that really got to me.

Just think about Naim, who grew up hearing his mom laughing, almost always having a smile on her face.

Maybe her husband Tom always had a good joke, or maybe Arlene was always able to find something joyous to laugh about.

Even before her husband’s death, Arlene was religious, but she seemed to have viewed it as God’s presence being in the everyday light of life.

Because she used to laugh a lot.

But then her husband died. And Naim lost his dad. And she lost her closest friend. Her partner.

And she felt so alone in her grief because before he was gone, she and Tom “wouldn’t talk about it”.

So when the darkness finally took Tom, it took her joy as well.

This is neither a positive nor negative statement.

Random Tumblr User: They combined Fabian and Harris and are just giving Fabian’s friends to Harris and there isn’t going to be a Tough Guy storyline.

This is the first of FOUR fanfics I plan to write for Leviticus.

Specifically thinking about their relationships with one another’s younger sisters.

I just know in my heart that Ryan’s sister Colleen ADORES Fabian.

She’s texting him to ask how the big gigs went. She’s checking in about movies and tv shows they recommended to each other. She and Fabian coordinate what to get Ryan for his birthday and Christmas.

She is grateful Ryan finally has someone to help him through the bad days. She is touched that Ryan is unbelievably happy and in love. She is delighted that Ryan and Fabian are obsessed with one another. She is also proud that Ryan is unapologetically comfortable in his queerness with Fabian.

Fabian meanwhile feels like he now has two spunky and supportive younger sisters. He sees a lot of his younger sister in Colleen so whenever they talk, it lessens any ache he feels when he’s missing his own little sister.

And for Ryan, I think Fabian’s younger sister Amy really appreciates him loving her older brother.

She’s asking Ryan about his travels with Fabian. She’s telling Fabian to pass the phone over to Ryan just to yap at him about her college courses. When she’s feeling anxious or worried, she’ll personally contact Ryan to ask him questions. And she totally sees Ryan as the same teenager who let her ride his back and pretend he was a dinosaur.

She is relieved Fabian has someone to take care of and love him. She likes that Ryan attends every single one of Fabian’s shows that he can go to without a flight. She respects that Ryan decided to live the rest of his life for himself and for Fabian.

Do you guys even enjoy the storylines?

Do you guys even accept the characters?

Do you guys even understand that the author wrote what they wrote and that’s simply fact for the stories?

We get to see Justice all smiley and bubbly???

We get to see Charlie all sad and depressed and obsessed???

We get to see them FLIRT???

We get to see them FALL IN LOVE???

WE GET TO SEE THEM HAVE SEX???

Anyways.

Please stand ten feet away from me as I say this:

There is nothing in the books that say Troy is racist.

So Justice Smith being casted as Harris doesn’t make the Troy and Harris relationship problematic.
