In 2020, Tom and family moved away from LA. Here's a look at Tom's attempts to get Michael to visit, and how he succeeded this year!

2021

Michael: "I don't really leave the house much. It's true."

Tom: "Well, come up here."

Michael: "I'm gonna come up there. I told you I'm gonna come up."

Tom: "I almost tried to blackmail you and say I wouldn't come on your podcast unless you did it live here. I should've done that."

Michael: "I'll do that next time."

(A few minutes later)

Tom: "You know, come up here where I am. We can just shoot on my property and climb mountains and do something fun."

Tom: "Well, Michael just came to visit and my 7 year old son was teaching Michael how to read music-"

Michael: "Yeah, I don't read music-"

Tom: "-which is funny because he's got a couple of albums

Michael: "He's like, seven. He's like "put your finger here." He's so cute. His kids. I just stayed with him for the weekend, this last weekend. It was awesome. It was just cool."

Tom: "Might have changed your life."

Michael: "And I went to the casino. He walked away for 10 minutes. He came back. I won the jackpot.

Tom: "Buffalo!"

Michael: "Buffalo!"

Tom: "Doing the podcast, we rewatch the episodes and we're into season 8 now, and it feels very different between Clark and Lex because they're not friends any more. And even watching it, it feels really awkward. Yeah."

Kristin: "Because it was such a big part of what held the show together?"

Tom: "Yeah."

Michael: "You know what's cool though? Me and Tom have become really close friends after the show. It's been really cool. We were friends on the show, but we were always busy and we became very close. Now, we're like brothers. "I loved you like a brother, Clark."

Tom: "You might be one of my longest friendships."

Michael: "Lana? I mean, as Lex Luthor? Probably?"

Kristin: "He was much more obsessed with Clark."

Michael: "True."

Fan: "Clark, why did you never tell the truth to Lex? He was your best friend!"

Tom: "Picture Clark waking up after Lex giving him mouth to mouth in the pilot, and Clark reaches up and gently touches Lex's face, and he says "Lex, I'm from another planet." The show would end right there."

Michael: "True. But-"

Love how Tom and Michael like to envision a version of Smallville in which Clark and Lex stay besties! (Speedy Comicon, 2020)

Tom: “I think it would be a fun scene, post-Smallville, if Clark puts the suit on and there’s a day when he’s at the Luthor mansion and Lex is like “Go go, they need you!” I think that would be hilarious!”

Michael: “It would be cool if they had an episode where it was the future and Tom’s already, you know…and somehow we made things work. People are like “Wait a minute!” In this alternate universe, Clark and Lex are friends and Clark is like “I have this dilemma!” and Lex is like “I think you could fly here and save that dude and go here!” Working together, it could really have been a cool moment, even if it was fantasy. But it’s all fantasy…”

Fan: "This question is for Tom. I wanted to know what you thought was Clark's best relationship on the show."

I was at Liverpool Comicon last weekend. A Fan asked That Question...

Fan: “My question is for all of you and I’m just going to say it. Are you Team Clana or Team Clois?”

Tom: “Or Team Clex.”

Fan: "Who between Lana and Lois did you have the most chemistry on set with?"

@sassylittlecanary requested the source for this quote from Smallville writer/producer Kelly Souders!

Kelly: "We actually think of it as the Clark/Lex love story and we actually write scenes with that in mind, which is this is a big romance between these two people. I think some of those subterranean readings are not quite so sub."

Michael did a great interview with Screen Rant this week!

Michael: "Sometimes I wouldn't think at all, sometimes the camera would just move in on me and I turned my head. I wasn't thinking about anything, and people would say, 'Oh my gosh, what were you thinking about?' I'd go 'Nothing! I was thinking about nothing. Lunch, I'm hungry!' I think that's sometimes when you can clear your brain of thought, people wonder 'What is he up to?' He's not up to anything, he's just checking out Clark's butt!"
