So I wrote a draft and I lost it halfway through. Here’s draft number two.
To my readers who aren’t big fans of Taron Egerton (who plays Eggsy), I highly recommend you look him up. Fine species of a man, he is.
Your phone buzzed as you were placing the tray of eggs into your cart. As you walked, you pulled your phone out of your pocket and giggled like a schoolgirl when your boyfriend’s name flashed on the screen.
Eggsy: Where you at, love?
You smiled, pausing by the bread aisle to respond to him
You: Doing groceries. I’m at the one near the cinema.
Eggsy: Working in the area. Let me take you out to dinner? ;)
You: I always thought you had a thing for me.
Eggsy: I’m crazy about you. How about that dinner?
You: Almost done with groceries so I’ll wait for you at the park.
Eggsy: Sounds like a plan. See you x
You turned to the juice aisle and shoved your phone back into your pocket. You were about to look for the orange juice Eggsy loved so much when you heard a woman shriek.
You froze, slowly reaching for your phone getting ready to dial Eggsy in case it’s something serious. He always warned you about this. Eggsy inevitably had a lot of enemies so that puts you in constant danger, too. Never overlook a sign of danger, he told you.
You’ve never been in danger, luckily. You were about to tap on the Contacts icon when you heard footsteps and a gun cock behind you. You quickly put your phone in your pocket.
“Hands up where I can see them,” a male voice said from behind you.
Shakily, you visualized your phone screen in your pocket and imagined a dial pad. You tapped out Eggsy’s number, hoping you got all the digits right and that you actually rung him.
You then obeyed the man behind you, raising your hands to your head.
“Good girl,” he said. “now, turn around.”
You slowly turned to face him. The man looked about Eggsy’s age.
“Do you know who I am, Y/N?”
You raised your eyebrows a little.
“Oh, yes, I know who you are.” his expression turned from polite to dark. “You’re the girl who makes my job twice as hard.”
“There must be some mistake,” you spoke, voice trembling. His gun was still pointed at you. “I’ve never seen you before in my life.”
“Nor I you,” he answered. “but you have seen a Galahad in your lifetime, haven’t you?”
You stayed silent. You were well aware of Eggsy’s code name. It was among the few things you knew about his job at Kingsman.
“I think you’ve seen him a decent number of times. You know him like you know your own body, don’t you?” he said, looking at you from head to toe. You shifted slightly.
“We were going to do this quietly, you know. We planned on invading your house instead, but we didn’t have much time to wait for you to get home. See how many innocent lives you’ve cost us, Y/N?”
“As we speak, about nine dead bodies are lying on the same floor as us.” Suddenly, the man looked over your shoulder and pulled you towards him, pressing the gun to your temple. You shut your eyes, waiting for the impact.
“What the hell do you want?” a familiar voice asked. You opened your eyes.
Eggsy was standing in front of you, clad in his suit, umbrella in his left hand. He looked nonchalant, but you could see the fear in his eyes.
“You know what we want, Galahad, and you haven’t given it to us. So you see we had to take more... extreme measures.” the man tightened his hold around you and you tried not to wince.
“You know I can’t do that,” Eggsy tilted his head to the side. “But... you see, you’re at an advantage here.” he used his umbrella to point at you. “I’d do anything for that woman. Anything. And now, her life is in your hands.” he set the umbrella down, leaning on it.
The man pretended to consider this. “True. Give us what we want, then.”
Eggsy stood up straight, chin up, and said, “no.”
Suddenly the man was pulled off of you and for a while, you couldn’t move. As you heard Harry attack the man a few feet away, you stood in place, frozen, arms around yourself.
You watched Eggsy walk slowly towards you, arms stretched out. You met him halfway and walked straight into his open arms.
“I’m so sorry this happened, sweetheart,” you felt him kiss your hair. You just nodded.
You stayed like that for a while. Eggsy stroking your hair and kissing it from time to time, you listening to Harry and Merlin taking care of the... situation. You heard your captor shout in pain and Eggsy tightened his hold around you, starting to walk and lead you out of the store, making sure you didn’t look at the aftermath of everything.
You found yourself seated in Eggsy’s car. You looked to the driver’s seat to see him staring at you with concern.
“I’m alright,” you said softly, forcing a smile. “How about that dinner?”
He gave you a smile of his own, eyes sad. “C’mere,” he said, pulling down the cushion that connected the driver’s seat to the passenger seat. You silently thanked God above for automatic cars.
You slid closer to him, humming when you felt his arms around you again.
“You called me,” he said. “if you hadn’t, I—” Eggsy suddenly stopped talking. After a few moments of silence, you looked up at him.
His eyes watered up. “I don’t want to think about what would have happened.”
You sighed, sitting up to peck his lips then allowed yourself to lean on him again. “Yet you showed up anyway. You really do always save the world.”
You felt Eggsy’s chest shake with his silent laughter.
“Oh, God,” you moaned, palming your face suddenly.
“What?” Eggsy sat up slightly in worry.
“I didn’t get any shopping done today,” you whined.
“There’s no way I’m letting you go in there again,” Eggsy said darkly before kissing your forehead.
Requests for Eggsy are open. x
