This is the Gotham map I work with for my fic, Careful what you wish for. I’m not sure what comic it’s from, but it’s somewhere between 1992 and 2000 since Gordon is married to Sarah Essen.
So far, I’ve added one street of my own in central Gotham. Travis Street, where Jason and his mother lives, is named after the artist Travis G Moore. (In one of my earlier ”bat dialouges”, I also invented Giella Alley (after Joe Giella), Wolfman Street (Marv Wolfman) and Novick Street (Irv Novick.) At least two of them has already their names on the map, but not on streets, but what’s the point of a made-up map if you can’t name streets after your favourite comic creators? In fact, I could go on and name a lot of streets, if I only could find a use for them in the story…)
When it comes to the surroundings, I found this map; I don’t know if it’s official or fan-made, but I took some locations from it anyway.
Yesssss, I love both these maps, the first one bc I'm a big fan of Eliot R. Brown and the other since it helps me situate Gotham as a real place in the comics.
I also like this other close up image of that second map with a bit more quality to the names from the map.
And also this other map that I like bc it includes Bludhaven where it usually is located in the comics (or where I think it's usually located from what I've been able to gather).
the people yearn so much for more stantanly tim drake. i love you
i have no actual tim art but i made this when i was thinking about gender tim
I’ve been trying to draw the bats for a while bc they make me struggle but yk, it’s okaaaaaay

I'm learning Blender, and its the nicest program I've encountered since Procreate. I'm not even a 3D artist. But I think we all deserve to make use of this little tart of a program!

any advice for picking fun and vibrant colour palettes that still feel true/recognizable to an object/setting/character's base colours? something about intense lighting?
I've been asked about how I choose my colors by a lot of people and I finally sat down and made a whole ass youtube video about it!
thank you to the 1k subscribers I got from this!! unfortunately this was the only idea for a youtube video I had, and the first draft of the script for this was written three years ago and I only just got around to doing it. So needless to say I will probably not be entering my youtuber era.
But I’m glad this video was helpful!
The Milt Kahl Head Swaggle (Source: Cartoon Brew)
I love it when you can pick up an animator’s quirks.
I’ve read in old interviews with Milt Khal’s fellow animators that he did the swaggle to purposefully show off. Moving the head in 3-d space is an exceptionally hard thing to do but Khal upped the level of difficulty to a place many animators wouldn’t go. Not only are they all doing the swaggle you’ll notice they are all TALKING while they are doing it. This is back in the days where you had to use a timing sheet to pace your animation and a head swaggle doesn’t work if its too slow or too fast so he had to figure out the right speed so it looked natural while the character finishes what they have to say while not interfering with the distinct mouth shapes. Not only did Khal do it without any shifting weight problems or timing issues he would often do it while moving the rest of the body. This isn’t his signature move just because he was good at it.This is his signature move because he was one of the only people skilled enough to DO IT AT ALL.
Milt Khal was a MASTER.
God, I can’t express to you how fucking DELIGHTED I become whenever they Milt Khal Head Swaggle Post graces my dash with its presence again.
THE GREATEST JOKE ADVENTURE TIME HAS EVER WRITTEN
People like to make fun of animators but jokes on them…
WHY’D YALL LEAVE OUT THE BEST ONE?
