I don’t know how I got into all this, but it must have been sometime back in the early oughts because I remember drawing them before I was in high school. Hell, I even built a crude belt with chains and metal when I was 16 because there was nothing affordable online. I’ve been low key designing them ever since. (I wouldn’t mind starting a company to design and sell some.)
Also, at least one of the comics I have on the back-burner is the product of that interest:
