"Dionysus, what in the world are you doing?"
"Buzz off, Hades."
"New Years started it all."
"Nico wants him dead. Mel is heart broken. Ginger... she wants him. Now what do I do?"
"Don't let your sunshine grow dull. Fight. Fight like you're fighting for your other half, Zarina. New Years was only the beginning."
"The worthwhile fight."

Title: Eyes of An Angel
The room had the image of a sad man, as did the man who sat in the center of it with head hung down. The Ā black curtains draped over were slashed and cut, with holes made from metal bullets. Though their color was fading to a gloomy grey like the skies that day. It reeked of a bar, with alcohol filling the atmosphere and breathing air. It was hinted with the scent of cigar. The sight was horrid as clutters of mess covered the floors with unclean clothes, and stains of blood hardened to the floor. This was hell, but this was also a home. And Cosette was that angel within that hell.
āDaddy?ā Cosette said, barely a whisper.
Keegan Sterling buried his face within his greasy, dirt hands. Though he didnāt look up at his only daughter. The woman who conceived his Angel was the one he let slip through his fingers. So gorgeous. So stunning. So pure. But pure never did survive in a world such as his. The violence of the Chicago streets was no place for a goddess of her grace, as it wasnāt for his Little Angel. Though that didnāt stop her, because he didnāt intend to let her slip either.
Aphrodite escaped his grasp. She was free from the evil that lay underneath that skin that once touched her heart. Though he was a man of no word, but a maniac mind whose words were as sharp as Zeusā bolt. That day she ran, but Cosette could never run as long as he was alive. Even then his friends knew her, saw her, cared for her for the most part and made a promise to her father: āNever let my Little Angel go.ā
That day before those friends betrayed him, making a deal with a rival. A man with great power who always envied Keegan and Keegan to him. They wanted what the other had, but Keegan had nothing. Those years ever since he met Aphrodite everything became lost and out of reach. He had nothing to lose which was why the only thing he had he wasnāt going to let go. A man of evil mind, yet with a heart of gold that warmed up for his daughter after nearly killing her in her motherās womb.
āDaddy?ā Cosette whispered louder, creaking his bedroom door open.
āGo away, Angel.ā
Her neighbor that cared for her, taught her and fed her as a baby always told her to never bother her father at times like such. Grandma Harriet had always said, āCosette, you must not ever bother your father. He is capable of great, dangerous things. He might hurt you.ā
āHe wouldnāt do that. He loves me.ā
Cosette walked into his room, her footsteps creaking on the hard wooden floor. But she walked slowly and gracefully, holding her ragged doll close to her chest. Her heart was warm of love that could never be crumbled. Although she was not pure from the things she had seen, and even heard, she still believed in hope in every soul. Though that hope would sink someday sooner or later, and unfortunately destiny meant sooner.
Her small fragile fingers touched her fatherās arm in hope to give him comfort. Though Keegan didnāt move, grumbled a curse underneath his breath. He had lost all, and now he didnāt want to deal with his blood. So he told her in a louder voice, āCosette, go.ā
āDaddyā¦ā Cossette insisted. Her lips pursed as she climbed onto his bed next to him. āIām sorry. Those men were meanā¦ā She knew everything that had happened. Keegan had no time to bring her to the neighborās when they came but hid her in the closet of his room. There she stayed silent, hugging her dove that was barely recognizable anymore and stained of muck. It was her prized possession that no one could ever say different about. āIām proud of you though.ā
The men had left his side. Men he once called friends and are now traitors and enemies. He was pissed and a volcano ready to erupt. Cosette saw her father shoot one of them in the head when he found out and they tried to take him with them. Though he fought killing one of three men. The blood splattered and from where she sat right then she could still see it and smell it. But over the years she had grown used to it. She was pale as a ghost, hardly seeing day unless with Grandma. She didnāt went to school, so the old woman taught her how to read, write and everything anyone should know.
āCosette, please.ā
āHonestly. Pinky promise even, daddy. Mommy would be proud too.ā
āCosette, donāt.ā
āBut she would be! She would be proud how you raised me, protected me, and she would hate those men.ā
āDonāt talk of your mother.ā
āWhy notā¦? Itās true⦠Grandma said I have her eyes. Is it true?ā
āCosette.ā
āIs itā¦?ā
Then it came. All her questions sparked that eruption and there she was. A cold, hard smack across her face so hard it knocked her to the ground and her dove into the harden blood from the night before. The tears fell from her eyes, āD-Daddyā¦?ā She whimpered through the sobs.
Though he never said he was sorry or comforted. Instead he fell to his knees to her, grabbed her by her shoulder and shook her. He yelled and shouted at her, calling her names, saying she would never be like her mother. That her mother was a slut, trash, and was rotting in hell. āDonāt you ever talk about her! You hear that, Little Angel? Donāt you ever speak her name again! Forget her! She is nothing. She is gone and will never come back for you. Sheās gone.ā
Cosette nodded, tears blurring her eyes. She tried to crawl away to her dove, but no. He pulled her by her legs back and Cosette cried out. āStop! It hurts!ā Then Grandma entered, āCosette!ā
Keegan groaned, picking up Cosette by the back of her shirt and threw her to the bed. Cosette cried, shouting for her daddy not to hurt Grandma. Then it came. Keegan blamed Grandma for putting the thoughts into Cosetteās head about her mother. He took the old lady who didnāt cry. He pulled her by the white hair on her head and kicked her knees to buckle to the ground. The old woman said right before it came, āBe brave, Cosette.ā
Keegan took out the shotgun from his show, pulled the trigger and shot. There lay the old woman in a puddle of her own blood. Cosette saw it, smelt it, heard it. Then she heard the doorbell. Keegan only shouted, āWhat the fuck now?ā
āStay here,ā he shouted to Cosette to get the door. When he left, slamming the door behind him Cosette ran to Grandma. She cried, holding her in her small now blood stained arms. āIām sorry. Iām s-sorryā¦ā So she closed the old ladyās eyes. āRest in peace, Grandmaā¦ā
āGet out!ā Cosette heard her father shout.
That was when she peeked out the door and into the hallway. Keegan shouted a number of things, and kept doing so to the man who stood at their door. Cosette starred from around the corner. Her eyes met the manās warm brown ones. He was tall, built, and had brown shaggy hair. Though his face was welcoming, as he stayed calm talking to her father. Then he said, āCosette?ā
āWho are you?ā she muttered, wiping the tears from her face. But the blood wipes on her face and Hephaestus saw.
āIām a friend of your moth-ā
āGet out!ā Keegan shouted at the man. āDonāt you dare come back here or come near her!ā
Then he took out a gun, pointing it at his face. āGet out of my house.ā
Hephaestus saw the trauma in Cosetteās eyes from that night, and didnāt want more to be added. So he nodded, walking out. But Cosette was done even for such a young girl. So she ran into her room, grabbed her suitcase, put some clothes in it and climbed out the window. Out the window she then remembered her dove, and ran back to get it, sneaking passed her father. It was stained but she didnāt care, because Grandma gave it to her. Then she climbed down the fire escape when she heard her father yell her name. But she never did look back until she saw the man who said he knew her mother ahead.
āWait!ā Cosette cried, dragging her suitcase hearing it thump against the ground.
Hephaestus turned and saw Cosette, and so he took her with him. He took the Angel to Heaven⦠or Olympus in this case.

Title: The Switch
Skye didnāt know what had caused it at the start. Maybe it was their yells. Maybe it was the names. Or maybe it was the fact she was afraid. There were lots of factors that could have done it. That could have triggered it to return once again. But this was a return she wished she could have avoided, but from what it seemed, it was inevitable. All she knew was that the feeling was sickening. It was a feeling that she would never forget for as long as she lived. And right now she wished she was doing anything but breathing. So close. She was so close to be forever rid of the Switch, but here it was back again.
Why?
Why was right, but she very well knew the answer.
Up to the age of fifteen she had done everything she could to avoid it. She went past her limits, and those were limits that sent her with headaches and bloody noses. It was all about the control and concentration, something she only gained control a few years ago. So when she saw the cars and people around her floating in the air, she knew it was back.
Oneā¦
But the thought of hurting someone was what she feared the most. Before she could always make an excuse for the incident these Switches caused, but now it was different. The lights were bright, and the cameras were rolling on every single one of them. Now they had proof. That proof now was implanted in the memories and minds of thousands witnessing the memorial and riots. They now knew what was hidden behind the Institute gates.
She had never been good with memorials or funerals in the first place ever since she attended her own parentsā.
āMonster,ā one stated before he shouted it out. āMonsters!ā
āFreaks!ā yelled another. āAbominations!ā
They became clever with their word choices, some saying they should leave and get out. Some shouting they were the devils spawn. Stop⦠Please⦠Stopā¦
She took a step back, in shock of what she had did. Then she tried to run, but a large man blocked her. He pulled her by the shirt, and threw her to the ground. They had thought she was doing this on purpose, but she wasnāt. Another picked her and threw her at the same man. They yelled at her to put the people down, before she would become out of this world. The tears burst from her eyes and she pleaded, āStop!ā
Two...
It never ended, āIām sorry! Iām sorry!ā
But they didnāt listen. She could hear the cries of people in the air, as they fell to the ground. But before they could stand, the cars fell to the ground going off with alarms. Then they made loud thumps, eventually floating back into the air with the people. Unlike before they were floating around, moving from place to place. They cried out in fear and terror of what was occurring to them.
Then she snapped, āStop! Stop! Put me down!ā
But they didnāt stop, until she punched one straight at the jaw. Then she ran, hearing the crashes of cars hit the ground. Then she heard the pain of those people falling from midair onto the hard ground. But as she ran, she found herself surrounded by much more. She wanted to get away from them, away from the riots at the Institute. That was when she found herself where the cars had pulled up. One of the cars nearly had crashed into her, honking its horn as loud as can.
With electric blue eyes wide open, the car stopped and floated. The siren went off and she ran the other way back towards the Institute. There seemed to be millions of them, with cameras trying to catch sight of one of them doing something theyād regret. But she wasnāt doing this, or at least she didnāt mean to.
Then it happened.
One of the protestors tripped her till she hit the ground face first. She groaned at the pain, feeling the blood at her lip as she rolled over to meet eyes with them. They seemed like animals to her, ones that couldnāt be controlled and were more dangerous to society than the mutants were. The chants continued on, and on, never ending to the point a headache grew deep into her head. āStopā¦ā Skye mumbled, trying, but stumbling, to her feet. āPlease...stopā¦ā Maybe it was all in her head, for the memorial wasnāt as close and there werenāt as many protesters, but it felt like there were millions.
But they continued, went faster, and never stopped. Crowded in her head, Skye felt herself tense up and the tears strolling down her face. Without even having to think about it she kept pleading, in a whimpering voice, āStop.ā
But they never did.
āMonster.ā
Then it came: three.
Her eyes snapped shut, but she heard them. Heard those pestering protesters scream at the event. Many would hear them, but many could do nothing. Some who didnāt feel the effect would run, while others were left hopeless floating in midair. He yelled at her to put her down, but all she could do was nothing. The pain struck her, unsure what to do. She was left clueless and afraid, in fear of herself and what they would do if she somehow got them down. It didnāt help that they continued to yell, putting the pressure on her.
āStopā¦ā she repeated, unable to find any other word in the dictionary. Then she snapped, āStop!ā
The nearest people flew in the air, whipped around the breeze and felt flat to the ground. But their screams snapped her eyes open in realization what a drop like that could do. It would flatten them into dust. Right before she hit the ground, the gravity around them disappeared and once again they were floating and dropped gently to the ground.
āSkyeā¦ā she heard her trainor call her. She felt the trainor pull her away from the crowd and bring her inside to the Institute. But she ran. She ran to the point she locked herself in her room, with eyes swollen and red, and a tear stained face. With her back against the door, she tried to process it all, ignoring her trainors calls right out. It was switching on and off again, and the switch was back. She didnāt mean to send those people in the air, floating without gravity. And she didnāt mean to make her furniture float in midair right before her once again.
Head hang back, she slipped to the ground, pulled her legs to her chest, wrapping her arms around them. She just watched as the switch continued to glitch. One moment the furniture was in the air. The next it crushed to the ground. Then the crushed pieces floated. Then they fell to the ground. This went on for the next hour, a thump every time it fell.
