deadimitationâ:
â ⌠ITâS A NICE work out. â  he jokes in response to the knightâs musing, a hand rising to cover his widening smile. itâs not like itâs a lie anyways, swimming like a mermaid takes quite the abdominal strength, along with strength in the glutes and arms.
at the mention of talents, masa couldnât help but give a small sigh as well, though his rung with a bit of annoyance. sure he wasnât about to pick a fight, especially not when it was meant as a compliment, but sheesh⌠this knight couldâve picked a better choice of words. picking out a strand of deep pink hair, he twirls it between his fingers.
â ⌠i wouldnât call myself talented, but, thank you. â  he spoke gently. despite his annoyance, he still really just⌠didnât care. mamoru seemed nice after all, and people trip up all the time. and some just cling onto the idea of being talented or âbetterâ than people for some reason. thatâs simply how it is sometimes.  â ⌠but, iâd like to know⌠what you do, though. as a knight, i mean.  â
â....what I do?â He hesitates, like he always did when someone asked him. Itâs so strange, having to explain it. Both because heâs used to it being common knowledge but also used to no one particularly caring. He was around nobles and royalty more often than not - they knew what a knight was and what he did. As long as he stayed in line they didnât have a reason to even look at him. The knight looks away for a moment, gathering his thoughts before looking back at the other.
âI mostly act as his highness, Ambrose Trueheartâs, guard.â He said, confidently and clearly. If nothing else, that was what he was. âBut like other knights in the kingdom of Auodroven, I assist with guard duty, training and teaching squires, occasionally Iâll be asked to go to other cities outside of the capital to deliver messages or settle disputes. Overall, I simply do what the King asks of me.â Whatever that may be, he thinks to himself. That part is probably better left unsaid and simply implied.Â
