This isn’t a continuation of my rant from the other day really, but I was thinking about what if the brain scan theory wasn’t real. Here are my thoughts in a not too fleshed out idea for an alternate ending like that.
This would take place right after Caine was deleted and the circus was starting to become a mess. Let’s say this time it was because a lot of the circus was thought up by Caine himself, and now that he’s deleted PERMANENTLY (I love Caine but come on you gotta admit he was brought back because plot), so because of this certain parts of the circus are either highly distorted, or deleted entirely.
Now, let’s hypothetically say that the group found an exit. In that case, I feel like Jax would try and throw everyone under the bus again. With how his personality has been portrayed, I feel like he can be a bit of a wild card. And with some people getting too close, he may act on instinct like he did when he pushed his mother away, if you know what I mean.
This is the part that I have more fleshed out. Jax, or more Leeroy has finally left the circus, they returned to the real world, waking up as if the whole circus was just a weird dream. He doesn’t try to get anyone else out, as he’s unsure what would happen if he tried to from outside.
While months went by in the circus, it turns out in the real world it only lasted a day or two. I guess time goes by when you’re having fun, or in the real world’s case, time doesn’t.
When Leeroy finally gets home, he realizes what he left behind in the emptiness. He made the same mistake over and over again. He had people who cared about him, people who wanted to give him the push to be a better person. Every time he pushed them away, he only made things worse.
And that’s pretty much the end, something sour. Not all endings are good ones, after all. I feel like tadc could have benefited by leaving a more sour taste in the audience’s mouths instead of confirming the brain scan theory at the start of the episode. It’s an ending where nobody is happy, and Jax/Leeroy gets what he seemed to have wanted, solitude.
This is really just a rough concept though, I haven’t tried fleshing much more of it out yet as it’s just an idea.
