Not sure if this blog is still active, but i just finished TailChaser's song! Absolutely love it! And i've been making some ocs for the books but, what is your opinion of Tail names? And how do you think a Tail Name might be stuctured? I've been struggling on giving them to my characters

honestly, tail-names are an enigma! they're mentioned to exist, but only in the vaguest sense---cats go searching for their tail-names, but they never share them, and it's ultimately unknown how one goes about finding theirs, or how they're structured. canonically, so few cats ever find their tail-names due to how elusive they are. it's why Fritti was Named Tailchaser: chasing dreams and fantasies since he was a young kitten.
if you want to give your characters their tail-names, i suggest getting creative with it! face-names are [prefix][suffix] structured (two words put together), while heart-names are based on how cats speak, with Higher Singing words. maybe tail-names are from an ancient language all their own, originating from the Elder Days? or they're not really words at all, and are more of a feeling in a cat's ka (spirit)? it's ultimately up to you to decide!
at the end of the book with Frittis epiphany do you think he found where his heart truly lays or the answer to mother Rebums confusing questions or maybe a combination of the both?
he found, in an unlikely place such as Villa-on-Mar as Eyeshimmer and Firefoot foretold, where his heart truly lays: not with Hushpad, but the wild, and freedom to go wherever he desired.
Rebum was simply telling him that he was mortal and small in the grand scheme of things, and I think finally understanding that freed him, too. so yes, I think it was a combination of both!

Tailchaser's Song by Tad Williams has always been one of my favorite books. Highly recommend if you like Warriors but feel too old for Warriors.
