❇  Something just exploded

The explosion was loud enough to shake the ground and even cause a flurry of birds to evacuate the trees. For the briefest of moments, the sky was black with a wave of feathers. Fleeing from the vibration with a similar speed to the mammals on the ground before them. Ardyn stood with an expression akin to that of a Cactuar. His mouth hung agape and his eyes wide with a shock. 

Four fingers were held before his mouth and his other hand wide and sudden at his side. Despite his apparent surprise, his reaction appeared terribly fake. As pretend as the sweetness of a Tonberry - Ardyn was a chancellor outwardly and an actor very much so as well. 

“Oh my!~” His voice hummed alongside the shaking ground; his daunted expression turning to Prompto with an obscure eagerness “did you feel that, as well?” His answer would be clear - the bang had, after all, been as brutal as the stamping of an Adamantoise’s feet. 

"When aren't I in some sort of tangle?" 

Ifrit looked as he always did. Handsome, rugged. The same fiery spirit that the chancellor always found himself incapable of denying. Ardyn’s eyes smile at him as much as his lips do. 

His hands entwine around the devil's waist, savouring every feeling his warm body has to offer. As tragic as their persistent distance from one another may have felt - their reunion always bought a very real smile across his features.

"You aim precisely where it hurts, don't you" edging steps further close the distance between them; oh she were a tease "Shiva."

The preciousness of her features are justified by his now intimate, lingering eyes. As if she were a porcelain doll, Shiva had done well to make her human facade spectacular. Somewhat ashamedly for the chancellor, hers was much better than his.

"Anything but dark, my sweet" for a man yet touched by alcohol's swaying hand; he's terribly flirtatious. 

A salacious grin partners the half-lidded eyes of Ardyn’s interested expression. Whether this be a mere binge betwixt friends or something more, the chancellor was excited to get started. Should he even have to bare the horror of a romantic-comedy on the television screen before them; he was certain it'd be worth it.

Chocolates and booze ; what more could a man ask for on Valentines day?

“Something strong, preferably.”

His words were a throw-away though his expression remained undoubtedly stern. The fact-of-the-matter was that Ardyn had met his death whilst away. He’d seen the face of the Grim Reaper and that face was Noctis Lucis Caelum. The young king; the false king. 

Knuckles fold to bed his nails harshly into his palms ; despite the fabric of gloves, he’s able to leave a mark. A whirlwind of emotions did well to taunt him. Finally; he’d have what he wanted but at what price? 

A muffled scream neath a web of material was hardly the conversation the chancellor craved and with such a thought, he pulls free the kid’s tongue of the gag. 

The boy appeared somewhat endearing ; a young adventurer, possible chip on his shoulder and a certain penchant for chocobos. Whomever the lad was, he inspired a loose grin from Ardyn. That and a wrinkle to the corner of his eye; the sort a man gets from a genuine smile.

Why did his eyes fight through the darkness toward Ardyn? What could he see that left his expression so vague? Kefka wasn't sleeping...or was he? Ardyn truly couldn't tell.

Although the mages' eyes were pried and unmoving, his expression showed some degree of awareness. It was as if his gaze stared through the chancellor and straight toward the unknown. Even plagued, he was beautiful. Reddish marks of make-up had made way for his bare, pale skin. Ardyn enjoyed the garishness of his paint-work but he enjoyed his flesh oh-so more.

Rather than speculate the reason behind his tormented features, Ardyn nudges him awake. A hand wraps fingers around his shoulder to pull him in close; the mage is small enough to fit just short and curled between Ardyn's knees and his neck. He lavishes the quilt over the pair, tucking it snugly into Kefka's neck before enveloping him entirely with his arm.
