#zunru

Tamers in the country of Korone can choose one of six Zunru to begin their journey. Zunru journeys are often taken between the ages of twelve and sixteen. They are a rite of passage, and this first Zunru is there for it all.

Spintail is a reptilian Zunru with a childlike personality. The doglike Anuppy loyally protects its Tamer to its last breath. Pelash is a prideful bird Zunru with electric attacks. The aquatic Snakark packs a powerful bite. The beetle-like Cooto's shiny shell creates dazzling light displays. Chomprey's plant-like head bites down when anything draws too close. All six have their strengths and weaknesses- and plenty of reason for new Tamers to chose them.

Tamers often get close to their starter. There are rumors that this powerful bond results in human-Zunru hybrids- beings made from both species with incredible powers. They are called fusions, and they ć̸̦ā̶̝n̶̫͆ ̷͕͛u̷̬̇n̴͔͌d̸̗̈́è̷̱r̴̲͒s̸̲͗t̵̡̀a̸̬̓ǹ̸̰d̵͚̒ ̴̢͗t̴̰͆h̷͚͝e̷͔̓ ̸͎͝w̴͓͑ơ̵̖r̷̪̕d̸̺̂s̶̬̃ ̶̛͓o̵͆ͅf̵̠͛ ̴̖͘Z̶̞͋u̸͚̿n̵͉̄r̴̘̂ũ̶̫ ̸͕̄ț̸̀h̴̺͗e̷͎̅ŷ̷̹ ̶͍͐c̶͛͜a̶̬̋n̵̼̈́ ̴̻͒t̷͉͘a̶͕̋l̶̦͘k̶̢̊ ̸̱̔t̸͚́h̷̊͜ẻ̶͈y̵̧͗ ̴̘̾a̶̾ͅr̷͓͋ë̷̼ ̶̝́l̴͍̃ḯ̴̘k̵̼̀e̴̪̕ ̷̬́u̶̳̚s̵͚̚. Remember to use a Zu You Co. (TM)- issued Zunru Band to store your Zunru when not using them in battle.

Like for example-

This is not a Bubbagrundo. This is a Liacoon. I know this by the design. From this image, I can draw up all of the character's stats. No different than any Pokemon, really- you attach the name to an image and the image to a bunch of stats like elemental type (this one is a Shadow element).

These are Bubbagrundos. I have no fucking idea what these are despite creating them myself because there are no images of them. I keep seeing this and going "oh who the fuck- oh, those earth element bug guys. Which earth element bug guys? I am in hell."

I think the difference between a Bubbagrundo and a finished character is usually the lack of image. Even if the thing has basic stats, it can remain a Bubbagrundo if there's no picture to attach the stats to.

This is a very interesting experiment in how mon games in general work. Pikachu, for example, would be a much less charming character if we only had a list of things like Mouse Pokemon, Electric-type, and so on. It's the yellow color, round shape (especially back in the day), and lightning bolt tail that really makes the character memorable. Otherwise, he'd be...well, a Bubbagrundo.

A couple of little Jackie sprites since I haven't posted this boyo in a long while. I reworked them from sprites of a character who looks similar, who started with a skeleton based on Digimon Medley. He went from Wonderswan to GBC to GBA basically.

Jackie has a full set of walk sprites and can also sit, kneel, raise both arms, and pass out (amongst many other small things). But I have a soft spot for his sassy little arm crossing. That one also has an animation where his foot taps.

So as I draft up the ending, Jackie- the MC- has a chance to move into the captain's quarters. Instead, he digs in the fukkin' grunt rooms below the deck. Which means guess who's sleeping in the captain's quarters?

Characters are staying in an abandoned, rotting sea shack for a few chapters.

The shack has no door due to age and abandonment

Characters run through the doorway, shout through it, etc.

There is very clearly no fucking door there

The initial description of the cabin from 3-4 chapters back does not mention there is no door
