Tamers in the country of Korone can choose one of six Zunru to begin their journey. Zunru journeys are often taken between the ages of twelve and sixteen. They are a rite of passage, and this first Zunru is there for it all.
Spintail is a reptilian Zunru with a childlike personality. The doglike Anuppy loyally protects its Tamer to its last breath. Pelash is a prideful bird Zunru with electric attacks. The aquatic Snakark packs a powerful bite. The beetle-like Cooto's shiny shell creates dazzling light displays. Chomprey's plant-like head bites down when anything draws too close. All six have their strengths and weaknesses- and plenty of reason for new Tamers to chose them.
Tamers often get close to their starter. There are rumors that this powerful bond results in human-Zunru hybrids- beings made from both species with incredible powers. They are called fusions, and they ć̸̦ā̶̝n̶̫͆ ̷͕͛u̷̬̇n̴͔͌d̸̗̈́è̷̱r̴̲͒s̸̲͗t̵̡̀a̸̬̓ǹ̸̰d̵͚̒ ̴̢͗t̴̰͆h̷͚͝e̷͔̓ ̸͎͝w̴͓͑ơ̵̖r̷̪̕d̸̺̂s̶̬̃ ̶̛͓o̵͆ͅf̵̠͛ ̴̖͘Z̶̞͋u̸͚̿n̵͉̄r̴̘̂ũ̶̫ ̸͕̄ț̸̀h̴̺͗e̷͎̅ŷ̷̹ ̶͍͐c̶͛͜a̶̬̋n̵̼̈́ ̴̻͒t̷͉͘a̶͕̋l̶̦͘k̶̢̊ ̸̱̔t̸͚́h̷̊͜ẻ̶͈y̵̧͗ ̴̘̾a̶̾ͅr̷͓͋ë̷̼ ̶̝́l̴͍̃ḯ̴̘k̵̼̀e̴̪̕ ̷̬́u̶̳̚s̵͚̚. I'm on my monster collector bullshit again, so here's an image of some sprites with an old background. Zunru is a project I've had since 2020, and I merged it into my other monster project Singularity to create a Pokemon/Digimon hybrid thing with two unique worlds. If you saw my OCs Jackie or Tomoya around- this is their project. Zunru is specifically the Jackie half.
So human-monster fusion is possible, but only with specific mons who develop a close bond with a human companion. Out of these- Jackie can fuse with Spintail to become a dragon boy. There's plenty of other fusions in the game, and all six of these make a guest appearance as part of someone's alternate form. This has the side effect of allowing the human to understand mons- which Zu You Co. isn't a fan of. Needless to say, they're one of the game's antagonists.
I want to eventually make a game of this, but it'll take learning An Entire Coding Language so don't expect anything soon (maybe years lol). RPG Maker just can't hack something of this scale. For now I'm just making sprite art for funsies. And teaching myself how to make thrilling mini-titles like Walking Simulator, Don't Fall Through the Floor, Trees are Solid Objects, and maybe Flappy Bird.
Uhhh have shinies. Spintail is a Charmander reference, Anuppy is Kaiba-themed, and the others are just colors I thought were nice.

Human-Zunru fusions are rare, but incredibly deadly. Humans with the capacity to fuse believe they can hear the voices of Zunru. This psychosis develops the instant the power is obtained. However, little is known about what triggers fusion. The base ingredient is a close bond with a specific Zunru. Other neurological factors make fusion more likely. Studies focusing on these factors reveal a common thread of anti-social behavior. (Zu You Co, Permafrost Facility)
This is Scorch- a fusion between Jackie (the human) and Fireball (the Zunru/Spintail). Hopefully I don't have to draw them again because they're complicated (I will).
Anyway, Scorch's world is a wonderful place to live if you're neuro-divergent with no ableism at all. :) And they never lie ever. :) It's not like Zunru are as intelligent as human beings and Zu You Co wants to cover that up. :) No way no how. :)))))

Scorch takes elements from the final form of Spintail- Dracosaur. These Zunru are capable of flight. It takes Scorch some time to figure it out, though. Their wings act like rubber props until they get them under control.
I added some rips to the edge of their wings and changed the shape a bit. Plus gave them more melanin as I did to Jackie. I was trying to do a more dynamic pose as the sprite version of this appears when the player of my maybe one day game activates fusion, and I wanted it to look impressive. Not sure if I succeeded or died (again).
Scorch uses they/them pronouns because they are a collective of two individuals. Similar to any other fusion. Their components are not nonbinary (both use he/him pronouns when separated). There is a nonbinary character in this project (and I should add more), but Scorch is just two dudes.
Also fun fact- if the fusion components are different sexes, they become intersex when fused. Thinking about playing with that more with a different fusion.

Anyway, I decided to glue Zunru and Singularity into one project. They'll probably have a new name, but I'm using "Concept Unification" as a temporary name until I shake out all the dust yes this is a reference to Chuck E Cheese. Apparently I can't combine Pokemon and Digimon in a satisfactory way so I'm using my OCs. This also means my OCs Jackie and Tomoya (who I haven't posted much lately) will share a universe going forward.
I wanna post more art of this universe but I have edges to sand off. For now, have the clear art of the sprites of Spintail and Merazaru below, along with shinies and some factoids. These are game assets so for the love of Arceus and Ygdrassil don't use them!

Spintail is a Zunru species. One of six starter Zunru given to new Tamers. They have a child-like and friendly personality. When excited, they bite, so be careful! Though they have sharp teeth, they're known to eat anything. They defend themselves with fireball attacks. Jackie's best friend is a Spintail named Fireball, with whom he can fuse to become something more than the sum of its parts...
Merazaru is a Datazar species. They were the first Datazar discovered by humans. Their species dates back to the origins of their world- the Kernel. The mane on their back stores heat, powering up their fireball attacks. Merazaru doesn't like when it gets cold, so be sure to keep them warm. A Merazaru is Tomoya's friend. By naming him "Rex", Tomoya created a bond that cannot be broken.
I have devised four monster systems. I try to keep the monsters in unique styles, so there is no confusing them whatsoever. I totally don't repeat things at all so each monster is unique! :)
Anyway, here are Embersaur, Merazaru, Spintail, and Reptyke. The Spintail is painted (shiny) for emphasis. He's normally green! Green Spintail in the readmore.
