adhd time blindness strikes again (thought i still had time to go see project hail mary in imax again but apparently it went out of imax weeks ago, then came back for a week, and is already gone again)
grace's moment in the petrova line is so so good because it underscores a crucial aspect of the story: there are no bad guys. they could so easily make astrophage the bad guy: give it a minor leitmotif, make all the moments it appears tense and fearful. but instead they make it beautiful. the most profound, awe-filled moment of the film is him basking in astrophage. multiple characters in the book point out how, if not for the whole killing-the-sun thing, astrophage's energy-storage potential would make it the most incredible discovery in humanity's history. astrophage isn't evil, it's just life, doing what all life does.
realized another thing i love about the project hail mary score: the choral vocals are wordless but they’re not just sung on an “oo”—there’s a little bit of vowel distinction, the hint of consonants. just enough that your brain recognizes it as language and tries to make sense of it. so the experience of hearing it is one of straining so hard to make out the meaning in something that you can’t understand but you’re sure is intelligent communication
me: *is in a terrible mood all day bc i stayed up til 3 am crying about something stupid (and then til 4 am worrying about my dog who started hacking up a lung)*
me: early bedtime tonight! i can’t wait to go to bed
also me: *does not go to bed*

lowkey jealous of people who have a fandom Thing. i write once in a while but no one would call me A Writer. i make art sometimes but im not An Artist. i don’t stick with anything long enough, or consistently enough, for it to be my Thing that i do or that people know me for so im just kinda. here. chilling
me: hmmm i have 20 minutes before im supposed to be working. should i go for a run and get the benefits of exercise but be a little late, or skip the run but start work on time and less frazzled
also me: have you considered. that you could Not Exercise and also still be late
