This was such a cool collab with FxghterPilot on deviantart, I did the sketch and the background and she did the flatcolors of the characters and their shadding!
More story bits sorry
“Are you ready?” Megara asked to her mare as she clipped in the breastplate of her new saddle. “Do you like it? Darling I don’t know if white is your color…” She had ordered a brand new tack set for this competition, a fully white one with pink details that she was just now realizing as they were getting ready did not suit Deli all that well. She ran her hand over the roached crest of the neck of the mare all the way up till she grabbed her ears in a playful way, Deli snorted and shook her head. “I knowww…. such a hard life that you have, huh? Neither you or me are on our sauce today, girly” She sighed, her back leaning against the wall of the stable. She wasn’t one to get….. nervous before competitions, but this one, it was starting to feel very real, it was different. Their Pas De Deux was something more than a regular dressage test, it was a statement, about…. their relationship? It was scary, in a way, like she was losing herself a little bit to the relationship with the Bennet guy. She was wearing a whole soft and sparkly pink dress with a flower in her head, what the hell-
If you had told her a few months back. It felt weird, and scary. She pulled the sleeves of her dress. She wasn’t one to invest that much on relationships, what was she doing? Did she actually like this one? The nerves were making a knot on her guts, and the mare must have noticed as she leaned her whole head against the body of Megara, the woman wrapped her arms around her muzzle and planted a little kiss between her ears.
“Oh Deli, what are we gonna do?” She mumbled, to which the mare responded with a deep sigh.
They stood like that for a whole minute till the woman felt like she had the strength to go find her bridle, also brand new, and finish tacking up. She clipped in her brand new Sha-dez, also in fitting shades of pink and white to fit with their whole outfit.
She walked out, and Deli right after her without a need to touch the reins, that mare would go to the end of the world for her, and Megara knew that. Sometimes to a fault. And they found the boys outside already, Killion giving Thomas a leg up to mount on the massive Tonka, she smiled, still hidden in the shadows of the inside of the stables, they were bathed in the golden sunlight of the last hours of light of the day.
Thomas seemed to straighten his clothes, check every piece of his outfit was in pristine condition and in the right position in his body. He seemed to be tinkering with the hat, trying to hide as much as he could of his newly pink dyed hair under it as he could without it looking bulky and unstable. For a moment there, Megara thought he might feel the same way she did. Was he scared of this relationship that was growing between them? Was he scared of losing himself, giving too much? Losing sight of his path? In favor of someone else's. It seemed like Killion was about to say something to him, when he made eye contact with Meg in the shadows, interrupting himself and raising a hand to say hi to her. Thomas turned his head as well to watch her walk up, suddenly in the spotlight, and so completely out of her element for once. The dress was slightly dragging behind her, and covered too much skin, she could barely feel the sun baking on her skin. “Well can I get a leg up too?” She demanded with her usual teasing tone. “Are you ready?”
She glanced towards Thomas, who almost immediately looked away as if he was doing something bad- letting his eyes linger on her body, seeing her with a dress in this style was… odd. At best. She knew that. She wondered if he even liked that.
