I needed to make this for a conversation i’m having so i’ll share it here too. Enjoy!

I miss these two, not gonna lie

Zimmerfield has been doing this whole “missing persons” thing for a long, long time. He started in organized crime and was good at it - he can track patterns and spot connections from a mile away - but was offered a promotion back when he was in his 40s, and he went into missing persons. He’s good at that, too - he likes how he can focus on one person and follow their trail like a bloodhound, connect clues and find common threads and bring someone home.  He has a terrible relationship with his family - when he tracks someone down who doesn’t want to be found, he can understand that.  Estevez loves his family - he has siblings galore and visits his family every week for dinner, and it took him a while to learn that some families don’t deserve the love of their children, of their parents. He makes friends in domestic violence agencies, and connects runaways with the help they need.  He’s always wanted to be in missing persons - he saw it as an option back in police academy, and focused on it from the start. He loves that he gets to tie up loose threads. It’s the best when he can bring someone home, of course, but also appreciates when he has answers for lost and liminal families, can give them permission to start grieving.  When they meet, ZImmerfield is ready to dislike Estevez. His previous partner had to be forcibly retired, she was old and feisty and kept him on his toes, and this young guy doesn’t look like he’s going to ring any bells. But they vibe. They vibe scary quick. The eyebrows bit? The back and forth? They barely have to practice that. They just click. (Also, someone finds an extra time machine and saves both of them. They need a shit ton of trauma therapy, but they get their jobs back and keep being great, and know who to reach out to when a case is just bafflingly weird.)
