Check out some footage from our social experiment / art performance, One-(An)Other, in which we invited strangers to share a minute and connect with each other. Our aim was to give people a chance at a personal encounter without prejudice regardless of cultural backgrounds or language barriers.

ZEROPHOBIA: THE FIRST EIGHT WEEKS Please check out our animated slideshow of some of the best photos taken at Zerophobia's various events and programs during the course of the fall semester of 2016. The selection sums up the most exhilarating moments of our semester-long awareness raising campaign against xenophobia and violent extremism, testifying to the stellar job our team members have done towards organizing so many great events in a period of merely eight weeks. At the end of our first semester, we would like to thank everyone who was kind enough to lend their support to our project in ANY way, which may vary from active participation and contribution to providing moral support through expressing sympathy with our cause. Our visit to Medgyessy Ferenc High School in Debrecen was Zerophobia's last education workshop this semester. We owe a great thanks to our friend, Chuks Obinna for being our regular accompaniment on these visits. His personal account of experiencing prejudice, yet never giving up hope in people’s decency captivated the students’ attention. They were responsive and shared their views and thoughts on what solidarity, equality or diversity meant to them. Please check out our photos of the event for more details.

“My arrival to Hungary was accompanied with both, joy and fear, while I was ecstatic to open up a whole new chapter of my life as a university student, I could not help but feel a little anxious at the same time. Once it was settled that I’d be attending the University of Debrecen, I did what I thought was most rational and turned to the internet to get to know the country where I’d be spending the next three and a half years of my life. To say the least, I felt the most uncertain I ever had after those 10 to 15 minutes I’d spent on the web trying to get to know Hungary. Honestly, I’d be lying if I said that I’d never received stares or have passers-by mumble something under their breath walking past me. However, these are definitely not the memories I’ll take back home with me instead, the time that my taxi driver had bought mineral water for me after I’d purchased the carbonated one; or the time when an old lady actually walked out of her way to tell a friend to dress warmer for the winter; the kind Hungarian lady who let me play with her toddler whilst we waited for the tram and the time that my landlady pulled me into a hug when I understood what she tried to tell me in Hungarian. Even though these events seem very insignificant, each one of them has helped me over look all the unpleasant experiences and enjoy my time here.”
