it was a rare morning that steve wasn’t jogging, punching a bag, or drawing at one of the local cafe’s where he’d learned to hide in a corner for a few quiet hours. people watching was one of the most insightful things he’d started doing since coming back from the ice. it showed him what people worried about, the underlying problems that had developed in the country he loved, and even a few odds and ends such as movies to watch or songs to check out. some of those problems he’d tried to tackle. others would take a little more finesse.
walking down the street with a black coffee in hand, steve had heard a commotion. it was desperate enough that he’d dropped his drink in order to run to it. although, in retrospect, he could’ve simply set it down in the hopes that he could come back to it after the fact. preserving his caffeine wasn’t always at the forefront of his mind, though.
the officers were finally starting to dissipate after steve managed to help break up....whatever it as he’d just broken up. honestly, he was still trying to wrap his head around it. “ not a problem, ma’am, “ the soldier inclines his head. hands lift up and land on his hips, thanking a several people as they walked by. there had been several times he’d found himself in a similar situation because he’d gotten a little overzealous over one issue or another.
“ steve rogers, “ one hand extends. it’s paired with a tired smile and a slight tilt to his head. she seemed to hold herself in a familiar way. almost reminded him of peggy. “ is there somewhere i can walk you to? “
