World Trigger S2  recap part 2/5

I really, really tried to make this a full-length fic, but Miwa is SO difficult to write for as a lee, so this was all I could feasibly manage. I still think it turned out relatively okay, so I hope you enjoy it despite it being shorter. <3

Note: This drabble is longer than my normal coffee shots, which is why it has a title. It's roughly 600 words.

“Whoa!” Yoneya yelped as he ducked under Miwa’s right hook, then staggered back to avoid a kick to his ribs. “You can’t fight me; I’m a fellow Border agent!”

“This is self-defense,” Miwa argued, feinting another kick before turning on his heel and sprinting away in the opposite direction.

Yoneya scrambled to his feet, chasing after him with a smirk. “This only makes you look guilty, you know!”

“I am not!”

Yoneya chuckled as he chased after his squad captain, bound and determined to get the upper hand in this particular battle. There was a reason Miwa was the leader of their team; he was incredible in combat and nearly impossible to take down one-on-one. But Yoneya had a greater purpose that needed to be served, and dang it, Miwa would give in one way or another.

“You’ll wear yourself out eventually!” he called to his friend’s back.

“Back off!”

Miwa rounded a corner and immediately tripped over a broken gutter jutting out from one of the buildings in the restricted zone. He tumbled forward, then pulled his gun and swung it around to aim, but Yoneya was startlingly fast and had already caught up to him, wrenching the weapon away from his face.

“You can’t shoot me either, boss,” the spear-wielding agent declared, pinning Miwa’s firing arm with his knee while shoving the other above his head, wrestling with him for a few moments before finally being able to get to his intended destination.

Miwa cursed, clenching his teeth, fighting a wobbly grin as he deactivated his gun and tried to summon a different kind of weapon to fight back with. Green bullets appeared in the sky for a split second, but Yoneya thought quickly and shielded himself while digging deeper into his captain’s exposed underarm.

“Stop! G-Get off – Yoneheheya, stop!” Miwa growled, full-on smiling now. He still fought to keep his giggles at bay, though. “I’ll demohohote you!”

“You don’t have that authority. I guess you could kick me off the team if you really wanted to, but come on – I’m just trying to help and you know it.” Yoneya smiled endearingly and playfully at his friend, determined to hear him laugh at least for a moment. “Come on. Just one little giggle?”

“No! Shut up! Stop – stop it!” Miwa frantically switched between triggers – Asteroid, Kogetsu, his gun once again – but between trying to shove his teammate away and resisting the urge to laugh even though it tickled so bad, he couldn’t put up much of a real fight at this point, much as he hated to admit it. He knew Yoneya wouldn’t let up until he got what he wanted, either, but he’d be darned if he let him have his way. “Yoneya! You idiot! You jerk! Get off – get ohohohoff!”

Yoneya beamed. “You’re so close! Just a little more!”

Miwa bucked when his teammate tweaked a particularly sensitive bundle, a single bark of laughter slipping out beyond his control. He twisted his face to the side and cackle-growled, “Stohohop! Get off, get off, get off!”

“Okay, okay,” Yoneya finally relented, chuckling as he released his captain from his tickly hold.

Miwa shot up and shoved his gun underneath Yoneya’s chin. “If you ever do that again—”

“You’ll force me to bail out and then kick me off the team. I know, I know.” Yoneya held up his hands in surrender. “Nothing wrong with smiling now and then, though.”

“I’ll kill you if you tell anyone about this—”
