Refuge
The second time Wei Wuxian entered Lan Wangji’s life was just as unexpected as the first, but rather than a peaceful, moonlit night, it was pouring rain and lightning split the sky. Lan Wangji had just gotten A-Yuan settled—it had taken an extra story and an extra lullaby before he fell asleep— and sat down with a cup of tea and a book when a loud knock sounded at his door.
Lan Wangji was tempted to ignore it, but anyone coming out in this sort of weather must have a good reason, so he marked his place and made his way to the door.
A wet, bedraggled creature in black practically tumbled through the doorway, leaving puddles of dirty water in Lan Wangji’s recently mopped entryway.
The creature threw back its hood to reveal itself.
“Wei Ying?” Lan Wangji asked, incredulous.
“I didn’t know where else to go,” Wei Wuxian said as he crumpled to the floor.
