It’s painfully clear to others who follow his wisteria-colored gaze, always lingering on you. He follows your every move as though he doesn’t realize he’s staring. Mitsunari just finds you so… enthralling. 

(He never caught you looking back at him.)

His inability to put his finger on this feeling at its early stages makes him mildly frustrated. In an attempt to quell this vexation, Mitsunari does more of the things he is familiar with—work. The best part is that he doesn’t register his late nights and fatigue, it’s just him, the lantern light, and click-clacks coming from his abacus.

(And during these times you have to visit him more often to take care of him, as your job specifically demands, though he doesn’t realize that you’re doing it out of worry rather than duty.)

It immediately becomes a game of keeping secrets when he has an inkling of what his true feelings are. Mornings are especially hard, what with you coming to his room to wake him up and serve him breakfast—he just hopes he doesn’t pull you against him to murmur out a half-sleep-ridden love confession. A lot of his dreams are about that, and there’s just no guarantee he won’t accidentally act it out.

(He doesn’t know you secretly like it when he cuddles you in the morning.)

And then he slowly suffocates himself in insecurity, comparing himself with each and every one of his peers who are, undoubtedly, a little bit in love with you. He doesn’t have Nobunaga’s charisma, Hideyoshi’s charm, Ieyasu’s vast knowledge, Masamune’s flexibility, Mitsuhide’s perceptiveness… He goes on and on, shrinking himself into a tiny ball in the corner of his mind, thinking that perhaps you deserve someone that is better than him by leaps and bounds, thinking that he shouldn’t be with you.

(He’s never heard the way you gush about him—without revealing who he is—to Sasuke each time the ninja decides to pay you a visit.)

Mitsunari will notice signs, but he’ll brush them off as a product of his overactive, pining imagination. At least that’s what he thinks when the sun is out. At night, however, he finds himself unable to sleep if he tries to, because of the questions ringing in his head, ponderings about the possibility of you returning his feelings.

As for the general audience, I’m always taking ko-fi requests! And I mean always as an indefinite time - Illustrating is my only job and source of income, and meds and food for my kittens are a monthly necessity, so there’s that. Also I won’t lie, but it’s always nice for this depressive self to have a real and nice meal once in a while xD

Regarding commissions, I probably will be taking just one at the time, given my tight schedule with art school, anxiety issues and whatnot - and that’s not to say the amount of time it takes me to come up with something acceptable to both my standards and the client’s.

hmmm ……. pirate history books i believe…? if i had to pick a certain genre, it’d be sci-fi / mystery / drama / fantasy. the lunar chronicles is my favourite series to date.
