Piers, Piers, Piers... his choice in Pokemon always confused Gordie. Did he just pick up any Pokemon that needed help? Did he take little reccomendations from friends and look particularly for a Pokemon like that? In his bid to outdo the reigning Champion, surely there must be method to it all?

It’s not even a small peck - everytime Guzma egged him on (which, let’s be real, put him at fault for not learning his lesson the first time) the Yell goes all in, tongue and all, aggressively enough to make the Skull leader hesitate, at first.

Cyrus and Lusamine are villains that deserved so much better than what they got from the writing
Like, Lusamine is an amazing antagonist in SuMo and her parallels to a Pokémon player FUCKING HIT, pacing issues aside I’d consider her one of the best villains in the series
🤡🤡🤡🤡 Then her roles in USUM and the anime consisted of being completely defanged because women can’t be competent antagonists on their own right 🤡🤡🤡🤡
let’s be honest here the reason why lusamine got nerfed so hard in every appearance post-sumo was because female characters that actually do things rather than just standing there and being waifubait are considered much less marketable which is why for example all the girls in danganronpa 2 and v3 have the personality of a cardboard cutout and the few that actually do stuff (mahiru, kaede, angie and tsumugi) are HATED by the fandom
I totally think that a Lusamine redemption arc can be done right, but the way it’s been done so far is honestly pathetic and takes away most if not all of what makes her such a good character
As for Cyrus, I kinda feel like he’s the main antagonist that gets the least attention from the writers other than Archer lol, which is weird because not only did he begin the trend of making Pokémon villains actually dangerous, but he’s also by far the most competent, since aside from pissing off Giratina he was literally about to win
I already talked before about how the attempts to flesh out his backstory in DPPt were really weak and mostly relied on the parental abuse trope which has been done SO MANY TIMES and in more inventive ways, but there’s also the fact that the writers seem to forget his actual personality traits and backstory when they do remember him
Like, in the Rainbow Rocket event he gets a whole connection to Rotom and references the Old Chateau even though that was Charon’s backstory, and in Generations he’s suddenly okay with being yoinked to the Distortion World because there’s no Spirit(tm) there even though Platinum makes it clear that he hates being in there because he has no control over it
