Favourite Webtoons Part 1
Recently Iâve gotten really into Webtoon and all the different comics there are on there, and I thought I would make a list of all my favourites. These are only the ones Iâm reading and obsessed with currently but Iâm sure there will be many more in the future that become obsessed with too. But for now, here they are in no particular order, and I tried not to put spoilers in there but I suck at non-spoilery things.Â
Cuckoos Three by Cassandra Jean & Mosskat
This is an adorable story about two guys falling in love (although weâre not at that part yet) after one of the characters, Jacob, moves to the country from the city and meets his neighbour Murry. Iâve been following this story since the first time Cassandra Jean mentioned making it here on Tumblr and even though itâs been full of multiple starts and restarts, I am so happy that it seems to be continuing officially on Webtoons (and on Cassandra Jeanâs patreon). It is just a super heartwarming story that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside.
Lore Olympus by Rachel Smythe
This is like the number one story on Webtoon and for good reason. I love this story so much! Itâs a Hades and Persephone retelling in a modern Olympus (although an ancient human Greece) that is full of adorable moments. It is so well done and the art is spectacular and the story covers lots of emotional topics. Iâm also super excited that itâs coming out as a physical graphic novel soon as well, so if anyone is interested in starting it, but likes to read physical books, Iâm pretty sure itâs the first 25 episodes that come out in the first volume October 5th. For sure worth the read and deserving of the hype.Â
SubZero by Junepurrr
This is the next story that I became obsessed with and even though Junepurrrâs on a hiatus to get ready for season 2 right now, it is worth it to read the whole first season. Itâs about two enemy rulersâ who can turn into dragonsâ being forced to marry to stop the war between their two kingdoms. It is a romance and has the whole arranged marriage trope and a love triangle situation, so if your into that then youâll love this. But also if you just love dragons and fantasy stories that have royals, which I love, then you should also check this out because I loved reading it and the art is gorgeous!
Midnight Poppy Land by Lilydusk
Midnight Poppy Land is also on a hiatus right now, getting ready for season 2, but again it is so worth it to read season 1! I love this story so much and the art is also so beautiful and makes me fall in love with the characters even more. This story is also a romance and is about this girl getting caught in some mafia stuff without meaning to, which is where she meets the main male lead who is one of the mafia tough guy killers who takes it upon himself to protect her. Itâs such a cute story and a really nice escapism story that I was really excited for every week that a new page came out.
True Beauty by Yaongyi
Now we have True Beauty which is still going and itâs already on season 2 so if youâre interested to start it, you have to get through a lot to catch up. Itâs also a romance with the love triangle trope about a girl who goes to high school and wears her makeup like a mask because without it she looks like a very different person and itâs just her story about that. I became really obsessed with it in the first season and I like it enough to keep reading, but the main character is really frustrating because sheâs so naĂŻve and honestly kind of stupid most of the time, just waiting around for her boys to save her, and it feels like the makeup aspect, which I thought would have the message of loving yourself even without makeup, was lost for the second season and kind of also went away. So kind of mad about that since thatâs why I started reading it, thinking it would have that type of positive message, but that went away and now I just read it for the dumb drama, the hot guys, and beautiful art. So if youâre into that, I recommend checking it out.
Love Me Knot by Sophia
This last one here I more recently got into and it still seems to be getting to the really good parts, because the first pages have been a good setup for future drama I think, but itâs a very cute story. I love all the characters because theyâre just so cute and likable and I also love the whole concept. So the concept is that everyone has these strings connecting them to their soulmate, but theyâre invisible to most people but not the main character. The main characterâs string is actually cut (like doesnât attach to anybody) but she can see everyone elseâs strings and who they attach to. Because of this she thinks that sheâll never be in love but then she meets a guy who also has his string cut and who can see strings and it goes from there. It also has a sort of love triangle aspect later on, but like I mentioned there hasnât been much drama and I feel like since there arenât that many pages yet, the foundation is still being made for the story and more stuff will come soon. In other words, I see a lot of potential for this story and I canât wait to see where itâs headed!
So thatâs it for this first part and Iâll have a second part coming soon since I couldnât fit all of my recommendations onto this list because there are so many, and I think I will be doing even more in the future. So I hope that someone found an interesting Webtoon on here that they want to read because I think that all of these creators deserve all the support they can get (and yes even the well known Webtoons, because theyâre well known for a reason!) So if youâre interested please check them out.Â
Until next time!

True Beauty (Webtoon): Why I Ship Seojun x Jugyeong
True Beauty (Webtoon): Why I Ship Seojun x Jugyeong
The whole Team Suho vs. Team Seojun war all began even when I started reading the âTrue Beautyâ Webtoon by Yaongyi during its early weekly updates on the platform in English. I was only on Team Suho for a hot second before switching to ship Seojun and Jugyeong (I canât remember exactly which chapter, but it was early on.)Â
My brother on the other hand is a hardcore Suho x Jugyeong shipper -- which I have no problem with -- but whenever I ask him why, his answers are always pretty vague and in summary itâs just because he likes Suho better and that's that.Â
In all honesty, I havenât read many comments on those that ship Suho with Jugyeong in amount to the ones Iâve read about Seojun -- which is one reason Iâm not exactly fit right now to be writing this blog yet -- but I mainly just wanted to share why Iâve been on Team Seojun all the way to Chapter 125 where I have currently left off.Â
1. I personally like Seojunâs character more than I do Suhoâs.Â
Donât get me wrong, the two of them are generally well-rounded characters with stunning looks and wholesome personalities, and I don't ever base ships off of how much I like one character (like my brother) but to me Suho has that typical K-drama male lead vibe, attitude and dressing, while Seojun is just a bit more attractive to me. He has sort of a model, street style with the slightest e-boy aesthetic, with a strong attitude when he wants to -- he has swag. In the beginning of the series I never knew he would become my favourite character next to Aiden, but I from the moment Suho left for Japan (and I feel kinda bad for saying this) I was rooting for Seojun to shoot his shot and get with Jugyeong while he had the chance...Â
Iâm the kind of person that tends likes to extra unnecessary drama if it makes the plot more interesting, so when Seojun finally kissed Jugyeong -- I was thrilled.Â
2. Seojun and Jugyeongâs friendship bond was more playful than her and Suhoâs.Â
Maybe my point of view has changed from when I first started reading the webcomic, but with my thoughts all recollected, I recalled moments when Jugyeong and Seojun would tease and hit each other, etc. which I admired because I believe that only decently close friends can get to that point. On the other hand, I recalled the scene where Jugyeong and Suho reached for the same comic book, the fact that theyâre both little nerds on the inside who both share a few similar hobbies. Their interactions were casual, yes, but it was a bit too cliche and expecting for me, especially after Suho saw and accepted her bare face.Â
Mostly, I prefer to read fast-paced stories with serious plots and characters with a variety of definitive, unique personalities and looks. But âTrue Beautyâ still got me hooked somehow -- maybe its the cliffhangers or the hanging questions that Iâm waiting to be answered -- but my point is, I assumed that Suho and Jugyeong together would be plain, while her and Seojunâs relationship outcome would be something I would keep coming back to read about, and I know that I could be very wrong about that. I could imagine Suho and Jugyeong going on cute dates where they would watch horror movies together or go shopping for comic books or something like that, just having a blast (they can do that stuff while being best friends too.)
If I were the one writing the book I would have probably had Seojun and Jugyeongâs dates be more interesting than going to get food or meeting at the park every once in a while, but that's not how it is and its one area where I would ship her and Suho over her and Seojun to be honest.Â
 3. Seojun and Jugyeong seem to love each other a lot.Â
Near the beginning of their relationship I began to have my doubts about the ship -- does Seojun care more about looks than the person themselves? Is Seojun selfish and puts himself before Jugyeong? Does Seojun not trust Jugeyeong at all? Is Jugyeong just with Seojun to get over Suho?
But I feel like every time they reassure their love for each other or apologize or think about ways they can improve their relationship, all of my questions have been answered already. From where Iâve read up to, Iâm strongly convinced that the two of them are in love -- okay maybe not Jugyeong this girl be swaying left and right about her feelings -- but Seojun for sure is trying his best to make their relationship work and everything theyâve done for each other is just adorable and I donât want to see them broken apart.Â
But of course somethingâs gonna happen cause Suhoâs male lead material and Seojun is probably the second lead and us K-drama lovers all know that the second lead doesnât end up with the girl in the end.Â
Anyways, one thing Iâd let to add to wrap up is that I do feel bad for Suho. This isnât a Suho hate post, I love him and know that he deserves love just as much as Seojun. It wasnât his fault he had to go on a trip and leave everything behind him. If he stayed, things probably wouldâve been different, but thatâs just how the story went.Â
I really hope this blog doesn't age badly lmfao.Â
