I'm amused by how Mighty Glory is 3 for 3 on what's shaping up to be the most "morally questionable" heroes in the Top 10. Yan Mo really knows how to pick em'. The potential workplace awkwardness is unmatched. These people (Yang Cheng: traumatized, Wang Yi: traumatized and mute, Liang Long: incorrigible problem child) are coworkers. Even funnier is that both Ghostblade and Dragon Boy were heroes under MG prior to the E-Soul battle, meaning that they were likely passingly acquainted with original E-Soul
One day they woke up and clocked into work and found out that original E-Soul got replaced with just a whole different guy, except its the same costume and powers and brand, there's just a completely new random person under the mask. Corporate office core ahh you are infinitely replaceable

"How Can You Like Dragon Boy:" and is always followed by:
[Spoilers] || TW: Mentions of Abuse & Grooming
> "He has no backstory/substance"
> "He's a villain who just wants to become a god with Yan Mo/Uncle Rock"
> "He killed Smile"
> "His power sucks, he just gets beat up in his fights"
> "He got folded immediately by X"
> "His only comeback is calling people trash"
> We did get backstory, did you watch ep 21 and 22 with your eyes closed? Did you even watch his promotional video? Its clear that his parents abused/neglected him Verbally and Physically, and in his Promotional Video you can see that he imagines the person he's beating up is both his mom and dad. He was also beaten up by random people (especially after swimming in frozen water); which [assuming here] i can see something not being a one off thing, especially with how most adults are in this show. And this isnt even going into season 2, where we will most likely get more information on this in S2.
Now watch me power through all these.
And that wasnt even including all the stuff with Yan Mo.
> He was groomed by Yan Mo as a child, and molded into the person he is now. His parents forced him to go through life threatening training, Verbally abused him when he didnt "do it perfectly" or just couldn't do it. His whole life [presumably] he was raised under the idea that strength = survival. So, when Yan Mo comes to him promising that he's going to do the same, train him to get stronger. But now theres a promise of glory at the end, God hood. In his eyes as a kid who's been raised to just get stronger and stronger, this is what he sees as a "happy ending". The fact that "you'll become a god" was so enticing for him was because his parents degraded him for all his failures, it wasnt just offhand praise; it was carefully selected words so that his current strength was framed as admiration instead of punishment. As a child thats been beaten down every time hes done something "wrong", this is the best validation hes gotten in a long time.
The fact that Dragon Boy was already being abused before meeting Yan Mo just made it easier for him to manipulate and groom him, since kids that were/are abused tend to latch onto any adult that can give or promise protection, care, or meaning of any kind (Promising that he would become a god, something nobody can touch). Positioning himself as "Uncle Rock", its another subtle manipulation tactic, putting himself into a family-like role and gives Liang Long hope, unlike his parents. This makes the manipulation stick because he doesnt see it as manipulation, to the child its taken as "finally being seen". To Liang Long, "becoming a god" means becoming untouchable, something invincible and unable to be forgotten or ignored; thats INTOXICATING to a child thats been abused their whole life. Its a promise of freedom from his current life.
While this doesnt excuse some of his actions, it shows WHY he acts like this. He isnt a "villain," just someone who was taken advantage of as a kid and was made into something they shouldn't of been.
> I lowkey cant defend him killing Smile other than "Smile was infected by fear" but even then Dragon boy was still being a bit of a tweaker to the poor old man before that π but like come awn guys some of your favs have killed a couple guys too... πΏ
> thats. Thats the literal point blank reasoning to how his power works. The more pain he feels/is subjected to, the stronger his own attacks are by factors of 2. He needs to ragebait and be a pain in the ass so people hit and beat him up more because that makes HIM STRONGER. So lets say Dragon Boy has a base power of 1.
After 1 hit β 2
After 2 hits β 4
After 3 hits β 8
After 4 hits β 16
After 5 hits β 32
Ect. [I believe this is what it means, please correct me if im wrong] thats why after he was choked to the point of losing consciousness and thrown around like a ragdoll by Fear Infected Smile, Dragon Boy was able to 1 hit him. He couldnt of done that before because when Smile wasnt Infected by fear, sure he threw DB around a bunch and punched him a bunch; but it wasnt enough to do dangerous damage [this is also taking into consideration of their rankings at the time, Dragon Boy being at a lower rank means that he wasnt as strong as he is currently]
> are we deadass? Do you KNOW how big the power difference between Queen and X? And how much BIGGER it is between him and anyone that isnt Queen???? Not to mention that DB is already at a disadvantage since he needs to get close to do damage, and X can change fucking reality HELP.
> He's parroting what his parents called him. This is VERY common in abuse victims because its what they think is "normal," his whole ideology about "ridding the world of trash" isnt his own view on life. calling people "trash" is what hes learnt from being a product from his environment. [This is headcanon teritory but it could be another reason] his whole idea on people being trash and the world being trash could come from an idea of "well, if everyone's so great" or "if heros are so great, why didnt anyone help me when I needed it?"
Rant over π Im just SICK AND TIRED OF PEOPLE NOT READING INTO THIS AMAZING CHARACTER. And to answer my original message at the top
