“We don't know much yet, just some guys on the ground who saw the shadow it casted…” Fahrenheit explains, sat on the terminal desk as Hancock rests in his chair with his boots in her lap. 

“Doesn't seem wise to make an official statement. Don't want folks gettin paranoid… well anymore than they already are,” Hancock takes off his tricorn so he can hang his head back. A weak attempt to get some blood flow to his brain. “Damn… I sound like an actual politician.” 

Fahr gives a single huff of amusement at that. She fishes in her pocket for her pack of cigarettes, placing one between her lips and tossing the pack into the hat at his lap. “Hate to say it, but you're probably right. We need more intel.” 

The mayor groans, thumbing out his own cig. He leans forward, allowing his bodyguard to light it, then falls right back, limply, in his chair. 

The Brotherhood of Steel, right above the commonwealth. And for what? He should've seen this coming. One scribe leads to a knight, leads to a station, leads to a giant ship and then probably a jackass steering it. 

Through a puff of smoke he starts, “ya think we should–” 

“Hey boss, there's some new girl askin questions out front. Not the typical how much does this cost? Question either. I checked this time.” One of the watchmen comes knocking through the cracked office door. 

A moment of silence as Hancock and Fahrenheit stare at the man. 

“What? Should I do a meet n’ greet or somethin?” Hancock finally asks, earning a full laugh from Fahr. 

“Uh maybe…she was askin bout who's running the place…” 

Hancock hums in acknowledgement. He takes a puff of his cig while getting up, joints cracking as he stretches. “Alright, give me a sec.” 

Glances are exchanged between him and Fahr, a silent understanding that they'll be picking up this conversation later. Hancock dumps the pack of cigs out of his hat and into her hand, then puts himself back together. 

Some new girl with questions? 

Well, he typically had answers. 

He makes his way down the spiral of the statehouse, the trail of smoke circling around him. Then just as he's about to open the door to the street, light floods in, an unfamiliar woman right at his doorstep. An oddly warm look about her, uncommon for the wasteland, but the few scars on her face assured the mayor that she belonged here.

If she was the one asking around, then someone must have pointed her into his direction already.
