Captain's Snowflake (Steve Rogers x Reader) Part 17
Marvel Masterlist Season 1
Natasha ran in moments after we got there, Steve was leaning against the window as I stood by his side, feeling like I was a ghost watching while I knew Fury was about to fake his own death. Was I supposed to fake cry? Was I supposed to act like everything was going to be okay? I knew it would, but they had no real reason to believe that right now.
“Is he gonna make it?” Natasha asked softly.
“I don’t know.” Steve said before she looked at me.
“Lyn?” She asked softly but I kept my eyes on the surgeons looking at Fury.
“I never thought coming here would end with me having to keep so many other people's secrets.” I said after a moment then looked at her. Sitwell is here. I can’t just give up information that could compromise us or Fury. “I can’t answer you right now.” I said quietly and she looked unsure but turned back to the window before I looked up at Steve, his eyes looking at me like he was trying to read me and I squeezed his hand, hoping he understood I couldn’t say anything here.
“Tell me about the shooter.” Natasha said and Steve sighed.
“He was fast. Strong.” He breathed before he took a deep inhale. “He had a metal arm.” He said and I could see the recognition in Nat’s eyes through her reflection, like she was reliving the last time she encountered the same soldier.
“Ballistics?” She asked as Agent Hill walked up beside her.
“Three slugs, no rifling. Completely untraceable.” She said and I looked down, feeling so much guilt that everyone else in here just wanted answers. Answers I have but I’m unable to tell them.
I let go of Steve’s hand and wrapped my arms around myself, taking a step back. He seemed so lost in thought, I’m not even sure he noticed I had slipped away, just going to a quiet corner as I tried to take some deep breaths. I wanted to scream. Why do I need to keep all these secrets? Why am I the one who has to care so damn much and watch as everyone else struggles to find answers that I already know? I didn’t even realize I started crying before I felt water running down my chin and neck, the droplets turning cold quickly as I curled into a ball. It had to have been at least 20 minutes before I managed to compose myself, not even knowing where Steve or Natasha would by now but hoping they were still by the room with Fury’s body. I had just turned the corner when I saw Natasha walking out of that room, Steve walking out after her as she looked like she wanted to murder someone.
“Natasha!” Steve called after her and she stopped, turning to him as I approached them.
“Why was Fury in your apartment?” She asked and Steve sighed, shrugging slightly as he looked at her.
“I don’t know.” He said and then she turned to me.
“You do.” She said and I went to open my mouth before Rumlow walked over.
“Cap, they want you back at S.H.I.E.L.D.” He said and Steve looked at him and nodded.
“Yeah, give me a second.” He said as he tried to turn back to Natasha and I.
“They want you now.” Rumlow said and I felt my anger flare up at him.
“Fuck off, Rumlow.” I snapped and he glared at me and I gave a small grin, turning to Natasha. I wonder, since the mcu says its ‘earth 616’ as the sacred timeline, does that mean its more similar to the comics in the actual universe then just in the movies? “Hey, Nat, you ever heard of a girl named Rachel Leighton?” I asked, still looking at Rumlow and he seemed to stiffen before he scowled at me and walked away to some other agents.
“What was that?” Nat asked and Steve looked at me in concern.
“Small test to see how similar people's backstories are in this compared to the comics.” I said before shrugging. “At least I know my hate for Rumlow is still completely justified.” I said and Natasha looked confused before she shook her head and Steve looked at me.
“Stay here, okay?” He asked and I nodded. He pulled me in close, which kind of surprised me, and kissed me firmly, pressing something into my hand before he let me go.
“Have fun jumping out of another building.” I said cheekily and he sighed, shaking his head softly, kissing me once more before he left to follow Rumlow. I blushed and looked at Natasha who had a raised eyebrow.
“Finally spoiler time?” She asked and I chuckled, pulling her into one of the adjacent rooms, putting the blinds down and turning the lights off. “Okay, so what happened to Fury?” She asked immediately and I grinned, keeping my voice low just in case.
“Okay, first off, that motherfucker is not dead. Second off, I know you have encountered the Winter Soldier before but I also need you to remember he is a brainwashed man who's completely under their control. He doesn’t even know his actions are wrong right now because his mission is literally all they let him remember.” I said and she looked at me for a moment before she blinked and raised an eyebrow.
“You know who the Winter Soldier is?” She asked, seeming genuinely confused and I looked at her like she had two heads.
“I literally know what Tony’s first child looks like. I know what your children in a whole nother universe look like. Of course I know who the fuck he is!” I whisper shouted and she opened her mouth then closed it, nodding.
“Fair point.” She said and I sighed before putting a hand on my head.
“Not to mention I think Steve is already piecing together who he is and that’s going to be a whole thing when he realizes. He literally finds out tomorrow.” I said and she furrowed her brows again.
“Wait Steve knows the Winter Soldier?” She asked as she stood in front of me and I looked at her, putting my hands on her shoulders.
“Natasha, the Winter Soldier, is Bucky fucking Barnes. Steve was and is literally Bros For Life with the Winter Soldier. He just doesn’t fucking realize it yet.” I said before her face turned to complete shock.
“Wait, Bucky is the Winter soldier?” She asked and I nodded and she looked like she was trying to just wrap her head around this all.
“Oh, and here’s what Fury was at our place to give Steve. It’s what you recovered from the Lemurian star. We need to wait here and lay low for when Steve gets back.” I said and she furrowed her brows.
“Why do we have to lay low?” She asked and I sighed, unable to believe I’m actually about to say this.
“We’re about to be wanted by all of S.H.I.E.L.D. once they realize Steve knows something.” I said and she nodded, I then got an idea and grinned, getting my phone out. “Wanna see what Steve’s doing right now? It’ll be a lot shorter than how long it'll take here but you'll understand everything.” I suggested and her eyes widened as she nodded.
“Better to show me then not. I’m tired of not knowing what’s going on.” She said and I opened Captain America: The Winter Soldier and scrolled to the point we were at. We just sat there, huddled as she took out her headphones, giving me one as we watched Steve deal with Alexander, then get chased around a bit.
“I am so glad I am not with him right now.” I mused and she raised her brows in amusement, a small smile on her face.
“He’s definitely gonna feel that later.” She said after seeing him land on his shield from breaking out of the elevator glass and we looked at each other before laughing slightly, knowing she was 100% right, and I’ll probably be the one helping him get better. Even if he’s alright anyways. I’m glad she seemed a little less stressed now though, less bogged down by the ‘death’ of Fury and finally getting some answers.
—Steve’s POV—
“Captain, why was Nick in your apartment last night?” Alexander Pierce asked me as I sat in his office. I was brought in for questioning, but I was trying to figure out why he was the one doing the questioning, and why did Lyn really not like him?
“I don’t know.” I said and he was quiet for a moment as he sat in front of me.
“Did you know it was bugged?” He asked and I looked at him, nodding slightly.
“I did, because Nick told me.” I said and Alexander looked down at his hands then back up at me.
“Did he or Agent Laverna tell you he was the one who bugged it?” He asked and I kept my face neutral as I could, but I couldn’t help it as I furrowed my brows at the mention of Lynette.
“Why would Lynette have known?” I asked, unsure if he was aware of her abilities and such, and he looked at me for a moment or two, like he was studying me a bit before he reached over to a small remote.
“I want you to see something.” He said, a video of one of the hijackers of the Luminar Star was in a room with an interrogator.
“Who hired you, Batroc?” The interrogator asked and I looked at Alexander.
“Is that live?” I asked and he nodded, not taking his eyes off the video.
“Yeah, they picked him up last night in a sot-so-safe house in Algiers.” He said and I furrowed my brows slightly.
“Are you saying he’s a suspect? Assasination isn’t in Batroc’s line.” I pointed out but Pierce shook his head.
“No, no. It’s more complicated than that.” He said as I watched the live footage of Batroc who sat there. “Batroc was hired anonymously to attack the Lemurian Star. And he was contacted by email and paid by wire transfer,” He started, sighing slightly as he explained.
“And then the money was run through 17 fictitious accounts.” He said, which made me look back at him. “The last one going to a holding company that was registered to a Jacob Veech.” He said, handing me a file as I looked at him, slightly confused.
“Am I supposed to know who that is?” I asked as I started to flip through the file.
“Not likely. Veech died six years ago.” He answered, his eyes downcast. “His last address was 1435 Elmhurst Drive. When I first met Nick, his mother lived at 1437.” He said and I looked at him with raised eyebrows.
“Are you saying Fury hired the pirates? Why?” I asked, something feeling very off to me as Pierce looked up.
“The prevailing theory, was that the hijacking was a cover for the acquisition and sale of classified intelligence.” He said and looked back down at the file, something really not feeling right. “The sale went sour and that led to Nick’s death.” He said and I felt something in me pause. Why did that sentence seem so fishy to me?
“If you really knew Nick Fury, you’d know that’s not true.” I said, looking up at him carefully and he gave a small nod.
“Why do you think we’re talking?” He asked and stood up, me feet following him as he walked to his desk. “See, I took a seat on the council not because I wanted to, but because Nick asked me to, because we were both realists.” He said, walking past his desk to stare out the window.
“We knew that, despite all the diplomacy and the hand shaking and the rhetoric, that to build a really better world, sometimes means having to tear the old one down.” He said, tapping on the glass lightly before turning to me. “And that makes enemies.” He said, raising his eyebrows slightly and taking a few steps forward as I stood there.
“Those people that call you dirty because you got the guts to stick your hands in the mud and try to build something better. And the idea that those people could be happy today makes me really really angry.” He finished. Looking at me for along moment before he spoke again. “Captain, you and Agent L were the last to see Nick alive. I don’t think that’s an accident.” He said, his eyebrows raising again.
“And I don’t think you do, either.” He mused before giving me a firm look. “So I’m going to ask again. Why was he there?” He asked and I was silent for a moment, but I knew I had to say something, even just to get him off of me as a target for a moment. I eyed him carefully before deciding what to say.
“He told me not to trust anyone.” I said and he gave a small hum.
“I wonder if that included him. Or even Agent L.” He said and then I realized he was trying to plant doubt in me about her. Fury said to trust her and I do, even if some things can make it feel like I don’t, I know I do.
“I’m sorry. Those were his last words.” I said firmly and a beat of silence passed. “Excuse me.” I said, excusing myself to leave as I walked to the door. Pierce didn’t just seem to be focused on Fury. He mentioned Lyn so much, as if probing for a reaction of information.
“Captain?” He called before I left, waiting until I stopped and turned to him to continue. “Somebody murdered my friend and I’m going to find out why.” He said, taking a moment to pause and look at me.
“Anyone gets in my way, they’re gonna regret it.” He said, giving me a pointed look. “Anyone.” He emphasized before I nodded.
“Understood.” I said, before walking out.

Waiting for the elevator didn’t take too long. Entering it as I leaned against the railing, looking out at the city below, barely noticing the chatter as Rumlow and two other STRIKE team members walked in, not until Rumlow gave a small greeting, one I gave back before looking down. The elevator doors closed and we started our decent down when Rumlow turned to me.
“Evidence response found some fibers on the roof they want us to see. You want me to get the tac team ready?” He asked and I looked at him briefly before looking back down.
“No, let’s wait and see what it is first.” I said and he nodded.
“Right.” He said, a moment passing when I noticed one of the other team members had his hand lightly over his gun. I thought it was strange and I remembered Lynn's warning about jumping out of a building eventually. I hoped she wasn’t right, cause I really don’t want to deal with this right now. The elevator continued for a moment before opening on another floor, multiple chatting men in suits with cases coming in which I thought was odd. The amount of elevators in this building and it’s crowded here? Not something I’ve seen often like this.
“Sorry what happened with Fury.” Rumlow said once the doors had closed again. “It’s messed up, what happened to him.” He said and I looked at him, looking forward once more. Lyn didn’t trust him so I didn’t either.
“Thank you.” I said and he nodded. I looked around then when I noticed something. Some of the business men were sweating, almost as if they were nervous and then the doors opened again, three more members of the STRIKE team entered and I felt myself sigh internally. This is gonna be a fight, isn’t it? I looked around, realizing this was because of the usb and I prepared myself mentally, waiting for the doors to close knowing I was probably going to hate this all. Once the doors were closed, I waited a beat before speaking. “Before we get started,” I started, looking around.
“Does anyone want to get out?”
----Lynette’s POV----
Natasha and I were waiting in the dark room for Steve to come by, both of us quietly chatting as she kept an eye out by the door and I sat back in a chair. I had told her what I could. How Fury did it, how dangerous this would be, how would they know things are going according to plan, all things I answered as best I could. I explained the medication Bruce made for himself that Fury in turn, used for this very event; I explained that there were a few.. big explosions.. but that things should be fine. I mentioned who Sam was briefly and how he was a good guy, how she needed to be careful when the Winter soldier is there, which she's slightly on guard about but I assured her it would be okay. She agreed it would be best for me to keep track of the timeline rather than them, since I knew this knowledge a lot more and thought of things a lot quicker than they can. I think even now, two years later basically, they are still struggling to wrap their heads fully around my original world.
“Do you really think Steve would hate you?” She asked me after a few moments of silence and I hesitated, opening my mouth to respond, then I sighed.
“I don't know.” I said quietly, looking up at the ceiling. “I know he loves me.” I said as I looked down at my hands.
“But I don't know if we'd survive all the secrets of the future I have to keep.” I said before I felt a small lump in my throat. “I can't even tell him when Peggy will go.” I said quietly and her eyes softened.
“He'd never-”
“He did.. one time he asked.” I said and she looked at a loss for words. “I'm just trying to get him to spend whatever time he wants with her, because I know he only has a few years left with her here. But I can't prepare him before it happens. The emotions of people play such critical roles in our actions..” I trailed off and she put a hand on my shoulder.
“You can't prevent it. He understands that. And you can't guide him through these major events, he also understands that.” She said and I sighed again, nodding.
“I know, I just don't want to hurt him and I have so many people to keep things from, I wish I could just tell him everything.” I said and that's when my phone buzzed, Nat’s arm dropping from my shoulder.
Stevie<3: Are you safe?
“He's okay.” I said, letting out a breath I didn't know I was holding as I responded positively to him.
Stevie<3: I’m almost back, stay there
Stevie<3: Pierce mentioned you
I felt something in me pause at that, Nat seeing the shift in my face.
“What’s wrong?” She asked and I looked at her, feeling my worry about HYDRA’s knowledge of me rising slowly.
“Pierce mentioned me to Steve.” I said and she furrowed her brows. “How much could HYDRA even know about me?” I asked her and her lips pressed into a line.
“Why is Pierce mentioning you a bad thing?” She asked and I looked at her for a moment before she tensed. “You said Pierce, and then got worried about HYDRA.. Is, Pierce HYDRA?” She asked and I sighed, rubbing my face as I nodded.
Captain's Snowflake (Steve Rogers x Reader) Part 16
Marvel Masterlist Season 1
I let Steve have his alone time with Peggy, knowing the moments were short enough as is with her lapsing memory. He needed those few moments with her, but I knew it hurt him every time she forgot their conversations all over again, how she always ends up thinking it's the first time she's seen him. It was going to be like a gut punch when he realized Bucky forgot him. Could I tell him? Would it effect anything if I prepared him for the fact Bucky won't remember him? No. Bucky needs to understand that Steve recognizes him, and that triggers him to realize he knows him somehow. It was too important and I had to just hope he took it as well as he did in the original storyline. I was waiting outside for Steve, in thought as I wrote my thoughts down in my notebook. I kept it on me at all times in case I had an idea and wanted to look into it later, or if I remembered a detail that would be easily forgotten, but important. I guess I was so caught up in my writing that I didn't notice when Steve came out, putting a hand on mine, stopping my pen and I looked up at him.
“Mine if we make one more stop?” He asked and I chuckled.
“Yes, I'm okay with going to see Sam.” I said and he smiled softly.
“I didn't tell you about him yet, did I?” He asked and I shook my head.
“You didn't have to. Sam Wilson, also known as The Falcon later on.” I said before grinning a little, following Steve to his motorcycle.
“Why ‘The Falcon'?” He asked and I grinned, putting my helmet on with him insisting on helping strap it on as always.
“You'll find out very soon.” I said and he gave me a curious look. “Hes gonna get roped into our chaos. It's willingly though so it's his fault if he complains.” I said and he chuckled as we got on the bike.
“Good to know I can really trust him.” He said and I chuckled.
“You are a good judge of character. Anyone you'd trust, I would trust without a doubt.” I mused and he gave one of my hands around him a squeeze as he started his bike.
“You put a lot of faith into me.” He hummed and I squeezed him slightly.
“Because I know that faith is well placed.” I said to him before we were off to the VA.
—------------------------
I looked around the hall. Originally they used a church from Ohio to film this scene, but I was curious since I didn’t really grow up around churches. I did Key Bible club during lunch in elementary, but I think that’s where my religious journey ended. I did get interested in folklore and mythology in my late teens, even wanting to see about taking a college class for it, but I didn’t have the best friends at the time to support my goals and interests. I’m glad I have the friends I do now, even if they were the fictional characters of my childhood come to life.
Steve was leaning against the doorframe like in the movie, listening to the woman talk about how she swerved to avoid a plastic bag thinking it was an IED. I slowly made my way over to him as Sam started talking, Steve unfolding his arms to wrap around my waist, pulling me into his side. I smiled slightly and hugged him, listening to Sam's speech to the veteran's, encouraging them to find healing and learn to cope and handle their issues rather than bottling them up or trying to fix themselves. I really liked his speech in this scene, especially since it is something both Steve and Bucky can relate to with how much they have been through and how much they still carry with them. Bucky has a long road to recovery after this, and until Civil War, I don't know how much I can really help him besides offering him kindness. I didn't even realize Sam had finished until Steve straightened up and pulled me back, letting all the people leave as Sam bid them goodbye.
“Look who it is, the running man.” He mused as he walked over to a small table with pamphlets and brochures on it. Steve walked over as I leaned against the wall, smiling at them softly.
“Caught the last few minutes. It's pretty intense.” He said, leaning against the corner of the wall as Sam started straightening the things on the table.
“Yea, brother, we all got the same problems.” He said, looking up at Steve briefly. “Guilt, regret.” He said and pursed his lips.
“You lose someone?” Steve asked and Sam nodded, looking to Steve.
“My wingman, Riley.” He said as he took a deep breath. “Flying a night mission. Standard PJ rescue op. Nothing we hadn't done 1,000 times before.” He said and I moved to stand by Steve.
“Until an RPG knocked Riley’s dumbass out of the sky.” He said, crossing his arms. “Nothing I could do.” He shook his head, looking away for a moment.
“It’s like I was up there just to watch.”
“I'm sorry.” Steve said softly.
“After that, I had a really hard time finding a reason for being over there, you know?” He said and Steve looked down at the table, sucking in a breath as he was quiet for a moment.
“But you're happy now, back in the world?” He asked and Sam gave a small chuckle as he looked around.
“The number of people giving me orders is down to about zero. So, hell yeah.” He said with a smile and Steve chuckled. “Are you thinking about getting out?” He asked and Steve looked away again briefly. I squeezed his hand in comfort and he looked at me softly.
“Maybe.” He said and I felt myself pause. That wasn't his line. He should have said no. “I've been thinking about it.” He added, looking back at Sam. I looked at Steve for a moment before I blushed and looked down, hugging onto his arm gently. Was that because of me?
“Not sure yet what I'd do for myself if I did.” He said and Sam chuckled, raising a brow.
“Ultimate fighting? Just off the top of my head.” He suggested jokingly which made Steve and I laugh. “Seriously, you could do whatever you want to do.” He said, before looking at me.
“You already got a girl clearly. What makes you happy?” He asked and I blushed, Steve's arm going around me as he pulled me into his side.
“You'd always make a great firefighter.” I suggested and he grinned, looking down at me.
“You'd sure be happy about that, wouldn't you?” He asked and I smiled, looking away.
“I wouldn't complain, but if you want a fulfilling and needed career, it's always a good option for you.” I said and Sam nodded, raising his brows.
“She's got a point. Firehouses are almost always looking for volunteers. Security guard, paramedic, Search and Rescue too. Could be good to even just fill some spare time.” He said and Steve seemed to think it over before shrugging.
“I'll have to give it some thought.” He said before Sam nodded and looked at him expectantly.
“So, you gonna introduce me to your girl or should I just start calling her Mrs. Rogers already?” He asked and Steve and I blushed, the blonde looking down as he grinned, scratching the back of his neck.
“Right, uh, Sam, this is Lynnette Laverna, my girlfriend.” He said and I held a hand out for him to shake, even though I knew exactly who he was.
“Sam Wilson, pleasure to meet you.” He said and I smiled.
“It’s great to meet you. Steve needs more friends,” I said, looking up at the blonde who rolled his eyes.
“I have friends.” He said and I raised an eyebrow.
“Your coworkers and your girlfriend don’t count.” I shot back and he sighed, hanging his head slightly as Sam chuckled.
“You two are real sweet together, you know that?” Sam asked and I blushed, Steve’s grin widening as he pulled me close.
“AlI know is that I’m lucky to have her.” He mused and my blush deepened as I looked at him.
“We’re both lucky.”
—--------------------
We were headed for home, both of us stopping for some food even though I didn't have much of an appetite. We were talking to Sam and eating while Fury was getting attacked. I tried to not let it ruin our visit with Sam, but now it won’t leave my head. I’ve never seen someone actually wounded, let alone actually get shot up right in front of me. I think Steve could see my discomfort because he stopped me before we went up the stairs, a concerned look on his face.
“What’s wrong?” He asked and I swallowed the lump in my throat and shook my head.
“I’m fine.” I said but he gave me an unconvinced look.
“I can feel you shaking. You have been the whole way home.” He said and it was then I actually noticed how much I was shaking, my hands refusing to stay still with the fear that was in me. “Is something about to happen?” He asked and I bit my lip but nodded which made him sigh, holding both my hands in his.
“I..I know it all turns out fine but I’ve..” I had to stop to take a breath because my voice was coming out so shaky. “Fuck, I can’t even tell you because Fury says the apartment is bugged so I don’t even know if here is safe to tell you anything right now.” I said quietly, putting my face on his chest as I realized my mistake. If the apartment really was bugged, who knows what they might have heard or gathered about my knowledge from what I’ve told Steve. Who knows how much they now know of my world. I think I fucked up. Fuck.
“Hey, hey, it’s okay. If everything turns out fine, then we will just handle everything as we go, and once we are safe, you tell me everything you need to, okay?” He said, his hands holding my face. “Are you scared?” He asked and I nodded.
“Fury’s in our apartment and he’s gonna get shot and I’ve never exactly been around guns a lot unlike everyone else at S.H.I.E.L.D., let alone watching someone get shot.” I whispered, Steve’s eye’s widening before he held my arms and looked at me firmly.
“Lyn, if you’re scared, stay behind me. I swear, I won't let anything happen to you.” He said before letting out a small sigh and going quiet for a moment. “I can’t stop it?” He asked and I looked at him with sad eyes, shaking my head.
“Without me, you wouldn’t have even known about it. It needs to happen.” I said softly and he closed his eyes and sighed before nodding.
“Stay close, and stay away from the windows, alright?” He asked and I nodded before he composed himself and headed up, passing Sharon on the way up as we gave her a polite nod. She only really ever acknowledged Steve, but I didn’t care. If she kisses him during the civil war era and he and I are still together however, I will care. We heard the record player before we entered and he looked at me with a bit of realization. “You prepared for this.” He said softly for a moment before he opened the door. I looked down and nodded, feeling like he was possibly upset that I didn't tell him then, but I couldn’t let him go the whole day thinking about it like I had to.
“I have to try and prepare for everything if I’m going to be helpful in the future.” I said quietly and he was silent before he lightly kissed my head, entering the apartment and picking up his shield, moving quietly before peaking around the corner, not fully letting his guard down even after he saw Fury in the arm chair.
“I don’t remember giving you a key.” Steve said as he leaned against the wall. Fury slowly and with a painful grunt, leaned forward in his seat, his arm supporting him as it rested on the arm of the chair. He has his phone in his hand and I got my own phone out, getting my notes app out and ready. He needed to know things are still going according to the timeline. Things will still turn out alright so far if everyone just kept playing their part.
“You really think I’d need one?” He asked and Steve was quiet, watching him. “My wife kicked me out.” He said, his voice low as his breathing seemed to struggle to fully settle. Steve still had his shield in his hand, his other one holding mine firmly.
“I didn’t know you were married.” Steve said and Fury looked to the side for a moment before giving a small nod and looking back at Steve and I.
“A lot of things you don’t know about me.” He hummed and Steve finally walked out from behind the corner of the wall
“I know, Nick. That’s the problem.” Steve sighed, moving to turn the light on and the record player off when Nick held up a hand, my hand in his pulling him back slightly. I felt myself instinctually wanting to pull him closer, out of range of any possible bullets even though I knew he didn’t get hit anyways. Fury turned the light back off, Steve looking at me then him as he typed on his phone before turning it around.
‘Ears Everywhere’
Steve nodded, myself raising a small hand and Fury gave a small smirk. He should have figured I’d tell Steve, and even Fury could notice how frightened I was, waiting for the assassin to think he’s killed Fury was always going to be nerve wracking when you’re there with them.
“I’m sorry to have to do this, but I have no place else to crash.” He said, turning the phone back around to show us another message, ‘SHIELD compromised’ the only words I had been worried to admit downstairs in case everywhere else was bugged here too. Steve looked at him with furrowed brows before looking at me quickly and I nodded.
“Who else knows about your wife?” Steve asked him when he turned to face him once more.
“Just..” He grunted as he stood up, his phone turning to read ‘You two and me’ as he took some steps closer. “My friends.” He finished and Steve have him a hard look.
“Is that what we are?” He asked him and I pulled him back slightly, hiding behind him more even if I felt pathetic for doing it.
“That’s up to you.” He said before looking at me. “Lyn?” He asked and I gave a small thumbs up from behind Steve before maybe a dozen shots rang out, hitting Fury as I yelped. Steve pulled me back, dragging Fury behind cover when he fell. I immediately started putting pressure on the wounds, Steve looking between the window where he saw the shooter, me and Fury. Fury grabbed his arm and looked at him firmly before opening his palm to show the hard drive in his hand.
“Don’t trust, anyone.” Fury said as he struggled to breath. The door burst open and Sharon came in with her gun raised.
“Captain Rogers?” She called as Steve looked around the corner.
“Sharon get the hell in here and call an ambulance!” I yelled, the blonde coming running before she looked at the scene in shock, Steve looking between her and me in confusion this time as I groaned in frustration. “She’s been undercover for S.H.I.E.L.D. special service this whole time. She’s assigned to protect you on Fury’s orders, even though that's stupid, but right now none of that matters. Call a damn ambulance.” I said and she nodded, getting out her radio.
“Foxtrot is down, he’s unresponsive. I need EMT’s.” Sharon said into her radio as Steve noticed the window the assassin, also Bucky, was looking through.
“Do we have a 20 on the shooter?” The dispatcher asked and Steve looked at me and I nodded.
“Go.” I told him and he nodded.
“Tell him I’m in pursuit.” Steve said before he jumped through our window into the neighboring building, starting the chase scene that would amount to little besides showing off Bucky’s metal arm. Sharon hurried with me as we tried to stop the bleeding, myself getting ready to do CPR when Fury’s pulse stopped.
“How did you know I was undercover?” Sharon asked and I looked at her with a small smirk.
“Fury told you nothing about me, did he?” I asked and she was quiet for a moment. “That’s okay. Just know that even if I probably won't get along with you, I know we can trust you in the end.” I said and she just looked at me for a moment before EMT’s suddenly arrived moments later and took over. It was only a few minutes after that Steve came back looking conflicted and deep in thought. I grabbed our go bags and we all headed to the hospital with Fury. Steve had checked on me when he got back, but he was very quiet. I knew he was smart. He was probably starting to already piece together who the assassin could be, and it made my throat tight. My hand never left his once the whole ride, his fingers laced with mine and holding tight. I already knew this was just the start of our very long journey to the chaos again.
Captain's Snowflake (Steve Rogers x Reader) Part 15
Marvel Masterlist Season 1
I walked over to Steve after he got back, checking him over, some debris still in his hair and plenty of dust on his suit. He looked tired and he leaned into my touch when I put a hand on his cheek, fixing his hair slightly. I hugged him, even if he was dirty, and gave a small sigh.
“Alright, when are we going to Fury?” I asked and he sighed, putting a hand on my head before he tilted my chin up, kissing me for a moment before he put his forehead to mine.
“Just give me a minute with you first.” He said and I smiled, closing my eyes as I held him close.
“We could also go home so you can shower and change before it?” I asked and he seemed to think it over for a moment before I looked up at him. “Tonight is going to suck by the way. Just a heads up.” I said and he gave a small sigh, looking at his watch. He'd already been up for nearly 12 hours, so to hear the day wasn't over was probably not what he wanted to hear.
“Is it bad?” He asked and I hesitated, looking at the star on his chest as I nodded. “I want you to stay with me, no matter what through all of this, okay?” He said and I chuckled.
“You say that as if you aren’t the one who's going to be in danger in the next day or so.” I said and he gave a light smile before he kissed my forehead, rubbing my arm gently.
“Okay, stay with me as much as you can as long as you’re not in danger.” He said and I gave him a raised eyebrow.
“You literally end up jumping out a building window. Then a few hours later nearly got blown up. I don’t think that's possible for the most part.” I said before tilting my head. “I can avoid that first part though. Also, Fury is going to be pissed at me by the end of this.” I said and he raised an eyebrow, his hand moving some hair out of my face.
“Why?” He asked and I scratched the back of my neck.
“Maybe I should wait until after your talk with Fury to tell you more. You kinda need to know what project INSIGHT is before things start making a little more sense.” I said and he furrowed his brows but nodded.
“Then I supposed we should head home before all this begins, huh?” He asked and I nodded, giving him one last small squeeze before we left. I couldn't help my grip on his hand tightening though, my anxiety had been bad the past few days, but it was worse today. I think he could tell when we got to his bike as when I put my helmet on, he pushed me to the front of the seat, making me look at him in confusion before he got on behind me. He didn't have a helmet on, but he laid a kiss on my shoulder to try and relax me. “Just breathe, Lynn. All this will be over soon.” He told me and I nodded before he started up his bike, his chin rested just by my shoulder. I took a deep breath to calm myself before I leaned back into him, one of my hands on his thighs as he took off.
—----------------------
Steve was getting ready for a shower and I was packing a bag, knowing if the apartment was going to get shot up the least I could do is prepare some bags both of us could grab, or get things like Steve's records in a safe spot. I had also arranged for Maria to come and grab my laptop, knowing she was definitely the best person to take it for the time being. Steve came out in just a towel as I was moving said records from their stand where they would definitely be shot to hell, storing them carefully in the closet. His collection was expensive after all the ones he got from Tony and I didn't want anything to happen to them. The record player is kinda important for the scene, so I couldn’t do much about it, but I did prepare for that, grinning at the brand new, but still vintage styled record player in its box. When Steve goes to find his records, he'll see it as well so he still has a functioning player.
“What are you up to?” He asked and I looked at him with a sheepish smile.
“Trying to make things a little better for what I know happens later. There's a reason I needed us to come back here since we won't get the chance to later.” I said and he still looked confused and nodded before seeing I missed a record.
“Hey, this isn't the kitty kallen one I have.” He said and I chuckled, putting it back on the shelf.
“That's because I didn't want anything happening to your own records. I got a replacement one.” I said and he looked even more confused.
“Why would we need a replacement?” He asked and I faltered slightly, a moment passing before understanding crossed his face, he nodded and kissed my head. “Nevermind. I trust your judgement.” He said and I felt my chest warm at that as he pulled me over to the bathroom.
“But if we’re not getting a break for a bit, I think I want to spend some special time with you.” He said and I raised a brow. “Join me in the shower?” He asked and I blushed, rolling my eyes before letting him bring me into the already warm bathroom, shutting the door behind us before his lips were on mine in an instant.
His hands crawled under my shirt, pulling it up and over my head before our lips clashed in an instant. He was eager to get me undressed and so was I. He let me go for a moment, checking the shower temperature first before he let me step in, him staying behind me when I felt him press me against the wall. I could feel him towering over me, his hard member pressing against my ass as his lips trailed down my neck and shoulder, one of his hands travelling down my front. God, he made me so horny and he knew it.
“Steve..” I whined, a small chuckle coming from him when his fingers caught my clit, circling it slowly as I tried to not let my legs lock. I moaned, the steam from the heat and water making us stick in a way that had goosebumps on my skin.
“Fuck.. I love you. I love you so much, Lynnette.” He said, turning me around as he kissed me roughly. I wrapped my arms around his neck, his fingers dipping into my soaked hole as he groaned. “You have no idea how feral you make me.” He breathed and I felt something shiver in me, liking the sound of a feral Steve.
“Maybe you should show me.” I breathed and he smirked, his hands moving to cup my thighs when he suddenly picked me up.
“I think I should.” He said, our lips crashing as he lined up with my entrance, his tip slipping in as we both moaned, our kiss deepening as he bottomed out in me. He wasted no time in setting a pace, a deep and sensual rhythm that made my toes curl. He still took his time, but his touch was slightly rougher, his calloused hands squeezing my soft skin enough to leave bruises of his finger tips. His tongue swiped my bottom lip, begging for entrance and he let out a deep groan when I denied him. He suddenly sped up his pace, catching me off guard as I gasped, his tongue quick to take its chance as he completely dominated me. He didn't slow down, his hips ramming into me like he was trying to break me.
My hands scratched his back, feeling the water hitting his skin, and one of my hands moved to hold the back of his head, grabbing his hair as I mewled and became undone in his arms. He pressed my thighs into me, holding me tight as he moaned and grunted above me. My eyes rolled back and I suddenly felt the building dam in me break and I came, tears lining my eyes as he only went faster. He buried his face in the crook of my neck, his name and more moans the only thing that could come out of my mouth. God, he felt divine.
“I love feeling you cum.” His voice was low, almost a growl as he pressed me into the wall more, my chest against his as he left messy kisses and small bites along my neck and shoulder. I cried out his name, his pace made it hard to process his words. His big hands on my thighs, his pounding hips, lips all over my skin, I couldn't stop it as I came again, seeing white as my eyes rolled back again. “Oh fuck.. god, fuck, I love you, baby.” He hissed, kissing me again, swallowing my cries as his pace faltered.
“I'm gonna cum.. oh God..” He whined, his hips slowed, thrusting deep into me when he shuttered, stilling in me as he came. We panted, staying there for a moment before he gently set me down on shaky legs. He kissed me after we had both caught our breath, his hands holding the sides of my face as I smiled slightly, hugging him.
“I love you.” I said and he grinned, pecking my lips once.
“I love you too, so much.” He told me, both of us taking a few moments to ground ourselves before Steve decided he wanted to wash me. I made sure to give him just as much attention as he gave me, both of us ending up soapy as the smell of lilac and old spice filled the bathroom. It wasn't long before we were both dry and dressed, Steve keeping an arm around me as we walked out of the apartment.
I had left a note for Fury, telling him I knew the plan and that I will be helping the defenders after this event. It would still be a few hours before he got there, but at least then he knows things are still going according to the timeline. I had to assure him multiple times that if things go according to the timeline, things work out. I did tell him that I’d be changing a few things by just being here in general, but he wasn’t too concerned about that. I just had to hope I never do anything that does more harm than good.
—----------------------
I followed after Steve, his demeanor was a lot more calm then in the movie originally and I felt slightly better. I’m lowering the dramatics I guess with Steve. This could work out better, keeping conversations level headed might do us more favors later.
“You didn’t tell me about Agent Romanoff having a different mission. Why?” He asked and Fury looked at him, a raised eyebrow before he looked behind him at me as I crossed my arms.
“I’m not in this conversation.” I said and he looked back at Steve.
“I’m not obligated to share everything with you.” He said and Steve gave a frustrated sigh.
"Those hostages could have died, Nick." He said, trying to reason with him. He turned around in his chair at Steve's words, his voice raising just a little.
"I sent the greatest soldier in history to make sure that didn't happen." He said, excusing his dishonestly at the full mission details.
"Soldiers trust each other. That's what makes it an army. Not a bunch of guys running around shooting guns." Steve retorted, he was getting a little angry and I had to hold myself back from grabbing his hand to hold.
"Last time I trusted someone, I lost an eye." He said, standing up as there was a small pause in the room. I couldn’t help smiling at that, even if he was trying to be serious. Even Steve deadpanned at him and opened his mouth to retort before I poked him. He looked at me and rolled his eyes. "Look, I didn't want you doing anything you weren't comfortable with. Agent Romanoff is comfortable with everything." He said and Steve sighed, running a hand down his face as he calmed down some.
"I can't lead a mission when the people I'm leading have missions of their own." he said, Fury looking at him with indifference.
"Its called, compartmentalization." He said, making me scoff. "Nobody spills the secrets, because nobody knows them all." He said, Steve giving a tiny scoff as he smiled disbelievingly.
"Except you." He said and Fury raised an eyebrow.
“You’re forgetting Lynette knows more than me.” He retorted as he straightened from leaning on the desk. "But you're wrong about me." He said, though Steve wasn't convinced.
"I do share. I'm nice like that." He said, and walked us through to the elevator that would lead us down to project insight.
—------------------------
I had tuned out Fury’s little rant about his father or grandfather. It wasn't important to me. I needed to see if I could learn as much about their interior as I could. I wasn't a trained soldier like Steve or Sam but I might be able to help up there when it comes to the final confrontation with Bucky. We got to the bottom and I followed quietly, trying to keep an eye out for any maps of anything, finding one near where we had stopped and I took my time. I turned back in when Fury mentioned the World Security Council, looking at him as I noted the less then places expression on Steve’s face.
“For once, we’re way ahead of the curve.” Fury said and I had to choke down the urge to cringe at him actually thinking this was a good idea.
“By holding a gun to everyone’s head and calling it protection.” Steve said to him and he looked at Steve.
“You know, I read those SSR files.” He said and I held Steve’s hand, knowing Fury was about to basically insult his past. “‘Greatest Generation’? You guys did some nasty stuff.” He said as he took a step closer to Steve.
“Yea, we compromised. Sometimes in ways that made us not sleep so well.” He said and gave my hand a slight squeeze. “But we did it so that people could be free. This isn’t freedom.” Steve said, pointing to the ships.
“This is fear.” Steve said and I nodded.
“S.H.I.E.L.D. takes the world as it is, not as we’d like it to be.” He retorted. “And it’s getting damn near past time for you to get with that program, Cap.” He said and I snorted, before they both looked at me and I covered my mouth, trying to cool the amused smile on my face at how stupid Fury can be sometimes. Steve may not always be right, but he always puts people first, which is something Fury can struggle to remember when he gets his mind set on a project, at least on the surface.
“Sorry. Ignore me.” I said, getting an odd look from Steve and an annoyed one from Fury.
“What is it?” He asked and I grinned.
“Oh, just that if memory serves me right, this is the beginning of the second Captain America movie.” I said and he raised an eyebrow. “I hope you’re ready for nothing to go as you originally planned.” I mused and he looked at me with an unreadable expression.
“Who’s the villain?” He asked and I grinned.
“The most obvious motherfucker you already know.” I said before I chuckled. “And don’t hold your breath on either of us just ‘getting with the program’, because that’s the stupidest shit ever.” I said before I pulled Steve away, who was more than glad to follow me out of there, even giving a small smile as I smiled back at him once we reached the elevator, herding inside when I looked at him.
“Smithsonium trip?” I asked and he smiled again, nodding as he squeezed my hand.
“Are you okay with that?” He asked and I chuckled, hugging his side.
“I have no issues with it.” I said before my smile softened. “We could go see Peggy afterwards if you wanted?” I offered and his smile got a little brighter, his arm going around my shoulders as he kissed my head.
“That would be really nice.” He said and I nodded, holding him close.
“I know she’s important to you.” I said, his eyes softening as he tilted my chin up.
“So are you.” He said and I felt like when I had just got here, blushing and getting butterflies from his sweet words. “I hope whatever happens in the next few days, everything goes how you want it to.” He mumbled quietly and looked into his bright blue eyes, sincerity and love full in them as I hugged him close.
“I hope so too.” I said before he put his chin on my head and we waited until the elevator doors opened, the both of us heading off to the smithsonium.
—--------------------------
Standing by Steve as we looked around the museum, the exhibit for him and his past comrades was our focus as we slowly made our way through. Steve had on some glasses and a cap as a disguise while I just had a hoodie up. I was still a secret to the world, but I also didn’t know who could be here. For all I knew, HYDRA does know of me and just hasn’t made a move yet, so I always had to be careful. We stopped at Bucky’s spot, Steve’s hand in mine as we looked at the slightly grainy photo they had of Bucky, a short video of him and Steve with it.
“He won’t be the same as I remember, will he?” He asked me quietly and I squeezed his hand.
“Are you the same man he knew?” I asked and he was quiet before I looked up at him. “Its still him, but he’s been through hell. If everything goes how it’s meant to, he will be free in the next few days. Then, it’s a long road of healing from what’s happened to him.” I said softly and he took a moment before he squeezed my hand back.
“Can I help him?” He asked and I smiled slightly.
“When he’s ready to accept help, yes.” I said, and I felt like he relaxed the slightest bit, looking at me with an unreadable expression and I looked down, getting serious for a moment before I looked up at him. “I do need you to promise one thing though.” I said and he nodded at me to continue.
“If I fail to prevent Thanos in the future, I need you to promise you won’t leave Bucky after you fix things.” I said and he furrowed his brows, clearly confused.
“Why would I-”
“Just please. You say til the end of the line, and if you mean it, then promise me you won’t leave him.” I said and he looked at me firmly, nodding.
“I promise, I won’t leave him.” He said and I took a deep breath.
“Even for Peggy?” I asked and he looked at me even more confused before he seemed to have a flash of realization on his face, he nodded firmly.
“Even for Peggy.” He said and I hugged him softly. “I’m a man of my word, and I’m not leaving my best friend just to live a good life knowing he’s in trouble the whole time. I couldn’t do it.” He said and I smiled again, his arms wrapping around me tight.
“Are you still okay if I go see her?” He asked and I looked at him like he asked something ridiculous.
“Of course. Just because I don't want you to leave Bucky for her doesn't mean I don't understand how important she is to you.” I said and he smiled, kissing my forehead.
“Just wanted to make sure.” He mused before putting his arm around me and leading me away from the Bucky exhibit. “You're my girl, and I want to make sure you know I'll put you before her if I have to. My past is important to me, but my future is more important.”

Captain's Snowflake (Steve Rogers x Reader) Part 14
Marvel Masterlist Season 1
It was the next morning and Steve had already left for the day. He wasn’t going on a mission, but he did have training, plus a mission report to fill out. I was just doing some cleaning that morning when I decided to check if I had gotten the money Tony sent yet. I nearly dropped my phone however as I looked at my account in shock. FOUR MILLION DOLLARS??? WHAT? I put my phone down and stared dumbfounded at Dan, absolutely gobsmacked that Tony willingly gave me 4 million dollars just like that.
‘Snowflake: I DIDNTKNOW YU MEANTT 4 MILION’
‘Tony The Tiger: What did u think I meant?’
‘Snowflake: 4 THOUSAND’
‘Tony The Tiger: Do u know who u r talking to?’
‘Snowflake: STILL. SIR, WTF? THANK YOU. BUT WTF?’
‘Tony The Tiger: I hope January isn’t as bad for u as u think, kid.’
I stared at his message for a while before I sighed and put my phone down. Okay. You know what? It’s fine. I totally didn’t just get 4 million dollars from Tony Stark, but let's think back to wrapping presents before I slightly lose my mind at that fact…
oh who am I kidding? this is so un fucking believable. I sat back on the couch, needing to contemplate my existence for a minute before I sighed, getting my notebook with all my plans for the future in it, knowing I now could take slightly better aid to some people. Who am I all trying to help? I need to stop Vision from dying, so I need a way to stop Thanos before he can get close to Vision, and I can't let the events set off Wanda’s grief. I want to save Hope, and help Matt. I could feel a headache already coming on and I sighed. Maybe I should just focus on Thanos then let everything else fall into place around me while using my external knowledge to help. That may be a bit less stressful, but also a more unpredictable result.
I sighed again and ran a hand through my hair. Maybe I should start looking into places outside of Hell’s Kitchen. I only have about 2 months after all. God that made me sick to think about. I truly did love Steve and it was vomit-inducing to think he was going to find out the hard truth about Bucky’s fate in only 2 months. I got out my tablet, one connected to this world as I scrolled, looking for somewhere to rent for a while. I could feel my eyes water as I thought about having to leave Steve but I just took a deep breath, knowing I got myself into this mess and I had to see it through, one way or another.
—-------------
It was New Years Eve and Tony had invited Steve and I to the tower in New York with everyone else. Thor was absent but we all still gathered, Tony making sure the music was loud and everyone had a drink in their hand but I couldn’t relax. I knew Steve could feel how I’ve been unintentionally distancing myself from him over the last few days and he was trying very hard to stay by me as long as he could. I felt horrible for making him worry, but my guilt was making me feel like everything was a counting clock. I felt like I was unable to breathe sometimes. I barely managed to get through Christmas without breaking down. Which was hard because Steve got me amazing gifts that made me want to cry too. He was too good for his own sake.
I was sat with Natasha at the bar, wearing a blue satin dress, one with a sweetheart neckline and silver small chain straps, reaching just below my mid thigh. It was a different style than my usual dresses but it was harder finding vintage styles then I thought in Washington, which wasn’t surprising since I didn’t do much shopping anyways after my first few months here. Natasha was in a red dress that of course looked stunning on her, some gold jewelry giving her a warmer look then usual as she sipped her drink.
“Any New years resolutions?” She asked and I gave a small scoff.
“Try not to turn into a complete mess this year. Especially in the next few weeks.” I said and she sighed, putting her glass down as she made me turn to her.
“Look, whatever happens, everyone knows Steve is head over heels for you. You don’t have anything to worry about.” She said and I gave a small scoff, raising my eyebrows as I took a big gulp of my drink, grimacing at the taste of alcohol as unfinished it off.
“If you thought you saw Clint die and someone hid the fact he was alive from you, would you easily forgive that person?” I asked before getting up and walking away, not bothering to wait for an answer that I already knew she couldn’t give me. Steve was in the middle of a discussion with Bruce, Tony and Clint, all of them laughing and joking around as I passed them to the balcony, giving him a small, tight smile when he looked up at me before I headed outside into the cool night air. It was winter but I didn’t care that I was freezing out there, just needing to have a few moments for myself as I leaned against the railing.
“Maybe it was a mistake getting involved here.” I said to myself softly, sighing as I looked down, watching the city below. A few minutes later I suddenly felt a jacket be placed on my shoulders, looking up to see Steve there, leaning against the railing beside me as he stayed right by my side. I looked down, feeling embarrassed considering he already knew why I was so down tonight.
“Tell me.” He said and I froze. I looked at him, his face was kind and encouraging as he looked at me, putting an arm around me as he pulled me close. “Tell me now and I swear, whatever I feel, I will not hate or blame you.” He said and I felt tears coming to my eyes, looking back down at the city. I opened my mouth but I felt like I had lost my voice, unable to form the words as Steve waited patiently beside me. I stood up straight, looking at him as he turned to me, grabbing my hands and holding them tight.
“I swear, Lynette. I love you, and I want to help carry whatever burdens you have.” He said, squeezing my hands as I looked down at them, a few tears sliding down my face when he tilted my chin up. “Whatever you tell me, I will wait for it to happen. I will wait for things to fall into place like they need to, but if this is eating you up inside, I need you to tell me. I need you to know I won’t hate you.” He said and more tears of mine fell, feeling a sob run through my chest. He pulled me close and I felt my restraint break, unable to continue holding this secret for any longer. After nearly 2 years of keeping it from him, I just couldn’t any longer. I wasn’t raised to be a liar and it killed me inside every day.
“Please, baby. Please just tell me.” He whispered, kissing my head as I cried into his chest, my hands grabbing his shirt tight.
“He’s alive.” I whimpered and felt him tilt my chin up, brushing my hair from my face as he met my watery gaze.
“Who? Who’s alive, Lynette?” He asked, his brows furrowed in confusion.
“Bucky.” I said and he froze, his eyes widening as his face paled.
“What?” He asked and I felt more tears coming.
“He’s alive.” I said, taking a step back from him as I hugged my arms close to myself. “You were supposed to find out in January. I.. I couldn’t tell you because you would have gotten yourself or him killed by going after him.” I explained, my voice getting quieter as I looked down, the cold was the last thing on my mind right now. He was quiet as he stood there, in shock which was understandable. His eyes looked at me, looking at the tears on my face, his jacket still around my shoulders and the guilt spread across every inch of me.
“I’m sorry. I’m so so sorry I kept this from you. I never meant to get so close to you or fall in love with you or hurt you and I.. I’m sorry.” I rambled, turning and quickly going to leave when he grabbed my hand, turning me around and holding me tight to him. He took a deep breath, holding me there as I braced myself for whatever he had to say.
“You swear this is the truth?” He asked, voice barely above a whisper and I gave a small nod, my arms hesitantly wrapping around him.
“Yes.” I said, and he took a deep breath, going quiet for a moment before he put his lips to my head, kissing me softly enough though I could feel the slight tremor in his arms.
“Is he safe?” He asked and I felt the lump in my throat return.
“No.” I whispered and his grip tightened as he took in another deep breath.
“Can we help him?” He asked after another moment.
“Not until he shows up himself.” I said and he let out a shaky breath, tilting my chin up before he pressed his lips to mine softly and hesitantly.
“Okay.” He said and I felt my brows furrow, looking up at him slowly.
“Don’t you hate me?” I asked and he was quiet for a moment, his eyes searching mine before they softened.
“I won’t say I’m taking this very well, but no. I do not hate you.” He said and I felt new tears in my eyes, hugging him close.
“I promise, we can get Bucky back.” I said and he held me tight, his nose burying in my neck as he took in a deep breath.
“I believe you.” He said and we stayed like that for a few moments before he let out a deep breath. “Come on, let's head inside before you get a cold.” He said and I nodded softly, following him with his hand in mine. I still felt so meek but, staring at Steve's hand in mine, still there and holding me close, I felt hope. Maybe January won't end in disaster. Just maybe.
—Steve’s POV—-
I couldn’t sleep. Lyn insisted she sleep on the couch. I think she feels guilty still for keeping this from me, but I wanted her beside me now. I couldn’t stop replaying Bucky falling from that train in my head. How long was he out in the cold? Who found him? How did he survive this long? My head was swirling as I sat on the edge of the bed, staring at nothing for the last few hours. I felt so many emotions since she told me. Guilt, joy, anxiety, grief all over again. I didn't even know if he'd be the same Bucky I remembered. I sighed before I walked out into the living room to see her.
She was asleep but her face was anything but peaceful, her brows furrowed, lips pulled into an uncomfortable line. I sighed and walked over, the tv was still quietly playing and I turned it off, picking her up gently as I brought her to the bed with me. I had to believe she knew what she was doing with what she can and can't tell me, but god, a part of me wished I had never made her tell me. I love her, but… Who knows what Bucky has gone through by now? I know I was in ice for years but he was alive. Awake. Does he even remember me? Does he know I’m alive? Fuck, I had so many questions. I pulled Lyn closer, burying my nose in her hair. She stirred slightly, giving a small hum, her arms slowly wrapping around me, her lips subconsciously kissing my collar as she curled into me.
I tried to put my thoughts to rest, taking a few deep breaths of Lynn's lilac shampoo to calm myself as I closed my eyes. It was only the second day of January. I had to be prepared for anything until Bucky did show up. I had to hope things go how Lyn believes it will.
—Lynettes POV—
This was the mission. This was the start of it all. I was anxious as I sat in the helicopter where Steve and Natasha would board the luminar star and start this whole event. My leg wouldn't stop bouncing, only pausing when Steve came over and kneeled down in front of me.
“Why so nervous? This isn't a really dangerous mission.” He asked and I gave a light scoff.
“Says the super soldier with a vibranium shield and years of training. I have and am none of those things, so I'd argue all missions are dangerous.” I said, trying to deflect his question and he smiled slightly, giving a small chuckle as he put a hand on my thigh.
“True, but I'm always fine, aren't I? You know how much I can handle.” He said and I blushed, looking down as I chuckled slightly, going quiet for a moment.
“This mission will be important later.” I said quietly and his expression softened, taking my hand in his.
“Then I'll do everything exactly as I'm supposed to.” He said, leaning up to kiss me softly before giving me a smile as he stood.
“Just tell Nat to not get you blown up, please.” I said and he looked at me with furrowed brows. “She has a momentary distraction.” I said and he chuckled, kissing my head before I stood up and hugged him tight.
“I love you.” I said softly and he gives me a small squeeze back.
“I love you too.” He whispered to me, smiling as he kissed my lips again before Rumlow called him over for the briefing. I was quiet the whole time, but I couldn't hide the dislike on my face enough as I stared, mainly at Rumlow before looking at Steve, my eyes softening and he raised an eyebrow to me. I shook my head, figuring he'd get why I didn't like him very quickly after the next 2-3 days. I walked over to Steve after then all dispersed from the briefing. Him and Natasha talking a bit before he turned to me, smiling before he gave me a curious look.
“Care to tell me why you were glaring a hole in the side of Rumlow's head?” He asked, Natasha raising an eyebrow at me as I sighed, glancing around but everyone else appeared to be minding their own business getting ready.
“You'll find out soon enough why I don't like him. I don't like this squad.” I muttered, just loud enough for him to hear and he furrowed his brows, tilting my chin up.
“Are they a danger to us?” He asked and I sighed, looking down. I didn't want to say too much, but I didn't want to lie. He sensed my hesitation and tilted my chin up, giving me a reassuring look. “Hey, it's okay.” he hummed and I took in a deep breath, letting it out through my nose as he took my hand, kissing it softly.
“The mission will go fine, just be ready for when Natasha misses her rendezvous point.” I said and he furrowed his brows, looking concerned before I gave a small smile. “It will be fine. I promise.” I assured him and he sighed, giving a small smile as he nodded.
“I trust you.” He said and I felt my eyes water a little before I closed them for a moment then hugged him.
“I love you. Please be careful.” I said and he hugged me tight, kissing the side of my head.
“I love you too.” He muttered before letting go of me, Natasha coming over finally, ready to go.
“We’re just about over our drop point. You ready?” She asked and Steve nodded, his fear already good to go as he grabbed his shield.
“I've been ready for 70 years.” He said, giving me a small smile which I returned, before he jumped out of the plane moments later.
“Did he have a parachute?” Rumlow asked and I grinned, Natasha smirking.
“Nope.” She and I said in sync, her looking at me as I grinned before putting a hand on her shoulder.
“Don't get my boyfriend blown up, please.” I said and she chuckled.
“Why would I blow him up? Blowing him is your job.” She joked and I chuckled slightly before sighing.
“You know, I just realized I'm going to be asking you to not get him blown up more then I'd like.” I said and she furrowed her brows, a small grin on her face.
“Am I really that bad?” She asked, heading to the door as I shrugged.
“Nope, but it is kind of funny how many times it happens.” I said before she shook her head, her and the rest of the team all took off, leaving me there to just.. wait. God I was going to be waiting a lot, won't I?

"And here are your bonding rings." The woman at the front counter of the New York jeweler said with a rushed smile as more couples poured into the store. Unlike their time in Ohio, it had been a long wait with a long line behind them.
"Thank you." Steve said, scooping up the singular ring box that would contain all four of their rings. "Have a nice day." He took Ellies' hand with his own and the four of them left the store.
"That didn't need to be so intense." Tony huffed angrily as they stepped outside into the bitterly cold air. He glanced at Bucky who had become rigid during the bonding questions and fidgety as more people had come into the store, nearly becoming a nervous wreck. Tony took Bucky's hand now, careful to make sure it was the flesh one as Bucky would probably panic if he touched his metal one.
Bucky squeezed Tonys' hand but otherwise didn't say anything.
"Where do you think Wanda and Vision are?" Ellie asked, looking around. The couple had offered to watch Selene and Dimitri while they did this process.
"Starbucks." Tony answered immediately. "Apparently they just got their drinks."
Bucky regained some of his humor, snorting, "That overpriced place? Jeez there are plenty of other places that make coffee you know."
Tony shrugged, "People like their name brand stuff."
"They have good cake pops." Ellie said in their defense, and then paused, "Although for their price, I think I like mine better."
"I like anything of yours better." Tony reassured her, kissing the top of her head. Steve chuckled and Bucky smiled as they crossed the road to the large corner brand name coffee shop. They could just see Vision's tall frame as he stood at a high table, speaking to Dimitri as he had sat him up there. Wanda was sitting at a table with Selene, clearly waiting for drinks, the little girl colouring.
"That's better." Ellie sighed as they stepped into the place, still shivering. Tony wrapped his arms around her.
"You want to get a hot chocolate here?" Steve asked them while Wanda waved to them and Selene giggled, pointing and tossing her crayon down.
"No, that's okay." Ellie said, "We've got hot chocolate at home. It won't cost money and plus, look how long the line is."
These were both true facts. The line would've been out the door, except no one wanted to wait in the cold so everyone was bunching up in groups, squeezed together. Vision had only just gotten their drinks, handing Wanda a Venti Toasted White Chocolate Mocha. He himself had gotten a Grande London Fog Tea Latte.
"Aww you guys are heading out so soon?" Wanda pouted a little, sipping her drink. Selene had jumped into Bucky's arms, clinging to him originally to babble about her drawing, but was now fast asleep against his shoulder. "Alright well Ellie, us girls have to get together to talk over the bonding ceremony."
Ellie smiled brightly. "Oh we will, don't worry. I was texting Nat about it earlier and we were thinking maybe this Saturday?"
"Works for me." Wanda exclaimed.
"I thought we-" Vision started and Wanda shushed him.
Ellie giggled and said, "If you two have something-"
"No no." Wanda giggled and Vision smiled lovingly at the teasing, indulging it. "Absolutely nothing important that can't be moved to Friday or Sunday."
Ellie shook her head and shot Vision an apologetic look which he waved off. "Saturday then. I'll kick the boys out so we'll have the house to ourselves."
"Hey!" Steve and Tony complained at the same time while Steve moved Dimitri to his other shoulder as he took him from Vision.
Ellie shushed them and hugged Wanda and then led the way out of the Starbucks, immediately regretting it as the cold wind whipped around them. Dimitri started to cry.
"Awww it's okay baby." Steve said gently, tucking a scarf more around his face, while trying not to cover his mouth or nose. "We'll be in the car soon."
'Soon' felt like forever to Ellie and Tony, and even Steve and Bucky felt it more than usual. It had been a bitterly cold winter. Thankfully, unlike with Steve and Ellie's original bonding, this bonding would be indoors and very warm.
At home, Ellie poured chocolate milk into a pan to heat it up, pouring it into cups and topping it with whip cream. They sat down and watched a movie while Selene and Dimitri slept through it, tightly bundled up in warm blankets near the fire in playpens.
"I can't wait to be bonded with you." Bucky suddenly said, kissing Tonys' shoulder, squeezing Ellie's hand and reached over to touch Steves' knee. "All of you. Steve, it feels like such a long time coming. I can't wait to make it official. Ellie, you are such a beacon of light in my life and I can't wait to make it permanent. And Tony. . . you make me feel safe. Not just... physically. But emotionally. Like I can just be who I am, and that's enough for you. You've helped me see myself in a way I never thought I could again. And I just... I want this. I want us, forever."
Tony blinked back tears, to choked to respond, even with a witty comment. Steve reached out, clasping Bucky's hand over his knee, his thumb rubbing soothing circles into the back of it. "You've always been enough, Buck," Steve said quietly and earnestly. "We love you."
"I love all of you." Ellie whispered quietly, leaning closer to Bucky.
"I can't wait for forever too." Tony finally said, placing his head on Bucky's shoulder. "Forever sounds nice."

". . . Journey of choice and discovery, of shared laughter, dreams, and quiet mornings. May you always remember that the bond you forge today is one that grows stronger with time, with care, and with trust. Are you prepared, Steven, Anthony, James, and Ellie, to step into this union with open hearts, mutual respect, and the courage to explore this path as partners and soulmates?"
"I do." The four of them said together, although the three men shot Ellie a quick look, hearing a bite of annoyance in her tone that worried them all.
"Then let us proceed, with joy, humility, and hope, as we celebrate the beginning of this sacred journey. May your paths always lead you back to each other." The bonding commencer exclaimed and their friends and family cheered and clapped and they smiled at each other, though the other three looked deeply into Ellie's eyes, though they saw nothing wrong there.
As they led the party into the larger room that held the food, drink, and dance, Steve leaned in quickly. "Honey. . . is something wrong?"
"What?" Ellie asked, confused, looking at them now in concern.
"I mean during the bonding ceremony." Steve clarified. "You seemed. . . hmm annoyed?"
"Oh." Ellie blushed. "Well it was the same exact speech that was given at our first ceremony. Word for word. I thought maybe they personalized the speeches a bit but it doesn't seem like it. I was annoyed that there wasn't. . . wasn't more personal in it. It seemed unfair."
"I see." Bucky said softly, unable to keep a smile off of his face. He was blushing as the center of attention, partly humbled and partly tense. "But that's okay doll. We have our vows we can say to each other."
"Or do to each other." Tony promised lightly, pulling her into him, squeezing her hips lightly. "You should hear all the things Bucky's done to prep me for tonight."
Ellie turned red, Bucky grinned, and Steve sighed. "Anthony Rogers-Barnes there will be no dirty talk until the honeymoon, you hear me?"
Tony made a face at Steve, "You just like saying my full name now because your last name is attached to it."
"True." Steve grinned and pulled Tony after him to open up the first dance.
"Shall we doll?" Bucky held out his metal hand and she took it easily, letting him lead her out onto the dance floor.
"You dance so well." Ellie sighed happily, even perhaps a little jealous. Bucky moved fluidly over the dance floor, pulling her with him. She was glad she had just enough skill to keep up, though she certainly would've tripped had Bucky not moved closer to her in some parts, changing the way he held her.
"I've had a lot of practice doll." Bucky grinned, spinning into a slow dance, pulling her even closer. "You should be more impressed with Steve's dancing. He tripped all the time when we were younger."
Ellie giggled, resting her head against Bucky's shoulder.
Dances were rotated and while Steve danced with Wanda, Bucky danced with Clint, and Tony danced with Loki, Ellie danced with Sam.
Ellie was resting her head against his shoulder as they danced slowly, slower than the other couples on the floor.
"Tired?" Sam asked with a smile, looking down at her. Natasha flung her head back, laughing as Steve spun her. Loki grinned as he dipped Tony who turned red.
"A little." Ellie smiled and laughed quietly. They danced in silence for a while until she whispered. "I love you so much Sam. Thank you so much for being here for all of us."
Sam squeezed her tighter, the two of them revolving in one spot. Loki met Sams' eyes and smiled a little, slowing his own dance with Tony down. "I love you too sugar. I am so happy you reached out to a stranger in the grocery store that day. You've made my life a dream."
Ellie cried a little and Sam chuckled, hugging her tightly. "Don't cry hunny, it's your wedding."
"But that was so sweet." She cried and Sam laughed now, pulling her off the dance floor and comforting her.
"She okay?" Bucky asked, coming over after a few minutes when he noticed she was crying.
"Overwhelmed I think." Sam admitted, rubbing Ellies' back. "We were saying how much we loved each other and how thankful we are for each other. I told her how much I loved that she reached out to me and drew me into the family." Ellie sobbed again, confirming Sams' thought that she was overwhelmed. "Anyways, a little overwhelmed I think with emotions. You want to go with Bucky now hunny?"
Ellie nodded, pulling back from Sam, smiling though her eyes were red. "Sorry Sam."
"Nothing to apologize for. It happens to all of us. Just get some water and take a breather." Sam kissed her forehead and Bucky took it from there, leading her outside. It was colder and he put his jacket around her. Vision came out with a glass of water and then headed back inside.
Ellie rested against Bucky for a while, pulling herself together. "Sorry." She apologized again.
"Like Sam said, nothing to apologize for." Bucky said quietly, stroking her arm lightly with warm fingers. "Remember how Steve had his own attack at the zoo in the summer? Things happen. You don't have to be sorry." He wrapped his arms around her. Her lovely white dress pooled around her ankles, showing off her sparkly heels.
She closed her eyes and ended up falling asleep so Bucky carried her back inside, laying her on the couch and staying with her. Steve and Tony ended up searching for them and Bucky explained everything.
"Love?" Tony questioned, insecure for a moment.
"Not like that." Steve said quietly. "Familial, I'm sure. I quite love our friends too. Ellie just expresses it loudly. I am not surprised she got a little overwhelmed. Did she get water Buck?"
"Yes, two glasses." Bucky replied. "I think she's just worn out. She didn't sleep well last night either. I could hear her tossing and turning in the other room and also Dimitri kept her up some. But of course since we weren't allowed to see her before. . ."
"Yeah." Steve smiled, bending down so he could kiss her cheek. "Maybe we should call it early?"
"What about the honeymoon plans?" Tony asked, already reaching for his phone. "If you give me the information, I'm sure I can get the tickets-"
"No worries about the tickets sweetheart." Steve said to Tony with a bit of a wicked smile. Steve was the only one in charge of the honeymoon which had irked the hell out of Tony, not knowing where they were going, and also not being able to spend the money on it. But Steve had compromised and said if Tony really wanted, he could pay for whatever when they got to the destination.
Ellie stirred, coming around. "Oh!" She gasped, sitting up. "How long have I been asleep? Oh no we left our guests!" She staggered to her feet and Steve caught her gently by the shoulders.
"Take it easy honey, you've only been out for twenty or thirty minutes. Everyone's still partying."
Ellie relaxed, but insisted that she wanted to go back. She took Dimitri from Rhodey with a smile and settled down at one of the tables, sitting near Loki who was trying to make sure Selene didn't eat to many Buckeyes.
Steve took Sam for a spin on the dance floor. "I overheard Tony." Sam admitted, "I hope you know that the love between Ellie and I is not romantic."
"I know that Sam." Steve smiled. "I never thought it was. I think it would be hard put to find someone in this room that doesn't love Ellie."
Sam grinned at that. "Very true." he was quiet for a moment as Steve spun him and then said, "There have been times, I admit, where we- Loki and I, and even Stephen once or twice- have wished she was our wife." Steve wasn't surprised and said nothing, "But not ever in a way that means disrespect to you guys of course. She is just lovely Steve, inside and out. You three are very lucky men."
"I know." Steve smiled, feeling that pride and love in his heart. He pulled Sam a little closer.
"So take care of her." Sam murmured quietly, putting his heart out there. "Because everyone here does love her. And you three need to treasure her and love her and protect her like you've never loved, treasured, or protected anything else. Because I don't know what the rest of us will do if we lose her."
"We will Sam." Steve swore. "You know we will." He met Lokis' eyes over Sams' shoulder, the God of mischief holding Selene and talking to Ellie who was smiling again. Ellie's parents were sitting at the table with grandparents and brothers and siblings, looking at Ellie with a smile and tears and love. Friends and family all together for her. And Steve wouldn't forget it.
。 ★ • * 。.
"They'll take care of them, don't worry." Steve reassured Bucky one more time as Ellie and them were saying good-bye to Selene and Dimitri who would be going back with Ellies' parents. They would be staying in New York, at their house, so that Loki and Sam were nearby as neighbors.
None of the four of them felt amazing about being away from their children and Steve was already predicting that this honeymoon would be shorter from the first. But they also knew that her parents needed time with the children and knew they would be good for them.
"So where are we going?" Ellie asked after all the good-byes were said, her parents pulling away slowly with both babies fast asleep in car seats. Bucky shot the car one more anxious look before putting his arm over Tonys' shoulder, kissing the side of his head. The billionaire looked up at him lovingly.
"That depends." Steve said, pulling out a large circular piece that one could've called a coin except it was painted. One side was a swirl of white and red. The other was olive green and pink.
"What's that for?" Ellie asked curiously, reaching for it, but Steve kept it out of her hands.
"This is deciding our honeymoon destination." Steve replied, peaking all of their interest. "One." He held up the white and red, "stands for a sweet honeymoon. All love and sweetness and sugar."
Ellie tipped her head to one side, confused, as she wouldn't understand why the other honeymoon wouldn't have those things. Bucky was also a little confused, but was sure Steve had a point. Tony however was pretty sure he'd caught on.
"The other," Steve flipped the coin. "Has all of those things, but darker."
"Huh?" Ellie scrunched her nose in confusion. "I don't understand."
Steve smiled at her innocence while Tony chuckled, having been right (or at least he thought) and Bucky grasping it.
"BDSM?" Tony flat out asked behind Ellie, who looked at him in surprise.
"I do have a special place in mind for such a thing." Steve said, meaningfully rubbing the surface of the coin.
Ellie bit her bottom lip in desire, torn. "So. . . this option has both right? Cause I would like both dark and love."
"Both, hun, I promise." Steve said, dropping his persona to reassure her. "And regardless, if you don't like something," He looked up at the other two, "If any of us don't like something, it stops. No pressure."
"Then I would like this one." Ellie said eagerly, having wanted to try some of the stuff that came with such a kink, but also always being a little nervous. It sounded like fun. "If that's what everyone wants."
Tony snorted, "I've had plugs shoved up my ass every day for months." Ellie turned red, looking around though there was no one to overhear him. "Let's not let all my prep go to waste." Bucky smirked, slapping his ass, making the billionaire jump and yelp.
Ellie's mouth dropped and she whispered, "Are you wearing one now?"
Bucky chuckled darkly, knowing full well which one Tony was wearing and Tony went pink.
"Alright, c'mon, we don't want to miss the flight." Steve chuckled, opening the door to the car that was pulling up just now. They all filed into the car, snuggling up with each other in the back seats, while the car pulled off into the night.

"She shoots fire now?" Tony asked, astounded over the phone while he signed a contract a workman showed him. "You're kidding right?"
"Afraid not." Ellie said on the other side of the line, biting her bottom lip. "Loki designed some fire proof clothes for her, but it won't matter to much if she can't control it."
"So the God is now a baby designer? What's next- Loki by Fisher-Price, featuring enchanted binkies and a line of toddler armor? Does it come with mood swings and dramatic lighting, or is that sold separately?" Tony chuckled, walking out the door to get to his car and drive to their house now.
Ellie giggled, stirring the tomato sauce in the pan as it started to boil. "You don't have an allergies do you?"
"Nope." Tony said, putting his phone on speaker so he could put his key into the car ignition. "What are you making darling?"
"Homemade pizzas. Thought I'd try something different." Ellie said. "I'm making a vegetarian one for Bruce. Nat will probably have some of it too. Then a simple pepperoni one for Stephen and the others. I'm making myself banana peppers, black olives, salami, and pepperoni. You want anything in particular?"
"I'm all good with any of those options." Tony responded, pulling out of the Compound driveway. "Is Barnes going to be there?"
"Steve and him are in Romania right now, collecting whatever he needs to bring from his apartment." Ellie said, sounding a little troubled. "They won't be here for dinner tonight, but they should be back Monday night or Tuesday morning."
Tony felt that slight disappointment, wanting to meet his third soulmate. Instead, he simply said, "You don't mind if I stay later tonight, do you?"
"No, not at all!" Ellie said excitedly, then asked, "I don't suppose I could trouble you to run to the grocery store before you get here and pick up ice-cream? If you like ice-cream that is?"
Tony snorted, "Darling I'll buy all the ice-cream you want. What flavor?"
"Um, if we could do cookies n' cream, cookie dough, mint chocolate chip, cherry cordial, and um, there's a particular brand called Tillamook which is called 'mudslide?'" Ellie asked. "I know that's a lot but I don't have any dessert planned for tonight. And we can make sundaes later while we watch a movie."
"Gladly, I'll be there in maybe forty, alright?" Tony asked.
"That's sounds great." She beamed. "The pizzas are supposed to be done in forty-five if I time them right anyways. Hmm," She said almost to herself, "I wonder if I could try making stuffed crust."
Tony laughed and then said, "Alright well I'll see you soon. Love you."
"Love you too! See you when you get here." She sang, hanging up.

Ellie had just put the pizzas out on the table with Sams' help, when Clint and Natasha came into the room. To her surprise, Lila was with them.
"Hi guys." She said, wiping her hands on the apron while Sam waved. "Where's Bruce?"
Natasha hugged her arms across her chest and Lila hugged her mom.
"What happened?" Ellie asked, mouth going dry.
"We don't know where he is." Clint sighed. "We haven't seen him since. . . Ultron. Fury uh said the tracker was found in the middle of the ocean but that doesn't help any."
"I'm so sorry." Ellie said softly, glancing at the Vegetarian pizza that was meant for him.
"We're dealing." Clint nodded, and then changed the conversation, "by the way, we invited the newbies."
"The newbies?" Ellie questioned.
"Wanda, Vision, and Rhodey." Sam offered. "Steve said when he gets back from Romania we're starting a training program so add more Avengers."
"How does Loki feel about that?" Ellie asked in surprise. "And Stephen."
"I understand it. Stephen thinks it's nonsensical danger." Loki said from behind, walking in with a box in his hand. He paused, seeing Lila. "I see we've got another Princess among us." Lila giggled and Loki winked at her. "Here Ellie, I picked this up. I know you said Stark was getting ice-cream but-" Loki shrugged.
"Thank you I'll put this in the fridge." Ellie said, taking the box from him, hurrying back to the kitchen to put the small cake in the fridge.
"You said new people are coming?" Loki asked Clint with a frown, watching Sam set the plates down, counting them to see if there was enough.
"Yeah, good people, you don't have to worry." Clint clapped Lokis' shoulder. "Lila how about you go see if Auntie Ellie needs any help?"
"Okay!" Lila hurried into the kitchen. Natasha looked around and asked softly, "Where's Selene?"
"Sleeping." Ellie said, coming back into the room with a pizza cutter and a pitcher of Shirley Temple with several dozens cherries in it. Lila followed, carrying another pitcher that was light yellow.
"I heard she's got a fire problem?" Clint asked.
"We're not certain, but we think maybe she imbued it in her body when Ellie was injected with the fire serum." Loki replied. "It's not foolproof, but considering neither she nor Steve has any genes that should give her that, it's our best guess."
"It could be a mutant gene, could it not?" Natasha asked.
"I don't know what that is." Loki admitted. "I'll read up on it."
There was a knock at the door. "COME IN!" Ellie shouted.
"You shouldn't do that." Loki scolded her lightly. "What if it wasn't a visitor? It could be a salesman."
"Well we have enough food." Ellie shrugged. "And should I really fear someone if you all are here?'
The door opened and Rhodey walked in first, waving to the others. Wanda followed, more cautiously, especially since she'd never met some of the people, but smiled. Vision followed after he closed the door behind him.
"Um, hi." Wanda said shyly while Rhodey and Clint shook hands again.
"Hi! Welcome!" Ellie said, delighted. "It's very nice to meet you. I'm Ellie Rogers!" She danced forwards, embracing Wanda tightly. "You're very beautiful- Oh! Do you have any allergies I need to look out for from now on?"
Wanda looked a little taken aback by the welcome, but she relaxed a little. "No allergies, but religiously I don't eat most meats."
"That's okay! I actually made a vegetarian pizza already so hopefully it's to your liking." Ellie said and looked over at Clint. "Are they in the group chat yet?"
Clint grinned, "I'll add them later."
"Great! You'll be able to add dishes that you like to the list." Ellie beamed. The stove dinged somewhere in the back. "Oh I'll be right back!"
"She's a lot." Wanda laughed nervously.
"That's Ellie." Natasha smiled a little.
Loki was guarding Wanda with a scrutinizing eye, which she noted, tensing up. "Loki don't cause problems." Sam said, putting his hand on Lokis' shoulder.
"You're imbued with infinity stones." Loki said, his eyes moving from Wanda to Vision. "And you're. . ."
"Thor kind've did it. And Tony." Clint said, a little nervous. "The mind stone like powers Vision basically."
"And the stone from your staff gave me my powers." Wanda finalized, her tone a little icy.
"It's not my staff." Loki said shortly and then grinned, "It was about time some magical potential joined this group anyways."
Stephen opened up the door, leaving it open as Tony followed.
"Hi." Stephen said, kissing Lokis' cheek, then Sams'.
"I thought you weren't making tonight?" Sam asked in surprise, kissing Stephen back while Tony stood in the living room for a moment, bags in his hands.
"Hospital let me off early." Stephen said. Loki rolled his eyes behind his back.
"Oh thank you Tony!" Ellie said, dashing over and taking the bags from him, kissing him on the cheek. "Dinners ready guys." She hurried back to the kitchens to put the ice-cream away.
Ellie was missing both Steve and Bucky, but she was very glad for the one-on-one time with Tony. Wanda relaxed and everyone made jokes. She loved that the family was growing, though she missed Bruce as well and Loki was not in the best of moods anytime Stephen spoke. Sam was quiet as well.
Ellie hugged everyone good-bye, told Wanda and the other new ones that she hoped they came back next Saturday, kissed Lilas' forehead and then closed the door, ready to get started on the dishes.
Tony however, had other plans.
"No dishes tonight, we'll do those in the morning." He said, wrapping his arms around her waist, kissing the side of her neck. "I think you promised me a date night?"
She giggled, melting in his arms. "What do you want to watch?"
"I'll pick that out if you want to make the ice-cream sundaes?" Tony asked.
She nodded and made them in the kitchen, bringing them out. Tony had put on Death on the Nile, which Ellie had never seen before. Selene was sleeping soundly in her crib, and so they started their date night.
They finished their ice-cream and snuggled. Tony held back his laughter while Ellie cried when Bouc died, and wished firmly at the end that Poirot would marry Salome Otterbourne.
"Sorry for picking a movie that made you cry." Tony teased, picking up the bowls to put in the sink.
"It's okay." She smiled, still patting her eyes dry. "I cry at like every Disney Movie imaginable. And don't even get me started on Fruits Basket."
"You mind if I stay the night?" Tony asked casually as he came back from the kitchen.
"No, of course not." Ellie smiled. "You can wear one of Steve's shirts to bed if you want."
"You think he'd be good with that?" Tony asked.
"If it bothers him, he'll rip it off of you." She commented offhandedly, turning the downstairs lights off. Zeus trotted out from wherever he'd been, tail wagging. Ellie patted him and kissed his head, filling up his water and food bowls before coming up the stairs.
"Here." Ellie said, handing him one of Steve's large T-shirts. It made Tony feel ridiculously small, despite only being a few inches shorter than the super soldier. It also had Jurassic park memorabilia all over it.
"I feel like maybe you bought this shirt for him darling."
"I did." Ellie grinned, coming out of the bathroom, her toothbrush sticking out of her mouth. She was wearing a lovely pink nightgown that was modest and sexy at the same time, with some sort of stitching at the waist.
Tony shrugged, "Tell Rogers if he wants it back, he can come peel it off me himself. Preferably while I'm asleep and looking devastatingly handsome." Ellie disappeared back into the bathroom, laughing, coming back in, popping a plastic retainer to connect to her top teeth.
She turned out the light and had just climbed into bed with him, when the door opened. Tony half-froze, wondering if Steve was coming to bring his words to reality. But he didn't even see anyone in the doorway.
It wasn't until Ellie rolled over, lifting Selene up into bed with them that he realized who'd come intruding.
"You don't mind?" Ellie asked sleepily. "She gets clingy when Steve isn't home. And she just about burned Loki to a crisp when she realized Bucky was leaving for a few days."
"I don't mind, come here sweetheart." Tony said, taking the baby from Ellie, lifting her above his head. "Hello pretty baby." He lowered her, blowing kisses and bubbles against her cheek, making her squeal and laugh.
Ellie smiled, drifting off to sleep, her smile fading into a look of peace. Tony stayed up with Selene until the little girl started to get sleepy too, tucking her between him and her mother. She curled up against his warmth and he pulled the blankets over them lightly, moving her further up closer to his chest. And then he fell asleep around her.

Tonys' eyes flickered at the low murmur of a voice.
"-looks like you were a bad girl." Steves' voice was low, full of humor and Tony heard Ellie let out a mixed noise like a giggle and a moan. He could hear sexy kisses on skin and Tony opened on eye, seeing the blond super soldier over Ellie. Her wrists in one of his large hands, pinned above her head while Steve teased the tender flesh of her neck with his lips, nipping with his perfect white teeth.
Tony closed his eye again, feel warm and- ah right- hard too.
"I don't think I can let you alone again if you start bringing people into bed." Steve was still teasing. "What ever shall I do with you."
"Food?" Ellie panted out, teasing right back.
"I am hungry." Steve fucking purred. Tonys' dick jumped against his boxers. What the actual fuck? "To bad we've got some intrusion."
"Carry on," Tony murmured, opening both eyes again, "I don't mind much."
Steve chuckled, pecking Ellies' lips, letting go of her wrists, turning soft again. Steve looked at Tony with a twinkle in his eye. "I was talking about Selene, Stark."
Tony looked down to find Selene was stirring as well, opening her little mouth into a yawn, flinging all four of her limbs out adorably. "Mor-ing Dada." She giggled, sitting up and spotted Steve. "Dada Moon!"
Ellie looked frustrated as Steve reached over, taking Selene out of the bed. "Good morning baby." He sang, leaving the room and called over his shoulder he'd make breakfast. Ellie groaned, throwing herself back under the covers.
Tony laughed, swinging out of bed and stretching. He wasn't usually much of a morning person, but if all his mornings were like this, maybe he could get used to it. He paused a moment later, sensing a growing warmth and looked over his shoulder.
Bucky was hesitating in the doorway, looking like a hunk of God. Tony would've believed him if he claimed to be from Asgard too or somewhere magical like that. Not that Steve or Ellie weren't as beautiful, but there was something about Bucky's jawline and matching hair that made Tonys' heart jump out of his chest.
Bucky scratched the back of his head uncertainly. "Um, hi."
Ellie peeked up at the sound of his voice. "Bucky!"
"Hey doll." He said softly as she hopped out of bed, running over to hug him. He froze a little, before carefully hugging her back. "I heard Steve say you were being bad."
Ellie pouted again, "This is a very unfair and untrue statement that I will be very sad about until he retracts it."
Bucky smiled a little, then looked over at Tony, who had walked a few steps closer. "So you're my last soulmate?"
"Yeah." Tony nodded, holding his hand out and waited with bated breath. Ellie let go, fleeing down the stairs so the two men could have their own, private moment.
"You sure?" Bucky murmured, taking a step forwards, looking at the hand uncertainly. "I've. . . well I've done a lot of shit and I can't even remember all of it."
"Then we'll work it out together. All of us. The parts you remember and the parts you don't. And we'll work it out as you remember. No judgement." Tony promised, making a vow that no matter what Bucky revealed he'd come at it with the understanding that it wasn't Bucky. It was H.Y.D.R.A. It was brainwashing to an even higher degree than Lokis'.
"Okay." Bucky said quietly, touching Tonys' hand. He took a deep breath. "Want to join them for breakfast then?"
"It'll be my first." Tony admitted. "I'm sure Cap filled you in on our whole past?"
"Some." Bucky nodded once as they headed down the stairs. "But I don't blame you for wanting to stay where you felt safe. I've run from them too. But it's where I belong. . . even if I don't always feel like it."
"I've also heard if you try leaving Selene burns the house down." Tony laughed, teasing.
Bucky smiled a little. "She does make a uh, compelling argument."
They entered the kitchen to find Selene eating bananas in a high chair and Steve smacking Ellies' butt with the spatula as she got in his way. She yelped, jumping, "Steve!"
"What?" Steve deadpanned before flashing her a devilish grin. "This is my time to shine in the kitchen hun. Get out."
"Dada Star!" Selene giggled, waving her large chunk of banana. "Nananananana"
"I think that's one to many 'nanas' honey." Bucky said, sitting down next to her, pulling out a knife and cutting her banana up into smaller pieces. She clapped her hands with delight, shoving more mushy pieces into her mouth.
"Make sure she doesn't choke Buck." Steve said over his shoulder. "She doesn't like to chew for some reason."
Tony snorted, "Sounds like the little firecracker." He looked between Steve and Bucky, "'Dada Moon' and 'Dada Star' huh? What do you call Mama?"
"Just Mama." Ellie laughed, pulling plum out of the fridge to cut up too. "We've got bets on your nickname. But we can't say them cause she might copy."
"Fair enough." Tony smiled at the thought of even getting a nickname. Dada Supernova was probably to big of an ask though. As cool as it sounded. "Do any of the others have nicknames?"
"Sometimes Loki gets called Uncle Dragon." Steve nodded, "Or well a chopped variation of those words. I think he's the only one though. She likes his magic so hes' her favorite. Sam pouts about it constantly. Oh, Ellie, I heard we had new people at Saturday dinner?"
"Oh yeah." Ellie said, "I'm sorry, I thought I told you. Um, Wanda, Vision, and Rhodey. Oh and Lila came with Clint and Nat."
"Really?" Steve asked in surprise, glancing at Tony.
"Yeah." Tony backed it up. "I guess I was surprised about Lila, but I'd told Rhodey and Clint invited Wanda. I guess we're making Saturday nights very Avenger oriented. Except Loki and uh, the doctor wasn't there but they're married to a doctor."
"Stephen, yeah." Ellie nodded, looking a little upset. "Their relationship isn't going very well. I hope it gets better, I don't know what they'll do if Loki and Sam don't come clean about why they're upset."
Bucky was quiet and Ellie looked at him, "Hey Bucky? As excited as I am for you to meet the rest of the, so called family, would you rather meet them in small chunks? Maybe have each soulmate couple over instead of meeting all of them at the same time? They would all understand."
Bucky tapped his fingers against the table anxiously. Ellie slid over a bowl of plum. "Bribery." Bucky grunted, but popped the sliced fruit in his mouth. Tony thought he was counting how much was in the bowl, though he wasn't sure why.
"I think I could handle it all at once." Bucky said slowly. "They're all 'family friends' right? I've already met Loki and Stephen. They'll probably show up at intervals of time. As long as I don't sit next to anyone new at dinner, I should be fine."
"You can sit between Selene and I." Steve smiled. "That way you can feed her. Well as long as Nat doesn't fight you for that job."
"Nat likes the kid huh?" Tony asked, not surprised.
"Everyone does." Ellie said in a loving, gushing voice as she looked at Selene. Tony could sense that this reassured Ellie greatly.
Steve put the plates down soon. His and Bucky's were stacked with pancakes, sausage links, bacon, eggs, and a couple pieces of toast. Ellie had a single pancake, eight sausage links, two pieces of bacon, one hard boiled egg, and two pieces of toast that were covered greatly in grape jelly.
"Anything you don't like Tony?" Steve asked lightly.
"I'll eat anything Cap." Tony drawled. He got three pancakes, four sausage links, three pieces of bacon, whatever was left of scrambled eggs and two pieces of toast.
"We have a bunch of different jams in the fridge, help yourself to whatever." Steve said while Ellie bit into her jam toast. Bucky was staring at his plate, twirling his fork in his hand. Ellie passed the maple syrup down to Steve.
Tony got the raspberry jam, smearing it on his toast. Steve had dug into his food and Tony was pretty sure the big guy was going to get seconds after that.
"Oh." Ellie hopped up, hurrying to the fridge, grabbing whipped cream.
Steve sighed, smiling a little, "You know I specifically didn't get that out hoping you wouldn't have a sugar crisis today."
Ellie stuck her tongue at him, coating her pancake in maple syrup, topping it with whipped cream. "To bad. So sad."
Tony grinned, "She's kind've a brat isn't she?"
"You have no idea." Steve's eyes glinted, but he calmly wiped Selenes' mouth with a napkin. Then he caught sight of the fact that Bucky hadn't touched his plate. "Buck? Are you okay? If you don't like your eggs that way anymore I can fix them a different way."
Bucky looked at Steve with wary eyes. "No. . . it's fine. Just. . . a lot."
Steve looked confused and Ellie stepped in. "Bucky, you only have to eat what you want. You don't have to finish it, you don't even have to eat half if you don't want to. Whatever you don't finish we'll just put in the fridge as leftovers. You're not. . ." She hesitated and said even quieter, "You're not going to get punished for eating it if you want."
It was just between the two of them and Tony felt anger stir in his gut. Of course they had used food against him. That was one of the best ways to train someone. You needed food to live. H.Y.D.R.A. was sickening.
Bucky did finally start to eat and as the conversation went on, he almost seemed to forget, eating more than half, before finally putting his fork down and moving his plate forwards some. Ellie didn't even comment, simply get up and putting the rest in a glass container. She neatly taped a sticky note to it with a simple note that said 'Buckys' and the date before putting it in the fridge.
"What are your plans today?" Ellie asked the table generally.
"I'm supposed to meet the others today. Training starts." Steve replied, scraping back from the table, his plate clean. He put it in the sink, grabbing a piece of bacon out of the pan to eat at it. "I'll be back by six though."
"Nothing really." Bucky murmured.
"Depends on if I've gained move in privileges or not." Tony shrugged.
"Of course you have." Ellie answered, as though it was the most obvious thing in the world. "You said you want to work on this relationship, right? So that means being here. Even if we're not sleeping together, we have to work on this here."
Tony blinked and looked at Steve who shrugged, "What she said."
He looked at Bucky who looked taken aback that Tony was looking for his opinion. "I'm as new to this relationship as you are. I don't have an opini-"
"Of course you do." Ellie interrupted immediately, fire in her eyes. "It doesn't matter if you're new to this. You're not anyways. You and Steve were together longer than any of us have been. Even Steve and I have been together for a shorter time. Even if you know, decades have passed, that time isn't just gone."
"It is for me." Bucky murmured softly, looking out the window. Ellie didn't have a response to that, and if anything looked guilty.
"I'm sorry I shouldn't have brought it up." She apologized.
"Don't apologize, it's not you." Bucky smiled. Steve touched the top of Bucky's head gently. The brunette froze, and then relaxed.
"You three going to be alright if I take off then?" Steve asked gently.
"Yes." Ellie replied. Bucky nodded and Tony grinned, "Don't beat the newbies up to much Cap."
Steve rolled his eyes and headed off, kissing Ellie on the lips and touching Tonys' shoulder lightly. He kissed Selenes' forehead and was out the door.
"His lunch!" Ellie shouted, leaping from the table and wrenched the fridge door open, grabbing a paper bag and ran out of the room. "STEVE!"
Tony snorted, "Lively."
"They're good together." Bucky said softly as he stood. He picked Selene up out of her high chair, putting her down and she toddled into the next room. "I feel almost as though I'm invading."
"Strange." Tony said seriously. "That's how I feel. But then again, I deserve that feeling. Rejecting them initially. I apparently said some of the worst things to Ellie. I've got a lot to make up for."
They were silent as Ellie returned to the house. Zeus trotted behind her, his tail wagging, before darting into the next room. Selenes' giggles soon rose.
"Alright, well I need to go shopping." Ellie announced as she cleared off the table.
"Shopping?" Tony brightened and Bucky asked confused.
"Yes." Ellie nodded matter of factly. "Firstly, Selene needs a few things. And, I want to buy Bucky more clothes."
Bucky blinked, "But I have seven shirts and seven pairs of pants."
"Exactly, it's not enough." Ellie declared, cleaning the table swiftly. "You won't have enough to get through the week if you exercise in them or if Selene spits up on you. Also, we're going to need a few extra things if two more people are moving in. Obviously you two don't have to come but-"
"I'm coming." Tony replied instantly. "You'll need my credit card."
Ellie shot him a look. "I pay in cash Stark."
Tony grinned, "I've got that too."
"You know we do have money?" Ellie raised an eyebrow. "Steve has made good money."
"I know." Tony replied, "But if you're letting me be a part of this family then you're going to have to realize I enjoy spending money. You gotta let me darling, it'll make me happy."
Ellie glared at him and then huffed, "Whatever makes you happy."
"Well, while that wasn't sincere at all, I'm glad we've come to an agreement." Tony said cheerfully, getting up and kissing her cheek.
"I'll come." Bucky said firmly. "Can I hold Selene?"
"Of course you can." Ellie smiled, "Hold on, I'm going to go freshen up." She left the room, floating upstairs and the other two got ready to go out.
