heh heh hehh..... MephoneX communicates through robotic warbles and beeps. His fans get louder when he's focusing on something. You can hear it get really loud when you approach it and OJ.

MephoneX is not malicious. It wasn't programmed to find enjoyment in what it does. It tends to act pretty listless without something to do. It likes order! Naturally, it gravitates towards OJ who seems to know what is going on.

MephoneX has deduced that its blare noise scares everyone away. This can be useful, however it also understands that OJ is also quite wary of this noise. As such it likes to make quiter chirping and beeping noises around him. It is not opposed to blaring at someone when it wants to be alone with OJ, however.

Cobs never programmed MephoneX for independent interaction. The only snippets of companionship it ever got was from recieving orders. But OJ just loves loves loves to talk. So it goes from being ignored unless useful, to being told secrets, and gripes, and about how nice the sky looks. At first it starts meticulously documenting all this stuff thinking surely this is important but then it starts to realise OJ just likes sharing things with it. This is very new for it.

For the past 20 minutes OJ had been watching MephoneX.

At first it was out of concern. He'd spotted the phone laying in the grass, limbs strewn in wide arcs at his side. The screen was completely black. However, upon inspection he noticed the ways its claws gently swayed, mimicking the grass that blew in tune to the wind.

It looked content… Calmed in a way it never really did.

It was a hot summer day. The air smelled sweet from the orange trees, and beyond the occasional gust of wind it was the type of warmth that made one's eyes heavy. Sleepy.

His own eyelids began to drop when suddenly he heard the chime of a notification.

He opened them, and noticed with alarm as the robot rose with bleary movement. Its screen suddenly flashed with light, a warning sign- overheating.

Shoot.

He crossed over, letting the robot hook its claws gently onto him as it steadied itself. "You can't just sit in the sun. It's too hot."

A beep.

He led the robot towards an overhang, sitting him down against the shade. When he pressed his hand against the metal on the phone he hissed at the scalding heat.

"How long were you out there?" He squawks. The robot- as usual- did not respond. Instead it rose one hand, swiveling it. The claws reached up as if to grasp the sun.

OJ squinted at it, then back. "I'm serious. You can't do that."

This time the beep was harsher.

He sighed, "I get it. Okay? It sucks being created as something that can't enjoy the... pleasantries of weather."

Rain couldn't kill him like heat could with X- but the sickness that blurred his mind whenever he filled with water wasn't a pleasant alternative.

He liked the cold. Maybe if he was another object the rain would be as pleasant as the sun.

He blinked, then inched towards X's side. His glass clinked against the metal, and he sat until the heat began to cool.

X, ever so still, finally onlined its screen.

"…is that better?"

No audible response beyond the calming whirr of a fan, instead it reached one of its arms to tap against him. He huffed. "You're welcome."

He got up to stand, dusting off scraps of dry grass.

"I'll sit with you ok, until we both get to hot then we have to go inside ok?"

After breakfast and his meeting with Silas, Corinth left the dining call with an extra plate of warm food in hand. It was difficult for the godling to overlook Jay's absence, along with a few others. But Jesse had unleashed a great deal of Nyx's power only to be frozen by Medusa's petrification at the end. Even for those who remained standing, Cor was certain Jay would be the one most worn down.

He didn't hesitate on his approach, or the not-too-loud knock he struck on the door, but worried that Jay wouldn't be his usual self. Tired, plagued with thought, but would he be angry? Cor made peace with his decision earlier. Even if the son of night was moody, that would have to improve some after a meal. And maybe some care.

"Hell of a day out, huh?" His smile spread full and he tried his best to keep the energy they'd shared earlier, while spending time with good-old cowboy Charlie. "I didn't expect any of this. ... I hope you're doing alright."
