Vicor will unveil three new approaches for powering xEVs at the premiere global automotive engineering event, WCX in Detroit
Xevs didn't make it to 2013
Okay, this post is going to be kind of depressing, but I need to post about this. So 13 years ago my uncle died. It was very unexpected and my aunt didn't know how to cope. She immediately went out and got a German Shepherd puppy named Xevs. He was so precious! He had the nicest colours out of the litter and his eyes were completely round.
Now, I'll admit... My aunt wasn't very good at training him or teaching him discipline. So he was mischievous and loud. But so loving! So very loving! And he was loving throughout his entire life. Sure, he was unusually large for a German Shepherd and he barked at everything which would definitely freak out people who didn't know him, but he was all love. If he barked at you he wanted you to come say hello. Seriously, one of the sweetest dogs I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.
Now, these past few years his health hasn't been the best. He has had some sort of hip condition and recently it had gotten so bad that he had to be carried up and down the stairs. He was unable to use his legs and he was getting old. Originally they had decided to wait until the end of the holidays to put him to sleep, but he was in pain...
So on New Years Eve, my cousin's fiance picked up Xevs early in the morning and drove up to the lake. They took a nice, slow walk before going into the car and heading to the vet's office. My cousin's fiance paid the vet before bringing Xevs in. He carried him onto the examination table by himself and Xevs soon enough got something to relax him. My cousin's fiance stayed with him the whole time until he crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
Part of me wants to cry my eyes out, but I know he was in pain and it was the right thing to do. I wouldn't want him to suffer. I just wish I had gotten the chance to say goodbye, you know? I mean, I've been away from Norway for 3 years now, but I still remember that beautiful dog as if it were yesterday. Xevs did have an impact on me. I considered him my cousin.
Now, I believe my aunt is going to get another dog because she can't handle being alone. But still... She spent 13 years with him. He was the one who helped her through the loss of her husband. No one could ever replace Xevs.
I may take a moment here and there to shed some tears over the next few days. But as I said, I am also happy he's no longer suffering. I just find it hard to think about how he was so close, but still didn't make it to 2013.
I'll miss you Xevs. You were a beautiful dog, both inside and out. I'll cherish the memories forever.
-Linda.
