Another thought....
@celluloidbroomclosetâs post from âMousetrapâ set me a-thinking, especially the bit about Steed treating everyone as equals.
Thatâs an important thing that he does, but the reasons why he does it are even more important. He doesnât do it only because he wants something from someone else. He doesnât do it only because it makes him look good.
Heâs not going to be all chummy towards the bikers one minute and show contempt for them the next or sneer at them behind their backs, and heâs not going to splain motorcycling to them. Heâs not doing it so that Cathy will be impressed with him. Heâs not doing it only this once and then never again.
Steed behaves this way because itâs the goddamn right way to treat other human beings, and itâs how he treats everyone.
Happy birthday to Joe Strummer , he would have been 65 today. #joestrummer #theclash #punkrock #wwjsd #thefutureisunwritten #knowyourrights

It ainât easy startinâ from the beginning, no matter what it is youâre doinâ. High school makes it even tougher â you got to start doinâ things for yourself, and it never feels like youâre ready enough.
But youâve got this under control. Worryinâ can be a good thing, if it gets you thinkinâ about what you need to do ahead of time and cominâ up with a plan â as long as you donât spend all your time gettinâ worried.
Schoolâs all right. If you donât have something you need for a class on the first day, donât worry about it. Bring it next time. If you start havinâ trouble with class, ask for help. If youâre worried about meetinâ people, talk to the ones in your band class, or art class, or gym class. Itâs pretty hard not to meet people when you spend all day with âem every day.
You got to remember that this ainât the first time youâve done this. Youâve started in new places before and made friends and done well, High schoolâs just another place where youâre goinâ to do exactly the same thing.
Thanks for that! But I got to say, it ainât me thatâs doing the inspiring. People do that for each other every day, and thatâs how it should be. What inspires me is seeinâ people talk to each other, teach each other, help each other out. Seeinâ people get to know a little more about each other. Seeinâ someone play a good song or tell a good story or buy a mate a drink or give a stranger a hand when thereâs no one else to do it. Seeinâ âem make themselves and other people happy.
So if you want to have a good time today, go outside and say hello to someone, or go see your mates, or go give someone a hand up out of a tough place, or go do something you love. Enjoy your time, âcause itâs the best thing you got!
One thing I can tell you straight away is that life is always worth livinâ. Thereâs times when itâs better and times when itâs worse, but thereâs always something good goinâ on, and thereâs always something good to look forward to. Never fall into the trap of thinkinâ there ainât anything left for you, âcause there always will be.
Youâll do all right in your exams â and even if you donât, it wonât be the end of the world. Doinâ well in them and movinâ on is one way of takinâ a step down the road, but it ainât the only one. There are always new ways of movinâ forward, and youâll find the one thatâs right for you. Just keep takinâ those steps and youâll get there.
But remember that, no matter what happens, youâre never pathetic. Youâre livinâ your life and doinâ your best, and thatâs worth more than anything. Keep on with it and thingsâll get better.
