Writing, especially good writing, is like tearing your own messy heart out and allowing it to stain the page. You can feel your clumsy fingers as they reach between your ribs, poking and prodding with the sharp end of a pencil. There's nowhere to hide, not anymore. It's horrifyingly vulnerable to have such personal thoughts made public, victim and traitor at once. Yet it is freeing. There are no interruptions, nothing to cut you short or cause interruptions. You have a rare chance to decide what to say and reveal every word, editing out all the unsightly pauses and meaningless noise before placing your heart in the hands of strangers. . . . I won camp nanowrimo! My goal of 50k was hard to tackle that all went on in my life this month, but I did it. I started yesterday off with 42,000 words, but I told myself I had come too far to fall short. Not quite sure how I banged out 7,000 after work before 9:30pm but I did it. I’m so proud. I feel like a queen this morning! Hope you all did well on your goals!
