like... vrepit sal’s employee Hunk, big fluffy galra man who is basically the brains of the operation even though Sal is supposedly the head chef
zarkon’s army soldier Keith who is literally so disenfranchised with his life that his monthly day off at the space mall is the highlight of his life.  he goes straight to Hunk the second he’s allowed to and just... orders whatever Hunk makes, he lets Hunk decide and Hunk NEVER lets him down
...one day Keith has had ENOUGH of this zarkon guy’s shit, zarkon is letting haggar rip apart the galaxy because somebody freed her little experiment, and Keith is so pissed off about literally everything that he deserts
which is the WORST honestly, because he can never go back to anywhere he’s ever been before, he’s just wandering around in disguise, hiding, and he’s honestly a little peeved because he’s never gonna get any of that good food from the guy at the mall ever again like... rude, zarkon, look what you made me do
before long he gets caught up in the blade of marmora because he caught shiro’s trail, and then he falls in with voltron, and he’s tasked with rescuing the red lion from sendak except WHOOPS things go to SHIT and even though he’s not supposed to fly her (allura does NOT want a galra in one of her lions) he does and winds up crashing red into the mall
everything is mayhem, people are stampeding, Sal is ticked off, galra soldiers are swarming in, and Hunk spies the most beautiful sight he thinks he’s ever seen
it’s just this guy he kinda knew, a regular who stopped coming by a few months back, except... he’s dressed all in red and white, wielding a beautiful sword, taking down galra after galra as this HUGE mechanical cat roars behind him
and Hunk has never been much for zarkon’s army because even out here in the boonies he can tell how fucked up the propaganda is, so even though he’s not inclined to fight he can’t just... not help when sword guy is so obviously outnumbered.  he grabs a cookie tray and proceeds to knock out everyone between him and sword guy.
cue Keith grabbing Hunk when he almost gets hit by some weapon and red just scooping them both up because She Knows
later that day they get this WICKED lecture from allura but... she realizes that she has to make at least one exception for a galra paladin, might as well make another because they still need to get yellow in order to release black and... she can already tell, these two are going to get along fine
