          murphy was a lot of things.  moron,  psychopath,  idiot.  the list was pretty much endless.  one thing that he definitely wasn't though was an early riser.  even as a child he had a knack for sleeping in until noon although in his defense,  his mother wasn't exactly aware enough to wake him up half of the time.  maybe it had just become a habit -- or maybe he was just lazy.  either way it was rare that he woke up before nine.  which is why he was taken by surprise when the numbers on the clock he'd been staring at for the past five minutes read eight twenty-seven am.  

          it was the breathing that had woken him up and he wasn’t talking about his own.  it's funny,  if someone would've said to murphy a few months ago that he would find himself waking up next to raven reyes in the future he would've laughed in their face.  it wasn't even on his radar  but in that moment,  as he lie there on his back  looking at the girl beside him, it felt strangely normal.  annoying  but normal.  he let out a sigh that could easily be compared to that of a grouchy child,  half tempted to shake the girl awake. probably not a wise decision so instead,  he shuffled in the covers lightly,  lifting his hand to gentle touch her bare shoulder.  it was a simple and quick gesture,  just to signal that he was awake. " hey!"  the words came out as a whisper,  "you awake?"  stupid question really.  if she wasn't she wouldn't be able to answer. idiot. he sighed again, falling back to look at the ceiling,  “jesus, you want to breathe any louder reyes?”  what could he say?  he wasn’t a morning person.   

             murphy stood a few feet away from the girl,  sighing  as he threw and ball made of elastic bands at the wall.  gratitude had never been his strong suit.  most people would've said thank you if someone was going out of their way to make them a sick remote controlled car thing.  especially if that person was risking their brain to do so.  except he hadn't really asked for it.  yeah,  he'd moaned to her about not having anything to do.  they'd moaned to each other about it.  hell, they’d even given each other something  to do at one point. that didn't mean he'd expected her to go out of her way to help continue to do so though.  of course,  murphy knew that this was probably how raven had fun,  playing around with electronics and mechanical stuff.  so he didn't have the heart to stop her.  besides,  she'd explained to him roughly what she was doing,  and he'd be lying if he said he wasn't looking forward to the end result.
