I am still so hooked on your betaverse fics ❤️ I love your world building. And your writing is so good at tension and dread in such a grounded way. Thank you so much for your writing!
I also have a question if that is okay. So the chance of escape for the beta in all of the packs is pretty much zero, but consider a fluke/miracle happens and someone manages to get her away from them? Would that be possible?
I keep thinking about it the idea of beta thinking they are saved, they have hope, only to find out the person/people that helped them just wanted to claim the reader for themselves. Nurse them through the bond sickness, revel in the beta relying on them while they are sick and vulnerable, and then take satisfaction in erasing her old pack with theirs.
theoretically it's possible, sure. the problem is access. it isn't that every beta is on lockdown 23/7 with one hour of 'outside' time a day, but it's going to be a long, long while before any of these alphas let their mates go wandering around alone.
they're observant, they're possessive, and regardless of intention, designation or gender, they're going to be side-eyeing anyone who looks twice at their mate or steps too close. so it's less a question of possibility but plausibility. anyone who's developing a fixation is going to, at some point, draw attention to themselves. scent will be a dead giveaway. any budding friendship – if they're allowed that much – will be monitored. as far as the alphas are concerned, their mate has everything she needs with them, anyone else is a distraction at best, a threat to be removed at worst.
