Vine of the Week
We š Ā how the Bureau of Land Management - California celebrated World Oceans Day AND National Best Friends Day all in one great Vine!Ā
Today is World Oceans Day, which I think is a great way to celebrate our amazing oceans and all the wildlife that inhabits them, but we also have to make conscience about how much damage human activities and pollution do to them. Last year a study estimated that around eight million metric tons of our plastic waste enter the oceans from land each year. That's a lot of plastic! Most of it comes from regular waste of everyday items like bottles, wrappers, straws and the like, (just the kind of waste that is visible on the shore in this picture, mixed with sargassum seaweed in Akumal, Mexico). We have to come up with ways to both reduce our use of plastics and to clean up our lovely oceans, otherwise they and their wildlife won't last. . .

Hey guys! Its June 8th which means itsĀ WorldĀ Oceans Day!Ā I heard about these shoes that were made from recycled ocean trash a while back but now Iāve gotten more info! This is an amazing thing that Adidas and parley for oceans are doing with more projects like this we can reduce the amount of ocean plastics and microplastics float in our ocean!
Spent the morning cleaning up Perth City Beach for Word Oceans Day with UWA Guild VolunteeringĀ - the only event in WA that day! Couldnāt believe some of the rubbish we found- so many lolly sticks and straws! Iām definitely going to start rethinking my drinks and lolly choices.

It sounds like you are on vacation in Maine, doesnāt it? Actually you took the subway to get here. You are on the rocky coast of Twin Islands in Pelham Bay Park.
