my workplace is laying off 43 people
(i feel like important context here is that my workplace has four separate locations, it's 43 people across all locations)
they will not be telling anyone who until a meeting on wednesday (but is "ask(ing) that employees not speculate about who may be affected" ok sure buddy. "don't think about a pink elephant" or whatever. so we're supposed to just be totally chill and normal about this for the next two days.)
by "managers have received guidance to help support teams. managers do not have the names of affected employees at this time." they mean "managers were just as blindsided by this as the rest of staff was"
they sent out a second email specifically telling us that if the media reaches out to us we are to not say anything and instead put them in touch with the president of the company. what are you realistically going to do if someone who has Already Been Let Go talks to the media? fire them???
and my 90 day performance review was glowing, too. damn.
i will absolutely fucking lose my mind if anyone tries to give me reassurance or advice
