So background... I’m in a group text with my dad, my aunt (aka his sister), and my sister since he wrote us yesterday to say he was going to the doctor because he’d been having some trouble voiding and was passing some blood (all is fine, he has a UTI... I was betting on that and/or BPH since he’s almost 70).
Anyway, my 41 year old sister keeps referring to him as “daddy” and it’s low key grossing me out. I don’t know why, but I have a strong aversion to adult children referring to their parents as mommy and daddy. I haven’t called either of my parents those names since I was still aged in single digits, easily. It’s just weird to me.
Although yeah. It is interesting hearing that people experience word aversion too. Because I’ve always experienced that. Just for different words. I have no problem saying moist or phlegm, but other words weird me out saying them.

I will consider Word Sensitivity quizzes accurate when they finally acknowledge my vehement dislike of the word “cheek.” I hate it it makes me cringe even typing it was unpleasant.

I, personally, am fine with hearing the word “moist,” but it turns out a lot of other people are not. This is my second article on psych2go and it was really interesting doing research learning more about word aversion!
