someone in the mmolb discord had the idea of 'a two player journaling game hack of In the Air Tonight by Austin Ramsay where one player is the pitcher and the other is the catcher' and uh. we might try to make it. asked permission. the user granted it. so uh. we'll see ig?
Coming up with ideas for a ttrpg adventure game jam.
FIST--
Mundane task snowballs into Bigger Fuckery
'Unicorn' - NPC (the rave commander!)
Divination/tarot themed mission to go with the major arcana NPCs (someone using tarot cards as calling cards for their crimes)
The Foundation--
Dealing with a containment breach (simple)
Investigative mission (more puzzle than combat)
Mission(?) with central conflict moral/ethical
APOCALYPSE FRAME--
Pyrrhic victory (you won, but at what cost?)
Liminal Horror--
Corporate horror with a focus on body horror (metaphor for how capitalism warps people)
Iterative mirror (exerts influence to where you pull an alternate self out and they then pull one out and so on and so forth, this is causing problems somehow?)
Underground/underwater based mission and the logistics of that
Misc.--
Something with flash clones and identity issues
Missions that play with the boundary of player self and table self
Brain: solo ttrpg where a core feature is using a camera/taking photos
Me: ok sounds cool, what else about it?
Brain: all I got, boss
Hi selfship tumblr! I wanted to update you all about the selfship solo TTRPG (tabletop role playing game) idea I've been kicking around.
I've adjusted my concept for it and high key restarted from scratch. Now it's more of a isekai story, where you are brought into your F/O's world and have to go unite with them, somehow.
The core of the game is in a typical 'roll on prompt tables and write an entry of your adventure' journaling game format, with a few extra mechanics that to gamify it a bit more. I'm figuring out what those will be and how to make the game a working cohesive unit.
I'm focusing on nailing down the prompts at the moment -- I'd like them to be short but evocative, and generally applicable to any F/O source, while still often tying back to the themes emotions and idea the game is based around and aims to draw out.
'When can I play it?' I also want to know (I don't know, but you'll see a post if and when it comes to fruition). In the meantime, you might see occasional other dev posts from me in the tags.
('What about all the responses you got earlier about this game?' Those experiences folks shared are being used for inspiration and to help focus my prompts so they that fit the vision and vibe for what the game will be as a whole.)

Hmm I wonder if it'd be cool to, once the player gets the vital monitoring system back, to have a status page for the crew that updates based on choices ...
It might not work out considering how I want the UI to look, but if I shuffle stuff around I might be able to do what im picturing in my head. ....
Of course I need to finish the game before I start doing things like this ao i will relegate this to 'if i have time' lol.
Mockups of my one page rpg jam entry.
Working on the selfship journaling game; trying to come up with prompts (the idea is you roll on a d20 and then write something based on the prompt).
Not sure I'll go with these in the end -- part of me wants a more fantastical approach, but I want to make this accessible to anyone who struggles with the blending of fiction and reality due to mental health. Also attempting to figure it how to gamify this all more.
Anyway, here's what I got right now (Xs are just a placeholder for actual words):
1. You are overcome with longing for your F/O. What do you want for?
2. X
3. For whatever reason, you are reminded that you love someone you cannot touch, cannot ever have physically. What prompted this painful remembrance, and how do you handle it-- does your F/O help in this moment or does that ache too much?
4. X
5. Through your F/O, you're learning and asserting to yourself that you are lovable, inherently so. How have they made you realize you deserve love, from them and from yourself?
6. X
7. You come up with a new idea for a headcanon for your selfship. Is it sweet? Sad? Angsty? How does it deepen your connection to your F/O?
8. X
9. X
10. X
11. In your dreams, your F/O is there. What are you doing? What are they doing? Do you speak with them? Do anything together?
12. X
13. X
14. X
15. Your F/O motivates you to make something-- art, writing, anything creative. What do you make, and what does it mean to you to have?
16. X
17. Something challenging is ahead of you. But your F/O inspires you to try. How do they help you?
18. You're doing something, be it at home or out and about, and pretend your F/O is there. What do you talk about? Do they help with whatever you're doing?
19. X
20. You come across an imagine that inspires you. What is the scenario?
