"Someone has to stop Zelda from doing stupid things, and if I have to be the one to tell her so be it"
lore drop ... :)
lore time! / always accepting
grinning sooo widely, thank you for letting me ramble! this is kind of an addendum to my first post about rito as a language — with a focus on spoken rito and rito key because i haven't actually done more than touch on the former and i would like to make slight modifications to the latter. proper capitalisation and everything ahead because these notes will just be c+p from my big web of 'em sfdlkjf:

of course he * really knows what zelda thinks. they'd been inseparable even * before the calamity had struck, and since then even more so ( barring the hundred year crisis where the both of them had given up * everything, of course ). she has the beginnings of guilt hidden in the way her brow furrows at the mere thought that she'd even tried to * lie to link in the first place, turning around with a sorrowful look in her draconic eyes. "it's not ... that. grief is a natural, scientific process that all beings go through - that is a fact. it just ... it * technically happened to me so long ago that i ... don't feel worthy of mourning. it feels like a different * me should be here. not ... "
Link is quiet for a long moment after she trails off. The wind shifts between them, catching the ends of his scarf, stirring pale strands of her hair the only sound as he looks at her the way he always has when she starts retreating into herself; steady and patient, unwilling to let her disappear behind logic and technicalities.
“You think the person who lost everything stopped being you just because time passed.” His gaze softens, and he takes a slow step closer, boots crunching faintly against the dirt. “Zelda… you carried that grief for a hundred years. Even when you were alone. Even when there wasn’t anyone left to see it.” His voice lowers. “That doesn’t make it less real. And it doesn’t mean you missed your chance to mourn.”
He knows that feeling better than most; waking into a life that no longer fit his own memories, walking through ruins people expected him to recognize as home. Sometimes the past felt like it belonged to someone else entirely. Someone stronger. Someone deader. But he’d never looked at her and seen a stranger.
“You’re still the same person who stood in front of the Calamity and refused to let the world end. You’re also the person standing here now. Tired. Hurt. Trying to keep moving anyway.” A faint crease forms between his brows. “And both of them deserve kindness.”
omg are you still doing pigeon stuff i love pigeons what type do you think zelda is
can i send you a shitload of pigeon pics
ask me about pigeons you coward alSO YES SEND ME ALL THE PIGEON PICS
Easy! We're also venturing out of the realm of domestic pigeons, but Zelda is a pink necked green pigeon. They're utterly stunning (though unfortunately most of the pics you find are enhanced/ai; they're gorgeous but some colors don't really exist in nature). They're native to Southeast Asia, and they're frugivores, meaning they subsist almost entirely off of fruit! This makes them enormously important to the local ecosystems as pollinators and seed distributors.

anything you've been wanting to yap about for kohga that you've not had the chance to?
IN WHICH MASTER KOHGA GETS A SHEIKAH BOYFRIEND AND ENJOYS A HAPPY, HEALTHY, STABLE RELATIONSHIP BECAUSE IT’S WHAT HE DESERVES.
Said Sheikah’s name is Detsu and he works as (future chief) Impa’s bodyguard after things settle down following the war and Impa takes up the role as the village’s leader. He owns a small tea and sweets shop in the village, which he runs alongside his ex-wife. They have a daughter together.
They ended up splitting on good terms. As to why…
While I think the Sheikah tend to be open with gender/sexuality, there is a heavy conservative/conformist element to their culture. All the more so given the Sheikah have never been huge in numbers, so there is an expectation of marrying and starting a family to continue onto the next generation.
It was one of those childhood romances where everyone just assumed they’d get married so Detsu kind of rolled with it until years down he became more certain of his sexuality: that he was gay. The divorce was quiet, nearly unspoken. Sheikah society values harmony and duty above personal desire, so Detsu had buried his realization for years for the sake of the whole and so not to cause a disturbance in their quiet, pastoral community.
Kohga and Detsu’s relationship begins during a visit to Kakariko Village after the Hyrulean army liberates it. Kohga tours the village (spies on the competition) and ends up running into a quaint little tea house. Kohga’s mouth waters before he even hits the entrance.
Detsu is on a rare break from assisting Impa around the village and is running the shop for the day. Detsu serves Kohga and the two surprisingly hit it off well, especially since most Sheikah are incredibly wary of the Yiga’s presence and supposed partnership with Hyrule. That Kohga even deigned to strut through the village at all was gutsy as hell. But this is Kohga we’re taking about.
Kohga departs and (playfully) threatens he’ll return again to cause some trouble in their quiet town and get served more delicious tea and sweets.
It becomes even more obvious after the Calamity is defeated. Kohga starts spending an unusual amount of time away from the Yiga’s hideout and move-to-Faron activities.
Officially, it’s to meet with Impa (now officially the chief) and build up Sheikah-Yiga relationships. Unofficially, it’s to drop by Detsu’s tea house as Kohga had promised during the war. With the newfound peace and an uneasy but promising alliance forming between the once divided tribes, these visits start becoming more and more frequent. Until Kohga is a regular masked face.
Kohga comes more frequently, until he’s staying later and later, even crashing on a futon in the back room because the trek back home is “too dangerous” at night. The two end up together after some time following a shared moment of vulnerability beneath the stars and fireflies, overlooking the mountains while charting out shared constellations their ancient ancestors cherished. And it’s clear the feelings couldn’t be more mutual when they make their confessions.
It forges a bond that no one had seen coming and sets a precedence for Sheikah-Yiga relations to come. Planting seeds to mark the start of a new era and newer even newer beginnings.
"it's like i'm sleepwalking."
bring me the horizon ( @woevrns )
Master Kohga laughs. And is not out of any mockery for her plight, but out of sympathy. Sleeping out in unfamiliar territory was one thing, having to take shifts throughout the night and needing to rise earlier than the sun was another.
Seemed the pampered bird wasn't getting her usual beauty sleep—
Sigh. Unfortunately, Kohga agreed. He wasn't getting his either. And everyone was gonna have to pay DOUBLE for it—
He clamps a hand to Zelda's back.
"See, THAT is why taking lottsa time outta your day is SUPERDUPERIMPORTANT!"
"Besides, you're the princess, don't you kinda make the rules?" Which, upon saying it aloud, makes Kohga's nose wrinkle with disapproval. Yeah, okay. NO. No one person should have the entire say in a matter—
"Eh, scratch that last bit," he waves his hand around in the air dismissively, "what I'm saying is... you gotta sneak out when no one's watchin' and find a perfect, quiet little place to get a snooze or two in. Ya hear me? Oh, don't worry," he nudges her gently with his elbow, "I got you covered."
